Can I just say, for the record, how much I love Tony Jones..
Last night on Lateline, Peter Costello was being interviewed by Jones. Costello started with a smug air about him - like this was another chance to get some cheap political shots in... instead, Tony ATE HIM ALIVE! By the end of the interview, Costello was yelling at Tony in anger. A couple of times Costello looked like he was ready to remove his mic and storm out. It was quite hilarious to watch. Good on you Tony Jones! Good to see there are still some real journalists out there (although knowing the current state of the ABC, it wouldn't suprise me if they terminated him)

1. Tony Jones and Kerry O'Brien are sacred icons!
I saw the interview too, and loved it. Costello was so desperate, trying to make a souffle rise out
of lumpy dough. I loved Tony Jones's smile, which got bigger and bigger as the interview went on.

As Paul Keating so deliciously said of Costello on Monday: "All tip and no iceberg".

2. I also saw the interview
I commented to my husband, that Costello has lost it. They are my favourite interviewers. John Howard has been saved again by another disaster (plane crash in Indonesia) because the shit was well and truly hitting the fan.

3. All tip no iceberg.
You have to love Keating's way with words.

Costello can see his shot at the top job evaporating before his eyes. Will there be a last ditch challenge for the leadership of the Libs?

Sadly, the Garuda crash came at a bloody good time for the dessicated coconut, allowing him to show what a caring, compassionate fellow he is, sweeping the Brian Burke stuff under the carpet.
