In order to organize and document I thought it would be a good idea to have a daily thread to place items related to the recounts/fraud. This also make it easier to "catch up" when we are away from the computer for a while.

Please help me. If you see something that isn't here post it with a link to the thread and a thanks to the author.

1. Received email asking for help from Arnebeck--here are his directions
Got this letter today from Cliff Arnebeck (I was asking him if they had deadlines for donations and what was a good way to send money). Here is what he said in the email:

----------------------

"Funds are critically needed. Contributions are fully tax deductible, inasmuch as we have two 501(c)(3) corporations backing this litigation. Loans against the money already raised and being raised on the Internet are also needed.

We have asked for $200,000, but in fact as the Bush legal team becomes engaged we need a lot more.

Any help you can now provide may affect American history, in my best judgment.

Mail (preferably Express mail) to:

Cliff Arnebeck
Arnebeck Law Office
1351 King Ave., 1st Floor
Columbus, OH 43212
614-481-8416

or, better yet Wire Funds to:

Ohio Election Litigation Fund
National City Bank
Routing #: 041 000 124
Account #: 982307158

If money is wired please advise me by Email and phone so I can be sure to monitor, send necessary acknowledgment for tax deductibility and/or promissory note for repayment any money intended as a loan.

Thank you for your help. The bills will be around for a while, so while money is urgently needed, there is not a cut off for the need for money for this project, unless Senator Kerry were to release the funds he raised for post election litigation.

Cliff"

2. Pravda Has a Field Day Over Election -- HAAHAA! (Nelson laugh)
The great American treason

12/20/2004 15:54

(snip)

But in the wake of the Bush dictatorship's coup of 2000 and the corruption-ridden "election" of 2004, the chickens have again come home to roost in America. A nation that has incessantly imposed and/or propped up fraudulent democracies throughout the world has finally become a fraudulent democracy itself, controlled by the machinations of a cabal of corrupt oligarchs who satiate Americans with the illusion of "voting," while ensuring their preordained puppets are installed into office.

Those who doubt that "democracy" is moribund in the United States need only look at the antithetical reactions regarding allegations of fraud in America's presidential elections, and allegations of fraud in the presidential elections held in the Ukraine.

Many western pundits, during their denunciations of the Ukrainian elections, routinely stressed that the alleged winner, Viktor Yanukovych, has a criminal record. Yet forgotten in these denunciations is the fact that George W. Bush is the first "president" to enter the White House with a criminal record, after pleading guilty to a drunken driving charge in 1976. Prior to this, he had also been arrested for disorderly conduct on two occasions. And, in the eyes of many throughout the world, he is a war criminal, responsible for the deaths of over one thousand Americans and tens of thousands of Iraqis in an illegal war waged on nothing but lies.

In addition, while that alleged bastion of "justice," the United States Supreme Court, corruptly and unethically endorsed the electoral fraud that placed Bush into office during the coup of 2000, and while a primary architect of that fraud, Katherine Harris, was elected to the United States Congress, the Ukrainian Supreme Court had the integrity to invalidate the results of that nation"s presidential election.

3. Democratic Party ties to Voting Machine Makers....
Today's Editorial in the Indianapolios Star shows at least two things -- that they haven't read the news since Thursday, and that they take the idea of balance so seriously that they're willing to make things up just so one side doesn't look worse than the other.

excerpts:

Make sure voters can count on system

December 20, 2004

Our position is: Americans need assurance that when they go to the polls, their votes will count.

The Ohio Supreme Court's chief justice threw out a challenge to the state's presidential election results last week...

(snip)

So the ongoing recount in Ohio, requested by two minor party candidates, is in many ways pointless.

Yet an autopsy of the election process in Ohio and throughout the nation is still very much needed. It's not a question of changing outcomes. The fact that Bush won by a safe margin can't be seriously questioned.

But the nation's system for casting votes -- which led to unconscionably long lines in Ohio and other states, inaccurate voter registration rolls, inadequate poll-worker training and claims of tampering -- still needs to be dramatically improved. Too many problems with computerized voting machines, especially punch-card and touch-screen systems, remain. Too many companies providing hardware and software for elections have ties to one party or the other...

