What the fuck has happened to Blair?
He was never much of a socialist to start with but who would have guessed back in '97 that he would turn into such a bastard? Everything he does seems to turn him more into a Bush clone although, from things I've read, he can't stand the Bushes. Has he lost his mind - I mean really? He's far from being a stupid man; these things come out of his mouth and I can't imagine he really means them. Won't be long before the men in white coats gently persuade him to have "a nice long rest".

3. He is out of his tiny mind...
...He was originally elected in a tidal-wave of relief that Thatcherism was finally over...and ever since then has believed all of his own press releases...

He is a tremendous disappointment...

6. Remember the Franklin scandal during Reagan's reign?
Edited on Wed Jun-29-05 05:11 PM by nikraye
Involved a Nebraskan republican, Larry King, who ran a child prostitution ring and had a photographer who took pictures of legislators, judges, even some unnamed White House occupants in compromising situations with the kiddie prostitutes, then used those pictures to blackmail, coerce political favors, and secure party loyalty.

Wouldn't be surprised if Bushco has got some sort of goods on Blair, forcing his allegiance.

And remember the secret CIA surveillance -- bugs and hidden cameras -- at the Seattle APEC summit during the Clinton admin, used to gain "intelligence" of foreign bigwigs while at the summit to use as political leverage. And the State Dept., which provided prostitutes, boy toys (15-18 y.o boy prostitutes) for visiting dignitaries.

7. He was a bastard from the start
The whole Bliar project was based on anti-socialist policies like the attack on Clause Four - policies designed to win over middle class tory voters by making the party seem "safe". Activists at the time might have believed that once Labour was in power, it would revert to its true principles, but that was an effort of faith I for one could never make. Believe a two-faced liar was really a man of principle? Not likely. The last straw for me was endorsing that bastard Woodhead's reign of terror over the teaching profession...

8. When he was elected leader,
I voted for Prescott, though I knew he wouldn't get it. Word among the local Labour agents was that Blair was a "slimeball" and "a Tory in a red tie", and so he turned out to be.

10. He's disgusting
I agree with Briar, the last straw was his keeping Woodenhead in charge of schools. Not to mention his cuts in benefits for people with disabilities. And everything since. His harsh attitude to the refugees from Zimbabwe is the latest in a long series. Even the Daily Mail attacked him for that. I didn't think it was POSSIBLE to be harsher on asylum seekers than the Daily Mail.

I think Blair is better than Thatcher, but worse than many other Tories such as Heath and Macmillan.

11. I wish i knew
It seemed so "cool brittania" when he came in to office. A new
opportunity to do something really cool was presented. Originally,
i thought he might end the drugs war and make peace with his own people..
and all he did was make a delcassificaiton of cannabis and step up
the war... nasty fucker.

In terms of economics, i think he was deeply afraid of a labour economic
problem, and decided to take the advise of the american imperialists
over good judgement. And i'm so damn sad... really really sad that
he's become a rotter. He should send his son to iraq instead of the
imperial congress... but he's a coward, like the repukes... all talk
as long as someone else's kid does the dying.

He's become a heartless shit, a really callous motherfucker, and with
him, britain has behaved deplorably, driving human rights under the
table for militarism, and a dreadful adgenda of squandering the people's
goodwill on killing others. The sooner he retires the better... its
unhealthy to have a "premier" with a rotten heart.

12. There's a precedent for all this:

David Lloyd George. Weak leftist instincts quickly overtaken by a lust for power and a blinding arrogance. Power has corrupted Blair, and so has associating with Bush. He just can't resist the urge to see himself as a big magic saviour, scooping up the poor little Iraqis. He's still not wholly dark-side and seems to be alright with foreign aid (at least better than his mate Furious the Monkey Boy) and the environment, and the CAP, but really, next time let's choose someone less capricous and egotistic.

And as for the Telegraph attacking his toughness on Zimbabwean immigrants, that's because some of them are white.

13. All the Zimbabwean asylum seekers faced with deportation ..
that I have seen mentioned in the media are black Africans. Most white Zimbabwean settlers in this country already have the right to British citizenship because they or their parents were born in the UK.
