1. better than David Milliband
I can't stomach the idea of the two biggest parties being led by wannabe Blairists.

If Labour is going to a government again then it needs to rediscover its socialist morality. To do this it needs to face down the excesses of Blairism and at least reposition itself as a social democratic party.

5. Well, something like that nearly happened already.

We could have had PM. Major-Ball. Unfortunately, his dad lopped, or should we say castrated, the name.

Can you imagine all the comments about the Major Balls-ups of Major-Ball?

(he made some major balls-ups anyway!)

7. Jon Cruddas rules himself out of Labour leadership race
Backbench MP Jon Cruddas has said he will not stand for the leadership of the Labour Party.

Mr Cruddas, who came third in the deputy leadership race in 2007 and is a former adviser to Tony Blair, has maintained strong union links.

He said he had given it serious thought but would not be standing.
...
But the Dagenham MP said while "many people" had urged him to stand: "I do not feel that I am in a position to deliver on the hopes and expectations that will be placed in the next leader."

8. That's actually quite bad news
Labour needs a proper debate about its future, and it won't get that if it's just a contest between Miliband A and Miliband B.

9. Agreed...
Also I like Cruddas. Though the leaders whom I like very rarely win (sigh).
