Urgent Election Actions, from now to Dec. 13th (from PDA)
Email received from Progressive Democrats of America:

The House Judiciary Committee ad-hoc hearing on the voter irregularities in Ohio,
led by Rep. John Conyers (D-MI) was a huge success. Not only were 14 TV cameras
there representing a variety of networks, C-SPAN broadcast the entire 3 hour hearing
live. You can watch it at www.c-span.org. This was a direct result of the 5000+
phone calls and e-mails from PDA members.

Over the next 72 hours, we need you to keep up the momentum. First, we need you to
take action on our website. Rep. Bob Ney (R-OH), chairman of the Committee on House
Administration, has pledged to hold bi-partisan hearings on the 2004 election NEXT
YEAR. Send a message to Ney and other members of the Committee, demanding they hold
the hearings NOW.

Take the action here: http://www.pdamerica.org

At the end of the action, you’ll be asked to contact Bob Ney and John Larson (D-CT),
the ranking Democratic member of the Committee, directly. Please do so. If you can
only choose one, call Larson. He must know that it is unacceptable to follow the
Republican timeline on this issue.

We also encourage you to join your local efforts to protest the casting of the
Electoral College votes on December 13th. Actions are planned all over the country
from the 10th-13th, highlighting the irregularities in the 2004 Election. Visit
www.Nov3.US to get connected with local actions. While you’re there, read the Voter
Bill of Rights www.Nov3.US/billofrights.php and imagine how, working together, we
can make these changes happen.

Finally, pressure Ohio Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell to answer the questions
raised by Rep. John Conyers and others about the irregularities in Ohio:

General Telephone Number (Toll Free): 1-877-767-6446
General Telephone Number (Local): 1-614- 466-2655

Thank you for all your hard work to help protect our democracy. Stay tuned for
further developments. There’s not a lot of time before this election really IS
over, and there is a lot to do.

5. Which 14 cameras were there? We still aren't seeing anything
except from the C-Span feed. Anyone got more info? We could pressure some of these other networks if we knew who.

Send a letter to the editor of (Bob Ney's) local paper. He does tend to respond, even if it is only to call you a shill for MoveOn ;)

8. This is great
Definitely worth a shot, although I doubt we'd even have much luck getting help from many Dems when it's this time of year. Is anyone even still in DC or is it dark for holiday break? It's too bad the elections are held right before the absolute laziest time of the year on the Hill.

13. My revised plea
The sanctity and validity of our voting process is essential to our Constitutional rights and our democracy. How can we boldly claim that our military action on foreign soil is for the purpose of bringing democracy to the citizens of that nation, yet at home, you, our leaders, close your eyes to a threat to the very heart of our democracy and our nation? Election fraud.

Election Fraud is a very serious issue and if fraud has corrupted our 2004 Election as it appears, how can you sit quietly by and do nothing and still purport to support our troops who are dying to share our democracy with another nation? How can our president question the legitimacy of the Ukraine elections but not call for an investigation of the elections in our nation that seem to share the same symptoms of fraud as Urkraine’s? Do you not see the hypocrisy? I challenge you to actually support our troops by supporting our democracy. Stand up for the citizens of the U.S.of A and bring to us the democracy that you claim the military action is bringing to Iraq.

I am grateful to Rep. Conyers for scheduling and conducting the hearings dealing with the Ohio Election irregularities on December 8th. However, I was disheartened and disappointed when I heard Rep. Bob Ney's comment that Wednesday's hearing was, in essence "partisan attacks and unsubstantiated claims disguised as fact in a faux hearing." I ask you to please view the hearing yourself. The Cspan footage clearly reflects that Wednesday’s hearing was a legitimate hearing that dealt with the election irregularities and heard testimony relative to actual events that transpired in Ohio on and before November 2nd. Ask Rep. Conyers if you can review the documentation that was made of record on the 8th. Review the statements and affidavits and documents yourself and make up your own mind. This is not a partisan issue, this is an issue that involves each and every citizen of the U. S.

The lack of any Republican members of the House of Representatives at the hearing was disconcerting and clearly reflected that the Republicans consider this a partisan issue, their own partisan issue. Why were only Democrats present? Do Republicans not believe that election fraud is a crucial issue? I know that Rep. Bob Ney was told that the House Administration Committee will hold bi-partisan hearings in January and that "election reform is a serious issue that requires serious, bipartisan examination and debate." If that is truly the stance of the Republican members, then why weren't bi-partisan hearings held this week? Why wait until January of 2005.

The American public can't wait until January to find out what went wrong with this election. Waiting until next year loudly announces to all that this is a partisan issue and those choosing sides are the Republicans, taking the side of Republicans against the best interests of our nation. Those Democrats who are holding hearings without the support of their Republican colleagues are doing so because they are listening to the citizens, not just listening to party leaders. We Americans deserve some answers. The questions that the election irregularities/possible fraud present include, but are definitely not limited to:

What is the explanation for the counting irregularities and unusual results in the Ohio counties of Butler County, Cuyahoga County, Franklin County, Mahoning County, Miami County, Perry County and Warren County? Thousands in these counties can tell you about the machine shortages, long lines, invalidated provisional ballots, and the rejection of voter registration forms for not being on the right weight paper. If you have access to the internet or have read the print media’s coverage of the vote count, you probably have heard about or read about the over-counts, under-counts and spoiled ballots.

As a member of the House Administration Committee and as one of the leaders of this nation, I implore you to endorse the investigations into the election fraud and election irregularities. I beg you to join Rep. Conyers in the investigation of the matters that have concerned so many citizens. Stand up for democracy at home before you try to spread it to other lands. Support our troops by supporting democracy in the United States. Don't wait until January, do it now, get involved and conduct hearings now. Please convince Rep. Bob Ney that if hearings are in fact important enough to hold in January, then surely, they are important enough to hold now. Please show me and my fellow citizens that our right to vote is precious and that having our vote counted as cast is vital to the workings of democracy at home and that these issues do matter to you.

Thank you for your time. Please stand up for democracy at home.

Kinda shows his true colors, doesn't it? AND if he thinks its such a serious issue, why didn't he support and attend the Conyers' forum, in order to make sure it was bipartisan? One way for hearings to be bipartisan, is for REPUBLICANS TO ATTEND THEM! LOL

17. We need to impress upon our lovely leaders that the promise
of democracy should be fulfilled at home before we try to "inspire" others. Support our troops by supporting democracy at home.

Thanks btw!
