The Coming 40 Year War
The Republicans have won a victory today. But the war is not yet over.

We are about to embark on a 40-year war for the soul of America, to determine once again which America we want. This will be a long and drawn-out struggle. It will be fought at the local level as much as at the national. We can bitch and complain all we want about Kerry conceeding today, but tomorrow we have to pull ourselves together and continue to fight the good fight.

We have to build this from the ground up. We have a good start with the internet left, but we have to translate that into power on the ground, in the state legislatures and city councils and school boards. Eventually this will translate into Congress and the Presidency...it is how the right wing got where they are now, from 1964 to 2004. We can do it too.

We will find a new general to lead us. Wesley Clark perhaps. Or John Edwards. Or someone new to the stage.

If you're willing to fight, then take up your sword and join the battle. If you're just willing to bitch and whine, then get the fuck out. Fight for America. Be patriots!!!!!

1. The "Internet Left" could be shutdown almost immediately if
the Feds decided to do it and they will. We will need alternate means of communicating.

3. Guess what? The war for the soul of America started right after the...
...end of WWII.

First came the almost rabid obssession with ensuring that the old Soviet Union was completely surrounded. And we used the old, almost completely intact, German Army intelligence organization we called the Gehlen Org to help us do it. Is it any wonder that we believed the Soviets to be monsters as viewed through through the eyes of a revenge-minded people?

Eisenhower warned us about the military industrial complex...did anyone heed that warning? Heck, no. We watched it grow and produce jobs at a rate never before seen.

Then John Kennedy refused to toe the line...and we all know how that ended, don't we? But people still don't want to talk about that rather unpleasant chapter in American history, do they?

But into the breach strode another Texan...LBJ. He was equal to the task of escalating the war in Vietnam, and bodies were returned to the States by the hundreds, then thousands, then tens of thousands.

Nixon was supposed to be the one to further the fledgling NeoCon agenda, but Watergate put a major fly in his ointment. Along the way, RFK and MLK, Jr. were shot to death...obviously the work of lone-nut gunman. Ford, our first unelected president, cleaned up the mess just as he had learned to do while working on the Warren Commission.

IMHO, Carter was allowed to be president so that the NeoCons would be able to blame someone for the miseries of the post-Vietnam era.

And then the current slippery slope was greased with the presidencies of Ronald Reagan and El Chimpo the First. We got our first real glimpses of a modern-day American dictatorship.

Clinton entered the stage as a full-blown centrist with more escapability skills than Houdini. But the budget was balanced, the economy roared ahead at a tremendous pace, and a budget surplus appeared. But thanks to illegitimate presidency of El Chimpo the Second, all of that prosperity is gone and we are now in a state of continuous war.

And we have fallen into a fascist dictatorship.

Foreign countries have taken note of what they're dealing with...and I can assure you that they're not going to take this sitting down. The last time a country became so isolated was when the Allies worked to isolate Nazi Germany. Think about that for a few moments.
