Will C-Span rebroadcast the hearings? Is there a text-based transcript?
I've searched, but can't find anything. Has anyone else had more success? (My computer is old and not up to video.)

4. a colleague called C-Span. No transcripts.
The committee may have transcripts in a few days after transcribing all those hours of tape. The whole thing needs to be published in the Congressional Record.

6. Will it work differently though, because it wasn't an official hearing?
If you recall, the Repubs wouldn't hold a hearing, so the gathering this morning was called a "meeting" instead. I wonder if it was so unofficial that they won't even publish a transcript? I surely hope not!

8. C-Span already has it in their archives and is charging $39.95 for it.
Here's the link:
http://inside.c-spanarchives.org:8080/cspan/cspan.csp?command=dprogram&record=135179543

Should we start an email blitz to try to get C-Span to re-air it tonight??? Does it work that way? I imagine the Intelligence Bill debate would take precedence.

7. Can somebody transcribe it from TV to send to MSM?
They need written copy to write anything about it.

Somebody must have good steno skills and could use the video link on c-span.org to produce a text file.

Somebody?

11. Transcripts are on a website.
Towards the end of the hearing, Conyers stated that the entire hearing transcript would be on a website. I don't remember exactly, but it was a Senate or House website. And it includes questions and answers that were taken after the Cspan cameras were turned off.

I think that is Conyers', but it doesn't have the full transcripts, although it does have several statements of the participants. Here's the link, if you are interested:

18. Are you familiar with Groklaw.net?
They way they do it over there is divide the thing up, and a bunch of people each take a piece. Then they trade peices, proof read, and stitch them together.

  • Who all has it on tape & would be willing to help? (I'll try to tape the re-broadcast.) Or is there anyone with a tape and the ability to MPEG it?
  • Any idea how to break it up? By time? By "events" (e.g. start of public questions, JJ's testimony, etc.)? Or some other way?

23. I didn't take you up on this earlier, because I don't have a copy, but if
I manage to record it when it re-airs early Thursday morning (supposed to be on at 4 something AM EST on C-Span2), then I might take you up on this idea. I think its a good one, because surely people need a text copy of such an important hearing (or forum).

27. Here's some of Cliff
I got home late from work, and just started on Cliff. Gotta tell you, not so easy bleary-eyed.

I'll check out the website, but so far:

“Mr. Watts referred to Afghanistan as an example – sending donkeys out to get the vote in Afghanistan – I think the most pertinent analogy to our situation is the election in the Ukraine.

They had exit polls showing one candidate win and the same situation in Ohio. Their candidate who lost – apparently – by an improper election was in the fight, as were the entire people of that nation. The best precedent for the future is to establish – firmly – on the part of the federal govt. and the state govt. that we will not tolerate Fraud – fraudulent manipulations of our elections. And we will not move on until we find out what the fraud was and we correct it. Reverend Jackson has been using the sports analogy and I think it really pertains. We have an election, which unquestionably involved many, many fouls – open conspicuous conspiracies against the civil rights of black Americans. There’s no one with an honest view of this situation can dispute this…. The lines of the black percents were 2-3-4 times as long as those in the suburbs. Some say, “gee, that’s just kind of an accident, “ but when you see that kind of an event, you better believe someone intended that. Now, why was that intended? Because somebody doesn’t like black Americans? No. It’s because black Americans have this propensity – this statistical propinquity to vote 9 time out of 10 in support of a democratic candidate. So if you are on the republican side – and as a partisan – you are trying to affect the vote, if you can suppress the black vote, you are going to help your candidate in that race. Congress woman Jackson Lee referred to Iraq and this impending date, Jan 30 in which Iraq is supposed to have a democratic election. How can we with a straight face go to Iraq and say we are going to sponsor and help you have a fair election and establish a democracy when we have this record of a corrupt election in our own country. We have to clean it up and we have to clean it up now.

What was the lesson in Florida? The lesson in Florida was the election was certified. That the election was certified, the election was officially made and a President inaugurated before they counted the votes. And it was the News media that insisted that there must be an accurate vote count. So after that official process took place, the news media got all the votes and counted them. And guess what? Al Gore got more votes than George Bush.

31. Here's cliff in full.....
All I can do for tonight and it's rough, but here it is:

“Mr. Watts referred to Afghanistan as an example – sending donkeys out to get the vote in Afghanistan – I think the most pertinent analogy to our situation is the election in the Ukraine.

They had exit polls showing one candidate win and the same situation in Ohio. And it was the News media that insisted that there must be an accurate vote count. So after that official process took place, the news media got all the votes and counted them. And guess what? Al Gore got more votes than George Bush in the 2000 election. So when people say, “never again, never again – what happened in the 2000 election should happen”, what I think they mean by that is that we should never again certify and inaugurate a candidate until we’ve established they got the most votes! I’d be happy to conclude if you would like to conclude if you would like to proceed Mr. Chairman.”

Conyers: “Thank you, thank you very much. Let’s thank Cliff Arneback, Esquire for joining us this morning. Thank you for your testimony Mr. Arneback.”

Cliff: “Mr. Chairman, Mr. Chairman, Reverend Jackson has asked me to make one other point if you don’t mind. There were two categories of fraud in the Ohio election. The first was the open and conspicuous fraud that I spoke about that Ralph Nead so eloquently addressed. The second was the hidden fraud. That can only be disclosed by careful investigation. And it’s this fraud that when you look at the statistical analysis of the vote in Ohio, you see these anomalies, these statistical anomalies that can only be explained by forms of computer manipulation that would not be conspicuous to elections officials that are a direct attack on the integrity of the election process and we have considerable evidence that that’s what took place. And that’s what explains some of the things that Reverend Jackson was talking about, candidates down the ticket performing more strongly and even getting more votes than the candidate at the top of the ticket and their own party. Thank you.”

Please feel free. I did try to edit today, but it would not allow me. I noticed the word "precinct" was misspelled, but don't remember where. Anyway, like I said...I was very tired and had had 2 glasses of wine, so someone will need to double-check, Although i do believe it's quite accurate.

And I didn't feel insulted or otherwise. I'm more than happy to help. I'm more irritated I'm working more hours than I'd like and I can't help more! I'd much rather be doing this than work!
