Olbermann on...
Right now he's talking about a reporter in Chattanooga, TN (ironically, where I spent the weekend) who scripted the questions asked by the Tennessee National Guardsmen.

Yeah! Tennessee does something right after turning red!! :)

3. I'm trying to remember Edward Lee Pitts
I was a reporter in Tennessee for 10 years full time and two years, freelancing.
I've probably met him, but it will take a while for my brain to reconnect and place him. I'm sure we've run into each other in general reporting circles.
In any case, I'm very proud of that reporter today - and the Tennessee guardsmen who asked the pointed questions of Rummy. :)

Of course it doesn't surprise me or the rest of us on DU. We KNOW what shitheads they are, and that they really don't care about our troops. But maybe now some of the rest of the country will begin to see why we loathe these people.

39. "maybe now some of the rest of the country will begin to see why we loath"
Fraid not. Long story but I was in a situation yesterday where right wing radio was on and this was the topic of discussion - and I couldn't believe my ears when the commentator said something like, "why didn't they just answer this question like this months ago? It's an honest answer and legitimate too. Of course it is! You go to war with what you have, not what you hope to have down the road or want to have." or some such nonsense. I fully expected callers to blow this guy away, but nope. They called in to AGREE! I would like to send the commentator and the ppl who called in over there on a one-way ticket. Wonder how they would feel about it then. I guess I could see it if it was completely unexpected - then being unprepared is bad, but for goodness sake, this was a war of CHOICE and we chose the timing. It was errors in judgment across the board. It is also not like this subject just came up yesterday and there is no excuse why armor wasn't a number one priority the moment they realized they were short.

Don't get fooled by deadlines. Fight on to victory. Remember, Watergate took two years to get to the point where Nixon resigned. If these people did what we think they did, we should keep after them until it's settled. You don't stop looking for a mugger just because the victim dies of their wounds, do you?

Even though Nixon was "Tricky Dick," he still had more integrity in his little finger than Bush has in his whole brain - Karl Rove and all.

43. It wasn't integrity
Nixon resigned because the alternative was impeachment, and failing that lynching. People (including Republicans) were not happy with him.

That said, I'd agree that he had several advantages over Bush, including more brains and better judgement in foreign policy. But neither of them have shown much integrity.

40. This is so obvious
yet no one seems to acknowledge it. I mean, isn't this a selective enforcement of the law? They break the law so we have to wait to do anything' they break the law but they don't have to change a thing - nothing, nada. Business as usual. Only the ones who have done nothing wrong have consequences. What? Make the offenders sacrifice anything? Never. More and more I am feeling like this is set up and this whole exercise is moot.

Ummm, it wouldn't have been partisan if any Republicans had the decency to show up. They were invited to attend and contribute. They chose not to come, they weren't barred from being there. That little distinction kind of rules out the partisan accusation.

41. Another skill they seem to have perfected . . .
reverse deflection - they do the crime, we do the time. They behave in an extremely partisan manner, we bare the label. It is kind of like Bush's initiaves - the Clean Air Act, the Healthy Forest Initiative. They alter reality with everything they say and the supporters never even seem to notice . . .

But he didn't point out that the republicans had been invited and chose not to come. People who don't know that still don't know that. I'm not complaining, I thought the show tonight was great. I just wish that one line would've been added to stress that they had, indeed, refused to participate. The anti-choice people were given a choice and turned their backs on it. KKKarl wouldn't sign their permission slips, I guess.

I almost, and that's a reeeeeeallly small almost, feel badly about writing such a nasty e-mail to Bob Ney today.

They still all suck, don't get me wrong, but let's take a moment to realize that VOTING will be investigated by Congress in a bi-partisan hearing, or whatever the hell it's going to be.

That, Ladies & Gentlemen, is hot. I haven't taken my eye off the prize in Ohio by any means, but VOTING is going to get a good once-over.

p.s. Why are they making KO stand? I hate that format. They use it on a bunch of the other shows as well. Please, have a seat, sir. You look uncomfortable.

Why would you have anyone stand to deliver the news? Even someone as smooooth and smart and savvy (and other "s" words as well...) as KO? Yuck! I have a sneaking suspicion that they are fiddling around with the format because the have a hit on their hands. As I type this, there's a promo spot for his show -- during his show. Oy, I fear the worst.

And, while we're at it, I still think that caricature needs to "sleep with the fishes". As for the stories they've (he's?) chosen tonight, they are all right on the money. It is so difficult to find objective reporting and great writing. Go get 'em.

And O'Reilly's back. I still say "falafel," no matter what, is a funny word.

Williams was the succession planned candidate - think Conan getting Leno's spot instead of Stewart analogy... nbc is not into edge (KO is all about the edge :) )- nbc is into bland, boring and don't think outside the box!

who all repeat the ShrubCo lines word for word. I'm just happy that they let KO back on the air at MSNBC. And it's high time that they started promoing Countdown. Hardball gets ALL the PR budget at MSNBC. They'll release press release after press release about how Tweety is up 25% or something but KO can be up 125% and he gets barely a mention.

And on edit---from interviews I've read with Keith, he is Managing Editor for the program meaning HE chooses the stories he does on Countdown. He's also said that he writes anywhere from 80 to 90% of the scripts each and every night.

50. Tweety Blows
His questions are inane and he never lets the panelists answer. He loves the sound of his own voice, because he's the most clever person he knows. He's asked questions that *I've* known the answers to. Combine all of that with that breathless, crazy-man shouting delivery of his and, Ugh! Bad.

Glad to hear KO is ME. That makes sense. I thought I had read somewhere that he picked the stories after they were culled.

The state of the media is very, very sad. At least there are a few bright spots still left.
