1. I'm not a progressive, but I am a not too far left liberal. I'd consider
it. Thing is where to go that has jobs. I'm in Texas, in an area with a great economy. Surrounded by Reds.

3. Swing state would be better
I think rather than moving to a blue state (or to Canada), moving to Ohio or Florida would be more effective. A swing of a few hundred thousand in both of those places would make the entire country blue.

4. For political or military reasons?
I'm in California and we have about all the people we can take... We're bracing ourselves for a couple of million Middle Eastern people, because that's what happens when America starts wars. The victims move to California.

6. What the hell for? So we can endure the continued insults of....
...self-proclaimed "progressives" on this board who have been extremely antagonistic toward EVERYONE currently living in the South?

Let me tell you something...I was born in Virginia, currently live in Alabama, and I've travelled extensively throughout the Northeast, Midwest, and West. I have actually encountered more racist/bigotted people in those areas than I EVER have in the South.

14. We can be friends and fellow revolutionaries, but...
Until those outside the southern U.S. can improve their weather patterns year-round, I'm staying here! =)

Seriously, I want to back up what media_lies_daily has said. I grew up in Alabama, went to college in another Deep South state, and then spent the next 20 years living all over the world, literally. And one of the great ironies I discovered in the process is that, in many, many ways, blacks and whites in the South have come much further than they have in other parts of this country and the world in general when it comes to peaceful co-existence. Because we've had to. We aren't perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but we are a hell of a lot more pragmatic than most when it comes to getting along with each other.

So why should I move? This is my home, and, though I admit to some surprise at this fact, I am happy to have come full circle in order to raise my family here. I lived in southwest Missouri for a couple of years, and it was easily the most racist, religiously intolerant and narrow-minded community I've ever encountered.

Apologies to all the good folks from the Show-Me-State. I know you are out there!

Ok, you guys stay down there and head up the insurgency. As soon as you lay the ground work and soften things up, we'll come storming down from the North to help you finish things off, ok?

*hugs*

20. *hugs* right back at you!
I know I'm probably coming across as pretty prickly this morning, but it is a tough day to feel attacked by your own party, and I'm responding in human fashion!

Thanks for your kindness and your humor. We'll call you when back-up forces are needed!

13. I moved from Nashville to Chicago earlier this year.
Best decision I ever made.

RED STATERS: Check out the Chicago Reader classifieds. There are literally thousands of cheap apartments available in Chicago right now. It's a renter's market.

15. We just moved from N TX to N CA 3 weeks ago
I am glad to be out of there.

As I see it now, there is no hope for progress. Lots of Americans are too stupid to see behind the lies. Bush is probably very glad 9/11 happened. Without it he would have lost this election. He was able to scare Americans into voting for a complete incompetent moron.

my condo here in Florida is already listed for sale--I started to hate it here a while ago and I am SO homesick for Maine and Massachusetts. I might even make the move without a job lined up first, something I thought I stopped doing about 40 years ago. The dumb@@@es can have this stinkin place.
