25th Anniversary of Mile 0 in the Marathon of Hope
To hell with politics and political shenanigans.

Let's remember a true hero. It's hard to become a hero in Canada. Terry Fox managed it, and never was there been a person more worthy of being venerated.

He used to practice run down the road I grew up on, my mother said she always used to drive by him and think, "WHo is that guy and what is he doing?"

... that money he raised has been saving lives, over the past quarter-century. Thanks to early detection and treatment, a very good friend of mine survived cancer and now has an infant child -- thanks to the people at this place. There are many, many others with similar stories.

Back in the early 1980s, one of my relatives, a physician, predicted that it would probably take at least a decade to start seeing breakthroughs -- but with assured funding of the type provided by the Fox Foundation, they would occur on a regular basis after that. Looks like he was correct.
