One thing I will do for myself and for my country:

I will not tune in to CNN, FOX CHANNEL, MSNBC, NBC, CBS, ABC. I will get my news from the internet, from Democracy Now on the television, and I will read many books... catch up, if I can, with years of putting off reading books.

I will slime the bush goons at every opportunity I get.

I will acknowledge loss (loss of power, loss of democracy, loss of the right to have our votes counted openly and honestly) and I will grieve for the hope of change and the change that did not come.

My soul will not heal until I begin to grieve. I offer this post as my first act of grieving.

I mourn the light of democracy being turned off by the bushes.

I stand in opposition to a goon.

I grieve for my great-great-grandfather Brigadier General Andrew Pickens, South Carolina Brigade, Battle of the Cowpens, who fought alongside Francis Marion (the Swampfox) in the American Revolution and gave his blood for this democracy--to see it come to naught by a bush goon 200 years after democracy was won and hailed in these United States!

line from the movie "Starman." How often I have said this to my children. Starman says (paraphrasing) that the reason he admires human beings so much is that when things are at their worst, human beings are at their best.

Well, this is the worst. But I have to believe that this is going to bring out the best in many of the very people on this website. This is where people have their eyes wide open and can take the truth, no matter how bad.

We'll have to grieve a little while, only natural, but I want to position myself and my family for the best I can against the bad times that are coming. We have to be smart. Anger won't do it, smarts will do it. So be of good courage, and let's let all this garbage just roll off us. My list: Keep alive, keep healthy and plan well.