Huh? "The other."? Do they mean the Democrats? Maybe the editoral board can enlighten us as to which company that might be? Maybe they just need to be corrected.

4. Wired: "Ohio Recount Stirs Trouble" 12/20
Starts out encouragingly, but then comes the news that woman who gave the affidavit says her words were twisted by Greens...

Ohio Recount Stirs Trouble

02:00 AM Dec. 20, 2004 PT

As a statewide election recount got underway in Ohio last week, a Democratic congressman called on the FBI to impound vote-tabulating computers in at least one county and investigate suspicions of election tampering in the state.

(snip)

But Sherole Eaton, a Democrat and the deputy director of elections for Hocking County who wrote the affidavit, said her words have been blown out of proportion. She doesn't think Triad tampered with the votes and is a little angry that the Green Party and others have spun her words to imply that they did.

5. Today's Clinton Curtis interview is online now! Please kick awhile
(This was from late last night and I didn't see it, so I'm placing this on the list today.)

http://radioinsidescoop.com/audio-archives/InsideScoop1...

Mark's guests will be Clinton Curtis, who says he was contacted by Congressman Tom Feeney (then-Republican Speaker of the Florida House), and asked to develop software to rig the election. To read Mr. Curtis' sworn affidavit, click here (courtesy of The Brad Blog, which broke the story and buzzflash.com)

For over a week, Mark has attempted to get a comment from Congressman Feeney. Feeney's refusal to respond -- even to deny the allegations -- speaks volumes.

Mark's other guest is David Lytel, founder of "ReDefeat Bush." Mark worked with David Lytel in 2000 to mount a Congressional challenge to the Florida electors.

NOTE NEW TIME!
Mark's Sunday Show has moved to 1 pm Eastern
(Noon Central, 11 am Mountain and 10 am Pacific time).

Don't miss THE INSIDE SCOOP from the man that claims that Florida asked him to rig its 2004 Election!

6. The greatest story never told......
http://www.freepress.org/departments/display/19/2004/10...

(SNIP)
The United States is in crisis, 271 years after Zenger established press freedom as a precious right of Americans. A new despot has emerged in the form of corporate control of media. Our big-city newspapers and TV networks have consolidated; what the public learns and what it doesn’t is governed by a handful of oligarchs more concerned with the financial status quo, about their earnings and pleasing Wall Street, than about informing citizens. In 1733, what King George didn’t want printed was libel. Today, what the media barons don’t want read might not be libel…but it doesn’t get printed, either.
(SNIP)
The New York Times devoted several front-page stories to the fraudulent election…in the Ukraine, that is. Its one front-page article on allegations of election fraud in Florida and Ohio carried a headline suggesting that Internet bloggers had been devising wild conspiracy theories, but that sensible folks were quickly debunking them. Meanwhile, Senator John Conyers, ranking Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, held hearings in Washington and Columbus, Ohio at which witnesses detailed gruesome incidents of voter intimidation and disenfranchisement. A software programmer offered an affidavit stating that in October, 2000, a Florida state legislator (now a congressman) had asked the programmer’s company to devise a vote-rigging prototype, which the programmer did…in time for the 2000 election. The congressman in question had been Jeb Bush’s running mate in a 1994 gubernatorial race. The allegation has not been refuted, except in the form of a non-specific blanket denial by the software company and its lawyer. The congressman remains silent.

7. 12/20 NYTIimes Editorial: "Count Every Vote" "recount empty gesture"
For the record, the phrase "conspiracy theorist" isn't even hinted at; and no "no one expects it to change the outcome" line either.

EDITORIAL

Count Every Vote

Published: December 20, 2004

(snip)

In Ohio, where a recount of the presidential election is under way, it is becoming clear that as important as recounts are, they are not enough to ensure the integrity of our elections. Representative John Conyers Jr., a Democrat from Michigan, has charged that an employee of a company that makes vote-counting software used across the state may have tampered with one county's vote tabulator after the election to make the recount come out right. If people other than election officials have free access to the tabulation software, it can make a recount an empty gesture.

