I don't know if this has been mentioned before, most of the time I hear that SOS Blackwell waited as long as possible so that a meaningful recount won't be possible. At the same time it gives "activist" election officials enough time to clean up any signs of irregularites.

1. Probably, however every time there's a "fix" the chances of getting caught
go up because of a mistake being made. Okay by me.

2. AFGHANISTAN - a country about the size of Texas
with few roads and phones certified their first-ever presidential election 36% faster than OHIO!

Those Afghanis. So ironic. I wonder how they feel about that electoral system we imposed on them?

3. Tossing this out as a 'golden oldie'
I just moved to Minneapolis from Youngstown, OH. In Ohio, I did liberal talk radio during the 2000 and 2004 election cycles. I have had the opportunity to observe at the Mahoning County Board of Elections, and both the D and R members cannot account for the "Outer Limits" results they encountered on Election Night.

Someone here at DU called my attenton to an article in the LA Times re: Youngstown, Ohio's one precinct returning MINUS 12 MILLION votes.

Again, MINUS 12 MILLION votes.

I spent 2 hours at said BOE, and saw evidence that some machines returned with MINUS 26 MILLION votes on them. MORE than 12 precincts.

The guys at the BOE had a good explanation on how they extracted the correct vote count, but the size of the error raises all kinds of questions.

And this was just ONE county in ONE state.
