Thread for today's events!
I thought this would help us keep a log of what happens on a daily basis. Many people work or don't have access to this site while at work (me), and this is an easy way to keep up with the latest without searching through pages and pages and still wondering if you have missed something important.

Please reply to this thread with the title and post a link to the other discussion.

1. Another whistleblower!
Wisefawn posted this thread here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=203&topic_id=175334#175458

~"New affidavits point to possible criminal activity by top Ohio election officials, raising yet more questions about the 2004 vote. Rhonda J. Frazier, a former employee of the Ohio Secretary of State's office, has confirmed in an affidavit taken by Cynthia Butler, working with freepress.org, that the Office had secret slush funds. Frazier says it also failed to comply with the requirements of "The Voting Reform Grant" that required all the voting machines in Ohio to be inventoried and tagged for security reasons.

"I was routinely told to violate the bidded contracts to order supplies from other companies for all 17 Secretary of State offices throughout the State which were cheaper vendors, leaving a cash surplus differential in the budget," Frazier states, "After complaining about the office's repeated practices of violating grants and contracts I was fired."

http://www.freepress.org/departments/display/19/2004/99...

~"Citing voting irregularities, Democrat Bill Crane is asking the courts to overturn Republican Larry Householder’s election last month to the Perry County auditor’s office.

Crane filed a lawsuit Thursday in Common Pleas Court against the outgoing Ohio House Speaker and the Perry County Board of Elections, alleging that the number of votes exceeded the number of people who signed voting books in at least 11 of 46 precincts."

10. Report: Electors Across US Call for Investigation of 2004 Election
Across the US electors in at least five states, for the first time in history, turned the heavily scripted and ritualized electoral college proceedings into a forum for political action. Frustrated by the relative inattention to wide spread real voting violations now numbering in the tens of thousands, Electors called for congressional investigation and legislative action.

2. CUYAHOGA COUNTY (CLEVELAND) RECOUNT RESULTS 11/18
From bones_7672 here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=203x175361

http://www.cleveland.com/news/plaindealer/index.ssf?/ba...

"John Kerry picked up 17 votes and George W. Bush lost six in Cuyahoga County's presidential recount.

That means the county still went for Kerry giving him 448,503 votes compared with 221,600 for Bush.

Cuyahoga was among 45 of Ohio's 88 counties that completed recounts by Friday, according to the Associated Press. Numbers for the two major candidates changed little, though.

Bush added 303 votes to his state total; Kerry gained 443. The higher numbers were due mainly to hanging chads falling from ballot cards, the Associated Press reported."

4. Urgent need for recount funds NM
this came in my mail box this morning.

The Gov. of New Mexico is demanding $1.4 million or no recount in New Mexico. We'd like to have that money in the bank and then work out an agreement to start with just 10% of votes to see what we find. NOW IS A GOOD TIME TO SEND A NOTICE TO YOUR EMAIL AND CHRISTMAS LIST to tell them about our work and invite a contribution. People can donate on AuditTheVote.org.

Do with this what you will.

Looks like a fax...email and phone campaign opportuinity for DU.

I need the organization to save time. I thought I'd start it for the next few days and see how it goes.

At least now I know I'm not alone in my insanity in trying to keep up.

It's most likely too late. But it's logical. Wouldn't the judge be hard pressed by logic and law(?) to act on this before Monday?

14. Blackwell becomes responsive -- to the Perry County Suit....
Edited on Sat Dec-18-04 07:04 PM by EMunster
I'd seen the suit was being filed. Just hadn't seen Blackwell respond with any respect to any challenge. Maybe it's because the suit involves an Ohian. Anyway, Bill Crane just might be the key. He's bringing up substantially the same evidence as larger effort...

State checking for vote problems in Householder election

The inquiry began one day after Democrats filed a lawsuit that seeks to overturn the results, saying they discovered a string of irregularities that cast doubt on the outgoing House speaker's narrow victory.

This includes filing fees already spent, deposition costs and attorneys'
fees and expenses. If you are interested in ensuring that the
opportunities presented by this lawsuit are fully explored, please make a
donation to 'Ohio Election Litigation Fund' and mail it to Cliff Arnebeck,
Esq.,1351 King Avenue, 1st Floor, Columbus, Ohio 43212, along with your

lawsuit. There is no contribution too small and we thank you for your
participation in this effort.
