Can someone explain
Why the UK Parliament is having recesss after recess. After summer , they sit for a couple of weeks and thne break time again. Even school children don't get such breaks.

1. Our MP's are so overworked
with all the additional jobs that they hold that they need that extra time off. (Cynical reason)

Other reason, much of Parliamentary time is set by tradition (both old and new). There is a long summer break, followed by the a short term in Autumn for laying of bills and closure for conference season.

3. It's because the people need SOME respite from our government!
Probably it's in the Magna Carta somewhere!
