Blackwell Refuses to Cooperate with House Judiciary Democrats
Secretary of State Blackwell's response to Congressman Conyers's panel was to refuse to cooperate with it, saying he only recognizes the jurisdiction of the US Department of Justice and the congressional Government Accountability Office:

3. Not much of a suprise
Blackwell is acting as a surrogate of the Bush-Cheney team, and not as Secretary of State.

And we've all seen that people involved in the Administration are not accountable to anyone and do not need to cooperate with
anyone -- least of all Congressional Democrats.

25. They can't subpeona Blackwell.
Rep. Conyers' group is not an official Congressional subcommittee or committee, and does not have the authority to issue subpeonas or compel the production of documents.

It is a "forum". Nothing more.

Sec. Blackwell is acting within his authority by stating that he will cooperate with DOJ or the GAO, but will not provide Rep. Conyers' forum with the information they requested.

The Pagan Preacher
I don't turn the other cheek.

30. Thanks for helping us figure that out preacher.
We know that. And we'll remember this type of cooperation when the shoe's on the other foot. As Secretary of State, he's supposed to be representing all the voters of Ohio. He wasn't elected to office as the Secretary of the Bush-Cheney Re-elect Committee. He ought to remember that 50% of his constituents didn't agree with his preference for President and his actions may well have dienfranchised the majority who voted for Kerry, but had their votes canceled by his actions..

But that's OK. He's obviously got lots to hide. It will catch up with him as with the rest of the organized criminals who masquerade as Republicans. I'll enjoy seeing them taken down, one by one.

I wonder what "efforts directed to your committee" he's referring to.

Either that or he already "knows" there won't be any.

any further pretensions he might have had for higher office may have gone down the tubes. He just blew off some powerful people....

11. why am I surprised?
I should just expect the worst and yet when it happens I'm still surprised. He didn't answer a single question. He called the allegations "myths." He more or less said that he does not acknoeledged their authority over this so he won't answer. What's great is that eventually he will have to answer to the GAO because of this letter. The DOJ will do nothing of course. Unfortunately, the GAO will take forever and by the time they do anything it will be way way too late.

This person should be impeached, and later of course jailed.

Did he not read that part of the job description ??

Why hasn't the Congressman (Kucinich) from Ohio weighed in on this matter yet ? Certainly, he must be hearing from his constituents...

Course, I don't think Conyers did either.

Just gives more fuel to Conyers to be suspicious and make Katherine the second look suspicious.

shouldn't be allowed to be involved with any campaigns. Didn't we learn that lesson with Cruella deVille in 2000? We should press our reps about this!

31. Blackwell Gets "Promotion"

http://www.ntimc.org/newswire.php?story_id=1631

From: The (Humorous) Newswire

In Florida 2000, they took 57.000 democrats off the voting
roles.......in Ohio 2004, Kenneth Blackwell took 155,000
democrats off the voting rolls - nearly a three fold increase!

In Ohio 2004, Blackwell kept the recount from starting until
Dec. 13, the day the Electors are chosen. That is a significant
improvement from 2000! This time the recount will be meaningless
thanks to the brilliant stalling by Blackwell to "certify" the Nov. 2
vote in Ohio, and eliminating the need for the US Supreme Court
to rule on the matter.

President Bush is so pleased with Blackwell and his Republican Associates in Ohio that they have been selected to oversee the elections in the upcoming election in Iraq. This is a perfect fit for the Ohio Republican Chairman and his democracy crew.
