William Hague
Is First Secretary of State (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/election2010/liveevent/). That means if Clegg isn't pandering to Cameron, he'll be out and Hague will take over.

1. I'm not sure there's that much to 'take over' as deputy PM
This looks like a title to keep Hague sweet, after he's been the effective number 2 in the Tories.

It was a question what Clegg would actually be doing from day to day; it seems he's in charge of 'political reform', ie the AV referendum, Lords reform, 5 year parliament etc.

2. I read somewhere that Stanley Baldwin once said the wisest thing he ever did ...

... was during the General Strike when he kept Winston out of mischief by "putting him in a corner and giving him a newspaper to edit"

Happy editing, Nick!
