On their way to victims of Hurricane Katrina

Opening my sample pack, supplied to the media by the MoD, I was struck by the sheer amount of food that had been squeezed into the unassuming 20x11x19cm brown box.

Some of the comments are funny, too.

3. One of the comments says that's not a standard Army stove
and that doesn't surprise me - it says the get a 'hex' stove (basically a simple piece of metal on which you burn firelighters). That stove looks rather like an 'MSR' - as you say, a nice piece of kit (I have a small one), which can burn a variety of liquid fuels.

5. Can you get them in civvie-land?
Would be useful to keep a few days supply in the loft/garage/wherever
in case of emergency.

Don't forget a couple of 5l bottles of water, torch, radio & batteries & some basic first aid equipment.
