1. Democratic Party has filed a lawsuit over long voting lines
From NBC affiliate in Columbus, Ohio

Lawsuit Filed Over Long Voting Lines
More Than 3-Hour Wait Reported In Some Places

UPDATED: 7:10 PM EST November 2, 2004

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A last-minute lawsuit has been filed by attorneys for the Democratic Party against the Boards of Elections in Franklin and Knox counties over long lines at voting locations, NBC 4's Monique Ming Laven reported.

An attorney with the Voter Protection Project, which is affiliated with the Democratic Party, said the lawsuit was being filed in federal court because the Boards of Elections allegedly grossly underestimated the number of voters who turned out Tuesday and because of that, they did not have enough voting machines.

The attorney said there were reports of voters having to wait up to four hours in line to vote and that the wait put an undue burden on the voters. Democrats said the Boards Of Elections should be issuing absentee and provisional ballots, which are paper ballots, on top of the electronic system currently in use throughout the county, Laven reported. They said that would help the lines move more quickly.

The lawsuit is asking that voters be given the option of filing a paper ballot if they are in a line that has a wait time of more than two hours, NBC 4 reported.

The Franklin County Board of Elections issued a statement earlier in the day saying that the suggestions were impractical and that the Board added 573 new voting machines to precincts since the last election. They also said that as long as voters get in line by 7:30 p.m., they will be allowed to vote.

Voters waited Tuesday in the longest lines in years at polling places and many had at least one extra set of eyes on them when they checked in as Republicans and Democrats were allowed to challenge whether they were eligible to vote as the expensive campaign for Ohio by the presidential candidates wound to an end.

Some lines remained at least three hours long at 5 p.m. Polls will remain open until 7:30 p.m., but as long as voters get in line by 7:30 p.m., they will be allowed to vote.

The Franklin County Board of Elections said late Tuesday afternoon that voter turnout was exceeding expectations and that there will be a record turnout in the county.

Since the morning, Board of Elections officials were placing additional polling machines where needed. The five-minute voting rule was being enforced on a case-by-case basis.

2. It's going to take a bit longer
anyone in line at 7:30 gets to vote, no matter how long it takes.

And it was taking an hour or so all day....

4. Just an FYI
I walked up with 3 people in front of me and waited under a minute to sign my name and get my ballot. I am just wondering if all this "3 hour wait" is just to keep people away from the polls.

In North San Diego County at 3PM.

20. I had absolutely NO WAIT AT ALL...
This was in an SF east bay town of 100K, probably 60-40 Kerry in my estimate.

They said the lines were damn long when they opened at 7am, and stayed long until about 9am. I showed up at around 10am and there were 6/8 booths in use, and NOBODY in line in front of me.

BUT (and consider that a huge BUT, okay?) everyplace is going to be different, and you can be CERTAIN that creating 'long lines' is UNQUESTIONABLY a GOP tactic for this election in the BG states, especially those in high EV-count states that happen to be having any type of 'weather issue', like a downpour or being super-cold.

"ANYthing to win" including the widespread disenfranchisement the American People, is the de-facto mantra of the Rove Brigade.
