Anyone know of a good publisher in UK?
I have written a non-fiction book about Canadian intelligence and I am looking for a publisher who is interested in alternative/human right books. As I am across the pond, I was hoping someone here might have such experience with some of these publishers.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I've had business with a number of UK publishers in the past, but mostly dealing with children's and art books, not political books.

The most obvious thing to say at this point is avoid Harper Collins. Not only are they owned by Rupert Murdoch but they aren't that great to do business with anyway in my experience.

3. I don't know if they would be interested, but you might
try Pickard Communications, in Sheffield. They are a small house that still pays most of the bills through business printing and such, but they also publish books (the book side of the house is called "YouBooks").

For quite a while it was mostly local interest stuff, but they have been expanding into other genres in the last few years. I honestly don't know if they would bite, but it might be worth a try.

They have published both of our charity cookbooks and the quality was superb - plus they are genuinely decent, honest, and likable people.

Good luck!
