6. Military recruiters should go to every expensive private HS
and sign 'em up. Bet they would not get many takers - I mean, you know, actually fighting in the ole infantry is for the poor folks.

11. This scares the poop out of me
... as the father of a 17 year old daughter that is already being solicited by recruiters, I'm very uneasy. She's been telling them to stuff it (and that she has a 100% PTSD disabled uncle from `nam).

Local news this a.m. is at one of Tampa's richer neighborhood high-schools and save for one lone Kerry kid, the balance are chanting "Bush, Bush" ... yeah, you f-ing idiots keep chanting when your in the desert being shot at.

16. I hear you.....

...I've got a 16 year old (soon to be 17)and a 15 year old....I am very concered about the draft.

However, under no circumstances will my kids serve in Bush's Folly.

My daughter was the lone Kerry supporter in her class and was taunted for it...she looked like she was kicked in the teeth this morning as I dropped her off at school.

Our kids have to hang tough, they will be voting in the next election.

Recruiters have been at school trying to sign up the juniors and seniors....hope all of the Bush backers jump up today to secure a part in the next act of "Bush's Follies".

Hugs,
Kim

10. A draft will end the war
There's no way the younger generation will accept a draft. And we already see how chickenhawks shut up tight as drums when asked if they're enlisting.

20. Why is that?
Both candidates said they wouldn't bring back the draft.

Both candidates had multi-year pull-out plans from Iraq.

As far as the Iraq War and the War on Terror go, how were the two candidates really any different?

If a young person was concerned about the draft, there was no reason to think Kerry would've been any different than Bush.

Kerry even touted his military leadership as a campaign point. Couple that with no concrete Iraq exit plan and a draft looks certain regardless of who wins the White House.

The sooner the Democrats understand that the lack luster stance on military adventurism cost them votes the sooner they'll be able to oust the Repugs.

19. I disagree. We need to fight it every step of the way.
"making it fair" only legitimizes the draft. We should fight to stop a draft, period. If a draft is implemented, we should help people to resist it or obtain CO status.
