Sacha Trudeau helping accused terrorist Almrei

TORONTO — An accused terrorist is getting some high-profile support in Federal Court.

Syrian national Hassan Almrei has been held in solitary confinement since October 2001 and wants to be released while Ottawa assesses whether he poses a security threat.

Among his supporters are Alexandre (Sacha) Trudeau, who has offered a $5,000 bond.

Almrei is one of five men being held on security certificates since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in the United States.
