For all those that are saying that we nominated a lousy candidate..
I most respectfully disagree. I thought our candidate was courageous and articulate. I thought his wife was a activist who was very wise. Those that didn't not like her hairstyle or her fashion style need to update their traditionalist attitudes.

I just have accepted today that my views are in the minority. I believe in freedom of choice with respect to reproductive rights. I'm proud of it. I was a social worker who had to deal effectively with abandoned babies, brought into the World because of jerks who told the birthmother that Choice was wrong. Republicans and so-called 'pro-lifers' were not around to help.

I believe in peace and justice, and international cooperation. I believe in negotiation and diplomacy.

I believe in inclusiveness, and I believe in same-sex marriage (and I'm a hetero whose been married to the same guy for 20+ years). I believe in equal rights.

And, most of all, I believe in a wall of separation between church and state. That is the idea that our founding forefathers came up with that made our governmental system unique.

I do not want to move to the Center or anywhere else. I stand by my principles.

And I do plan to donate more to the organizations I believe in, that I have come to know as part of this effort to oust *.

1. I agree 110%, we need to stand up and be strong.
Re-evaluate your principals, but be true to yourself, be true to the cause. John Kerry ran this thing with diginity and honor just like everyone here who give their lives to this run.

2. Kerry WAS a fabulous canidate
Kerry/Edwards was the STRONGEST ticket we could have sent out.
The problem is, Americans are too fucking STUPID to appreciate Kerry and Edwards and that KILLS me.

3. I've voted for every Democratic nominee since Carter
and I honestly believe that Kerry is the finest candidate since the other JFK. I think the campaign could have been better, the public never really got to know Kerry's impressive post Vietnam accomplishments, Instead he was blanketed by loads of Repug lies. Those slime balls could not come up with a single honest criticism of Kerry!

13. Welcome to DU! and
thanks for your words! Yes, this JFK is the finest candidate we have had since President JFK. Anyone who does not see that is either too young to remember, or willfully blind to reality. It wasn't Kerry who cost us the election, it was the Fascists in power. But I must respectfully disagree with John Kerry. "Work and with reach out to the rethugs?" NEVER!

4. They are a great team!
I've been with you guys all nite and had to come to work. I am from NC and we had the priviledge of voting for Kerry & Edwards (our Sen.) and our red/neck state voted in for a 2nd term a democrate gov and leut. gov. but for every time since Jimmy Carter they voted for a repuke prez. I have been very upset today because I had become very proud of Kerry & Edwards and thought they were connecting with the people....My thoughts on why we lost is the abortion issue. It is a catch-all only issue..if you are for a dem, you are for abortion and no matter how terrible the repuke canidate is, if abortion is on their platform, they are going for that person. Makes no difference that it has been on their platform for 25 years, they dangle and keep people with that one issue and when it goes away, they will lose their base, so it won't ever go away, they use it to keep these people. My thoughts!! We had the chance to have a vp from NC and blew it. He got all 6 of my family's votes and very proud of it.

8. I wholeheartedly agree.
And I'm puzzled by those ready to pounce on Kerry this morning. Yesterday, he was your guy. Suddenly today he's a loser?

He's not the loser. The American people have lost -- possibly a fatal loss.

He fought hard. He conceded gracefully, but the vote count continues, and he knows it.

Will he continue to lead? Will he continue to fight from the senate? That will be the test going forward. If this was all about him, then we will have heard the last from him. If this was about something more, then he'll continue to do what he's done in the campaign, and for 20 years in the senate.

My conviction that John Kerry would make a wonderful president is deeper than this flawed and sorry election. I'm sorry to see that's not the case with everyone.

9. The problem was never Kerry. They could have made Abe Lincoln look bad
Who Kerry is had so little to do with the public perception of him.

We cant heroworship our way out of this problem. There will be no saviors. We, the people with knowledge and respect for democracy, have got to change the system, there is no other option.

11. I agree, I'm proud of Kerry and my vote for him.
The Bush scumbags were relentless wolves determined to attack and destroy a very honorable leader.

Let the people unhappy with Kerry vent, for some it's part of the grieving process.

12. Kerry was great and deserves better than DU has been giving
him. I was shocked to read all the posts this morning that were pounding on John Kerry. He did his best and we did ours. I personally hope that I can survive the next 4 years under Bush's regime, but I've already got my eyes cast on 2008 and will put my hopes there.