Clearly the American election system needs significant improvement, starting with voter-verified paper trails for every vote cast electronically. In the current flawed system, the best chance we have of producing accurate results is to be on guard for manipulation of electronic voting machines and tabulation software, and to conduct conscientious recounts when the outcome is at all in doubt.

8. A Mainstream Media Voice & an ES&S Whistleblower
Edited on Mon Dec-20-04 11:28 AM by MelissaB
got this from Cannonfire:

SNIP>>>

I've discovered one television news outlet that has devoted an astonishing amount of time to this issue, both before and after the election. They've concentrated on the local angle, of course; local, in this instance, means Indianopolis. WISH-TV has taken a rare and radical step: They have committed journalism. Just take a look at this page, overflowing with juicy stories about problems with voting equipment.

They've also uncovered a whistleblower named Wendy Orange, who quit ES&S when the company (she says) asked her to cover up "problems" with the software.

In her letter of resignation, Orange said she found the corporate philosophy at ES&S to embody unethical and disreputable practices. She said she had "personally witnessed open discussions of potentially illegal procedures."
That quote comes from a story broadcast on May 11. Just today, WISH-TV delivered a follow-up report:

Marion County Clerk Doris Anne Sadler revealed Tuesday that the company installed illegal software before last November's election.

The I-Team first met Wendy Orange last January, when we conducted a test on Marion County's new optical-scan voting machines. Orange is the ES&S project manager for Marion County. She's the one who blew the whistle on ES&S for installing illegal software, the same software used to tabulate November's election results.

"The company with which the Marion County election board has contracted to provide its voting machines and software has willfully and purposely deceived me and the Marion County election board by installing uncertified election software and then ordering their employee to withhold that information from me," said Sadler at a Tuesday press conference.

But Wendy Orange didn't withhold that information. Her husband, Doug Orange, used to work for ES&S as Johnson County's project manager. He was fired after refusing a superior's order to zero the counters on voting machines at the courthouse instead of the polls. “I felt those procedures were illegal,” said Orange.
More:

"The software in question is called data acquisition manager and is used to compile the votes," said Sadler.

The illegal software could still be seen in the computer when the I-Team tested the system in January. Wendy Orange showed us how she takes the individual results from each card and accumulate them into one place to give overall totals for each race.
I'm still not sure I understand the technical details of this story, and I hope to hear more from Ms. Orange.

Congressman calls for investigation of election in Hocking County

2004-12-20

By David Laber
Athens NEWS Writer

An affidavit signed by the Hocking County Board of Elections deputy director has prompted the ranking Democratic member of the U.S. House Judiciary Committee to ask for further investigation into possible vote fraud.

On Dec. 13, Sharole Eaton, the county's elections board deputy director, swore in an affidavit that "the realization that this company (TRIAD) and staff would do anything to dishonor or disrupt the voting process is distressing to me and hard to believe. I'm being completely objective about the above statements and the reason I'm bringing this forward is to, hopefully, rule out any wrongdoing."

12. Hocking County investigation meeting today
The Assistant Prosecutor in Hocking County, Ohio, says that evidence tape has been placed around a computer vote tabulator there. The county's Deputy Director of Elections swore she saw an employee of the machine's manufacturer The Triad company manipulating that machine last week. Congressman John Conyers of Michigan asked the county prosecutor and the FBI to examine. The country says they are taking his request seriously. Says Assistant County Prosecutor David Sams:

"There is a board meeting Monday morning with representative of the Secretary of State's office, as well as with Triad. Everyone's been invited, and if there's a problem, there's a problem, and if not, this matter will be put to rest. ... We're going to have this employee show us exactly what he did. ...I hope nothing improper was done. It's likely to be a case of 'no harm...no foul.' Hopefully at the end of the day, Keith can crumple this story up like one of his papers and throw it out."

19. Kerry may be being smart
I know this looks like it shouldn't be here, but in this intv., from Democracy Now!, Robert Parry alludes to Kerry's investigative skills. And the whole thing is a funny-but-sad parallel of the situation with this investigation and the mainstream media. Sorry if this is a double.

From Amy Goodman interview with Robert Parry about the recent suicide of investigative journalist Gary Webb, who reported the CIA-contra-cocaine connection, and then watched his career go down the tubes.

http://www.democracynow.org/article.pl?sid=04/12/13/145...

