Brits, I am truly, truly sorry!
I am truly sorry for the fact that millions of my fellow countrymen have been foolishly misled into voting for a man that may well be the reason for World War III. A man who is probably the closest thing to a dictator the United States has had. A man who basically gave the middle finger to the world and started an unjust and costly war in Iraq.

I am almost to the point of tears. I fear that I am seriously considering getting the hell out of this country if Bush is declared the winner. Please do not think everybody in America are total idiots. I cannot live in a country that once championed freedom around the world and now has become something it was not suppose to be.

Once again, please forgive me and the people who do not buy into the Bush Doctrine.

John

2. Well, it feels like 1992 in Britain
when things had looked bright for (old) Labour on the day of the election; and yet the Tories got in.

The difference then was that we think some people were unwilling to admit voting for Tories because it seemed to make them look greedy; but in this US election, Republican voters seem quite willing to say they're doing it 'for national security' (despite the incompetent decisions Bush has made in that area; he just seems to work on the stereotype that right wing parties keep you safer), so they have what they think is a presentable excuse.

I'm pinning my hopes on Ohio provisional ballots now. I'm also thinking dark thoughts about Diebold and how possible it might be for companies to rig the software without someone in the corporation blowing the whistle.

3. You guys have nothing to aplogise for.
You are fighting a great fight. There are things about which I'm really worried - nay, scared - but you aren't one of them. Keep fighting, keep pushing. We're still 100% behind you.

4. Thread hijack...
... as I can't start my own yet. But I just wanted to say: Commiserations from the UK. Well, it would be presumptuous (although pretty much correct) to speak for the whole country, so commiserations from my little corner of London. All of you are to be commended for fighting so hard and giving us hope - in this situation, I'd certainly say that a dashed hope is better than no hope at all.

On the bright side, the scumbags now have four years to accumulate enough rope to hang themselves and to thoroughly piss on their chips (sorry, "take a wizz on their fries"), you libruls will get to say "I told you so" more times than you ever dreamed possible, and I'm sure there'll be plenty of jobs in the soon-to-be-thriving jackboot industry.

So thanks once again, and sorry it turned out this way. Chin up and all that.
