Labour under fire for tactical vote call

Senior Labour figures have come under fire after backing tactical voting in certain seats to "keep the Tories out".

Schools Secretary Ed Balls told the New Statesman that he always wanted Labour to win but recognised there was "an issue" in Lib Dem/Tory marginals.

Nick Clegg said it signalled Labour's "utter desperation", while David Cameron said it showed voting Lib Dem could keep Gordon Brown as PM.

To be honest though, I'm not a fan of tactical voting. If you vote for the 2nd best party you will inevitably end up with a 2nd rate government.

Plus it encourages politicians to be negative, to use the vote for us or it's the other lot argument rather then being positive about why they would be better.