AMY GOODMAN: we're joined on the telephone now by Bob Parry, veteran investigative journalist, wrote for AP and Newsweek. His reporting led to the exposure of what's now called the Iran-Contra scandal. His latest book is called Secrecy and Privilege: The Rise of the Bush Dynasty to Watergate and Iraq. Welcome to Democracy Now!

ROBERT PARRY: Hi, Amy.

AMY GOODMAN: I heard it from you this weekend that Gary Webb had died of an apparent suicide. Can you talk about Gary?

ROBERT PARRY: Well, I received a call Saturday from the Los Angeles Times asking if I could comment about Webb’s death. I went on and explained that the Country owes a huge debt to Gary Webb. What he did was revive a story that some of us at AP and then later Senator John Kerry looked into in the mid-1980s of how the Reagan-Bush Administration had financed the contra war in part by allowing the Contras engage in cocaine trafficking. The evidence even in the mid 1980s was quite strong. Kerry did a fairly good investigation that was published in a report in 1989, but throughout this, the Washington Press Corps, the Washington Times, L.A. Times denigrated the story. The Reagan-Bush stories denied them by and large and that's where the story was left. Kerry was ridiculed for being a conspiracy theorist for following the leads. It was Gary Webb who revived that investigation in 1996 with his series in the San Jose Mercury News, and again, he was assaulted by these same news elements, the New York Times, the Washington Post, L.A. Times, and what he did was he provoked an internal investigation at justice, at the CIA, and those investigations while they -- the press releases tended to be protective of the agencies, the information contained in the long reports was devastating. Essentially, the CIA admitted that it was involved with the Contras, who were actively participating in cocaine trafficking. The CIA Inspector General said more than 50 Contras and Contra units were implicated in the cocaine trade, that the CIA knew about it in real time, that it hid the evidence, that it obstructed justice. All of these things were admitted by the CIA itself, by 1998, in response to Webb’s series. The great tragedy, I suppose, of the personal tragedy and professional, is that despite these admissions, the New York Times, the Washington Post, and the L.A. Times still refused to deal with the facts. It seemed almost like the editors had more of a stake in covering up the truth than the CIA did. So, Gary Webb’s career was allowed to be ruined. The people who were involved in these -- in protecting the CIA from those major papers, their careers blossomed. Jerry Seapost, the executive editor of the San Jose Mercury News, who sold out Webb and his series received an award from the Society of Professional Journalists for ethics because of what he did. So, it seemed like all of the people that did the wrong thing got the benefits, and Gary Webb and people who -- including John Kerry, who did honorable work on this topic, received no benefits at all, and in fact were damaged.

22. Officials Make Triad Representative Repeat His Actions
PLease forgive if this is a Dupe -- I just heard it at lunchtime on local Public Radio Station (WMUB), in the local news highlights. They said that the Officials (Ohio Supreme Court too maybe (?) made the Triad Representative repeat what he did at Hocking -- and they were satisfied that no tampering took place -- or that no fraud took place.

My question is HOW LONG did it take him to do this "repeat" -- didn't it take like 2 hours when he was in there originally? And why are all these Triad representatives (or other e-voting company) representatives showing up before a count and "sticking around" ?

Again, sorry if a dupe -- but looking forward to some answers... from somewhere.... sometime....

(Oh, he's talking about Watergate and Republicans who got involved in talking to Nixon about the national interest ... "partisanship in matters of honesty and integrity ... nothing partisan about the search for truth ... nothing partisan about having an honest election.")

NASA contractor Yang caught in apparent lie over illegal alien; Questions raised about Chinese spying

By John Byrne | RAW STORY Editor
In an effort to refute charges made by a former employee that the company aided in the development of a vote-rigging prototype, a NASA contractor has ensnared itself in an apparent lie.

The company, Yang Enterprises, asserts that a Chinese national who pled guilty to sending sensitive U.S. missile detection technology to China had never been an employee of the firm.
The records, however, show otherwise.

