Democratic Super Summit Proposal
Edited on Tue Dec-14-04 02:24 PM by Darkhawk32
Just a thought....

Why don't we have our own "convention" per se? I mean really have a huge turnout of not just delegates but of all members and supporters. We should use this opportunity to have the leaders of the Democratic party attend in order to here our concerns and exchange thoughts back and forth between them and ourselves.

This is just a rough thought and I think it'd be a very intiguing idea to "unite the clans" so to speak. Our diversity is a strength but we need to harness it more and focus it together. I think my idea would be a great start.

The city in which to hold this is of course debatable, but I'm thinking of trying to organize an event filling a stadium the size of the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis.

The cost of this event would have to be from a grassroots effort, I do believe, but among the fine people in our party, it shouldn't be too big of a problem.

I know this has been terribly vague, but I wanted to hear your thoughts and any ideas you may have.

Thanks a bunch.

Edit: Just wanted to let you know that in the time I was "lurking" this site, I've become aware of some of the very brilliant minds and kind hearts here.

1. Personally, I don't think it's a good idea to get all of us in any one
place. :tinfoilhat:

3. Hey, Welcome to DU! That last part was really smart.
I think it might be a tad unmanageable; but it's a worthy idea. Perhaps each state could send a group, with names drawn out of a hat, so to speak. Each special interest group could draw and we would have a representative sample from each state, who could then have a naturally formed committee for the meetings at the ReBirth Convention. Could be doable.

5. That is a good idea, but I'd hope for a larger turnout than....
just a handful from each state. To really get attention, we'd need tens of thousands (make sure all 50 states and D.C. are represented of course).
