The treatment of the disabled in todays spending review alone is little more than a disgrace

If Clegg, , Alexander, Huhne and Cable had any decency they should simply join the Tory party.

I hope their party is wiped from the face of the earth

If he wants to keep his seat. A poll from a couple of weeks ago shows the Lib Dem vote in his own constituency collapsing from over 50% at the election down to 33%, just 2% ahead of Labour on 31% and the Tories on 28%.

Overall, the latest polls show the Lib Dems haemorrhaging support & if they stay the same they'll lose around 40 seats come the next election. Sadly, the Tories are still just ahead of Labour in the polls but there's almost nothing in it, the tiniest swing to Labour or away from the Tories would put Labour back into a strong lead.

Very little between the two parties.

Polls suggest that Huhne would almost certainly lose his seat (marginal at the best of times) by a pretty decisive majority. Unfortunately, it would be to a Tory.

For the record I grew up in Clegg's constituency and work in Sheffield. Sheffield Hallam is actually quite different from the rest of Sheffield. It's got a lot of very wealthy areas such as Fulwood, Whirlow and Dore which would be staunch Tory anywhere other then Sheffield. As it is people in these parts of Hallam tend to vote Lib Dem in order to prevent Labour running things. Those people are likely to continue with Clegg as Tory in all but name.

Clegg's main competition in Hallam is the Tories (who haven't made any effort in Sheffield for years). Hallam does not have much council housing and the most studenty areas have been moved into Sheffield Central by the boundary comission.

Add into the mix a Lib Dem majority of 15,284 and it becomes apparent that Clegg's seat is still pretty safe. Now a lot of other Lib Dem MP's and councillors may be worried about losing their seats but I do suspect that Clegg ain't too concerned about that as long as he's got power.

But let's not forget the RW press. They create the climate in which the disabled can be treated as 'workshy'.