Wash. Supreme Court to decide fate of King County disputed ballots

11:00 AM PST on Monday, December 20, 2004

By KING and AP Staff

TUKWILA, Wash. - Washington's Supreme Court will hear an appeal Wednesday morning by Washington's Democrats, who are asking the court to overturn a judge's decision and allow King County to include 723 disputed ballots in the hand recount of the Washington governor's race.

The historic race for governor comes down to one remaining county: King County. With every county but King reporting recount results, Republican Dino Rossi has a lead of 50 votes over Democrat Christine Gregoire in the extremely tight race for governor.

27. This one doesn't have to do with fraud in this election, but it does
mention Kerry and fraud.

Kerry Speaks on BCCI

Kerry Speaks on BCCI: "Financial transparency is more important than ever"
19 December 2004

John Kerry spoke out today about the BCCI affair calling "for regulators on both sides of the Atlantic to tighten their anti-money laundering procedures." Kerry led the Senate investigation of BCCI in the early 1990's.

Senator John Kerry has slammed the Bank of England over its handling of the Bank of Credit and Commerce International (BCCI) disaster and warned that London remains vulnerable to another major scandal.

6. From the interview: (Ed Shultz radio show)

...He also said he and other would be back in Columbus, OH on the 3rd of January (another hearing?) I'm not sure. He agreed with Ed that what is happening in Washington State with the Governor's race WILL SET AN IMPORTANT PRECEDENT for counting votes in other states. Apparently, there are several hundred absentee ballots that were just set aside by the poll workers, who then forgot to count them. Will the Washington Supremem Court allow them to be counted in the recount? If they do, then other forgotten or misplaced or election poll worker mistakes will have to be rectified in a recount. And, yes, at the end Ed asked him if he thought one Senator would stand up on 1/6 and contest the electoral vote. He said "absolutely", they will, and he believes more than one will stand up and contest. Conyers sounded very optimistic about the whole vote fraud investigation in Ohio and seems to believe we will prevail!

The Ohio Recount: The Stealth Recount

12/20/04 12:00pm

'Recount? What recount? Are you talking about the new election in
the Ukraine?' If you ask the average person on Main Street, USA
about 'The Recount', that is the answer you are likely to get, if
the person is even aware of the Ukraine election turmoil. If you
then follow-up with asking them if they know about the Ohio recount,
they will probably ask you what is being recounted. Such is the
situation with the press' reporting of this important concluding
event in the US Presidential election.

32. 37 Reasons to Ignore Election Fraud and the Ken Starr Rodeo

Monday 20th December 2004 (20h29) :
37 Reasons to Ignore Election Fraud and the Ken Starr Rodeo

Voting, Rodeo, and Football Fans:

-snip-
The U.S. voting system is broken, let’s ignore it. I have outlined
the 37 arguments AGAINST re-voting and re-counting (Ohio and Florida
in particular) below. And in the spirit of the anti-election reform
crowd (in a football parallel), "No, the fans, players, or coaches
may not challenge the results."

-snip-
If you ever wonder why your head spins, look at all these arguments
against re-counting or re-voting. For what they lack in quality they
certainly make up for in quantity. Since Bushers are usually
first to frame the arguments
, I am taking charge this time to
help you get a handle on what is going; I have compiled the 37
arguments (references below) against challenging this past election
so everyone will see the utter weakness of the obstructionist
arguments
. Every argument you read or hear from now on can be
referred to by its new short title (in bold):

37. LaRouche Spurs Broad Fight
This article appears in the December 24, 2004 issue of Executive Intelligence Review.

LaRouche Spurs Broad Fight Against Bush's Election Theft

by Edward Spannaus

-snip-
" 'We've got them dead to rights on violations of Federal law, on
Voting Rights Act violations," said Lyndon LaRouche in an interview
on a Columbus, Ohio radio station on Dec. 16, in discussing how the
Republicans stole the Nov. 2 Presidential election. "That is a
crime," LaRouche continued. "That's a five-year federal sentence, to
be caught doing that crime! Whereas simple vote fraud is more
difficult to deal with. But, if you go at the criminal violations,
which are Federal criminal violations, in terms of election
tampering and in terms of Voting Rights Act frauds, then you open up
the whole area, you have to investigate the whole territory, in
which these crimes have been committed—which means the entire
question of the vote fraud is now looked at, from that standpoint."
