1. "Home secretary: Charles Clarke"
Damn it, can't Blair appoint a Home Secretary who isn't an authoritarian-conservative instead?

2. Big Brothers watching you
we're fucked now. ID cards forced through and a law a day keeps the terrorists away mentality will increase. In fact he might be reading this better go quick,

might be seen as inciting debate

3. I think ID cards will have a tough time going through the Commons
because of the make-up of the new Parliament, that is unless the Tories decide to support ID cards.

4. I'm fairly convinced they will
the way they were talking before the election they say they no longer oppose them on principle (what principles?). Probably get something watered down and the spineless lib dems will back em as well.

I just worry a lot the way civil liberties are almost laughed at by New Labour and a lot of politicians now.

These are the most precious things we have in a democracy.

5. Apparently not.
All about wanting to seem even more Macho Stinky-Pooier on Laura Norder than the Party of the Night.

And they don't come much Stinky-Pooier than Big Charlie...

7. I wish Blair would just stop trying to impress the Daily Mail altogether
Edited on Sat May-07-05 04:06 AM by Anarcho-Socialist
they're never ever ever ever ever going to support the Labour Party.

In the time that Labour spent flexing it's muscles to The Sun and The Express we could have had Social Democracy by now. 8 years and not enough has changed.

8. Oh no, not many changes
Ruth Kelly is still education secretary - can't stand her! Charles Clarke as Home Secretary, ugh ugh ugh, why doesn't Blair appoint Ken Clarke instead, he'd be more liberal! I'm glad that Geoff Hoon isn't defence secretary any more, but PLEASE not John Reid; he was so horrible as Health Secretary. And as for David Blunkett!!! Why doesn't Blair appoint Genghis Khan instead, he'd be more liberal!!!
