Andrew Lansley bankrolled by private healthcare provider
An old article, but rather relevent.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/mps-expenses/6989408/Andrew-Lansley-bankrolled-by-private-healthcare-provider.html

John Nash, the chairman of Care UK, gave £21,000 to fund Andrew Lansley’s personal office in November.

Mr Nash, a private equity tycoon, also manages several other businesses providing services to the NHS and stands to be one of the biggest beneficiaries of Conservative policies to increase the use of private health providers.

Earlier this month, the Conservatives pledged to increase the use of private providers if elected.

In the draft manifesto published by the Conservatives, the party promised to “open up the NHS to include new independent and voluntary sector providers.”

1. Very relevant indeed! And disgusting.
I've been very worried about this for some time; e.g. some months ago I posted:

'Also I suspect that there is a fair bit of legal but unethical bribery going on. The media are obsessed with MPs' expenses claims, but the ethics issue that bothers me far more is: what sort of incentives and funding are they getting from businesspeople who stand to profit from particular policies, especially privatization policies? It is known that a private health insurance company has given funds to Lansley's office, for example.'

Just legalized bribery IMO; and very dangerous.

2. This is no surprise at all.
The only surprise is that people will put up with having this jackass in charge of the NHS.
