"MM" Unplugged! (FUN!) "Harry Reid Leading the Dem Revolution?"
Edited on Mon Dec-20-04 10:40 PM by KoKo01
Do you think a possible good outcome of Bush winning could be that more people, particularly young people, are becoming radicalized?

I'm confident that's what will happen. I hate to think that that's a good thing, because it means over the next four years some people, many people, are going to have to suffer. But, you know, my hope was that young people would get out and vote, and they voted in record numbers. I don't know why that story hasn't been told. It was the largest turnout of eighteen- to twenty-nine-year-olds since eighteen-year-olds were given the vote in '72. And it was the only age group where Kerry got the majority.

(SNIP)

How depressed were you in the days after the election?

I cut the TV off and stayed in the house for about three days. Then, finally, a friend of mine said, "Our daughter is in a fifth-grade play. Do you wanna come watch it?" And I said, "Yeah, that sounds like something I would like to do."

(SNIP)...Moore compares vote to Women's Rights)...

What was the play?

It was about the life of Susan B. Anthony. I sat in the back of the classroom listening to them re-enact her life, and I thought about how women had been trying to get the vote since the 1840s, and those first women never lived to see a voting booth -- and yet they never gave up. They were ostracized, shunned, called un-American, anti-God, anti-family, and they never gave up. And at the same time I started to tear up, thinking, "These poor kids. What have we done to them now with this election?" But it was good to get out of the house .

(SNIP)........Moore responds with "dark humor" about the "Chimp Emperor."

Are you sort of serious about this?

I'm absolutely serious. You see, we think we got to run the guy who can write the legislation and set the policy. But the people who vote for Bush know that he doesn't set the policy and write the laws. They just like him personally. They like what they see, which is the act. They like the character. They like the C student. They like the cowboy and the ranch. There's no ranch. That's a movie set that Karl Rove created, you know? But that's OK. It's a comforting image. And we have to run the wonk.

(SNIP)

The guy who's lecturing you.

Right. You know, "Hey, let's get Evan Bayh! And we can have Harry Reid as the Democratic leader in the Senate. That's right! Harry Reid will lead the revolution." Are you kidding me? Americans love stars. Clinton was a rock star.

Much More of the Moore...interview here.....

1. Dude, WTF???
"Do you give any credence to these Internet conspiracy theories about the voting machines in Ohio?

Nah. And I don't have a double standard here. I've stressed since 2000 that Gore won the popular vote. Now, even if Kerry won Ohio, clearly more people across the country wanted Bush than Kerry. So there you go. Deal with it.
"

Unreal. I'm speechless that he said this.

2. Read the whole Moore Inteview...he was being really "dark humor" and
"cynical." If you read it all you understand what he was saying...and it was really a great interview!

Read "between the lines." That's all I ask. Hit the link and read it again...you might see it differently...if you can look for the "dark humor." Really...

4. Well there's only a handful of questions, but still
are you saying he believes there was election fraud? I'd like to see that in print.

6. He talks about turning off his TV for three days and Susan B. Anthony....
WHAT? You want him to spell it out for you! He says huge turnout of youth vote and their vote was trashed....

Can you get...Subtlety? How much more "in your face" does Moore have to get to tell you he believes the "vote" was trashed.

Until WE can PROVE how it was trashed do you want him to make up stuff???

He knows...but how can we or Moore be believed until we find the culpret...the source code...going back to 2000.

Moore did a movie about Gore/2000 Election stolen...folks seem to want him to put himself on a cross or lay down on the road and show the "tracks on his back" to pass "our test."

Read the WHOLE interview...read between the lines. Moore sure sounded to me like he is for Upholding our RIGHTS TO VOTE ...

 'least that's what I saw in my read of the interview.

8. uh, calm down
your all caps and exclamation points don't make the interview on paper anymore convincing that it reads. I'm clear on MM, and I was clear on election fraud before MM even started listening to Palast and using Palasts work in his movie to sell tickets.

Anyone who has the power to influence folks might fare better if they didn't always employ "sarcasm" to make a point. Sometimes, the straight truth can mobilize much better.

And besdies all that, I'm sick to death of reading between lines. Read between Kerry's lines, read between MM lines.

Enough! In case anyone isn't paying attention, Inauguration day is 31 days from now.

5. Yes....you could say "sarcasm" and "gallows humor." That's how I read it
anyway. Moore was being OTT... Interviewers looking for Moore to be towing some "Activist"line better look out. Mike Moore can beat them at their game. And that includes "Rolling Stone" which has become much more "mainstream media" than in the days when they were the "newbies on the block."

I love that Moore throws their "questions" back in their face...Good for him. He still gets his points across that young voters saw their votes corrupted and he makes the point about Susan B. Anthony.

Moore is "Subtle/Sarcastic/Gallows Humor....but he's a Great Read! He always does the "unexpected" and beats the "MSM" at their own game...

I wish more DU'er could understand this....

7. I should say
that I, myself, am in severe cynical mode big time nowadays. I mean, I'm sitting here listening to the news (which I can barely manage anymore)and Bush is saying that he has" seen the look in his (Rumsfeld's), uh. . , heard the tone of his voice and he is blah blah blah a good secratary of defense yada yada yada blah blah blah deeply caring man"

I mean, someone just shoot me now. I can't take anymore of this twilight zone shit. Christmas is in five days and my vulgarity increases exponentially with every passing soundbyte while my sense of charity decreases at the same rate. In order for me to go back to the kinder gentler trusting Danielle, I would have to get rid of the computer, the radio, the TV, the car, and basically remove myself from civilization in order to be balanced again and have any real hope in our species. This president is ruining my life and my sense of optimism. I hate the son of a bitch so much I can't stand it.

<sigh>

9. Turn off the TV....Read Carefully articles posted on DU and figure.....
Edited on Mon Dec-20-04 11:08 PM by KoKo01
we are all in a "hiatus" mode until Jan 2nd....

One's head could spin with it all..the spin is the thing....we are being spun particularly hard these days...Le Resistance...always gets the "Counter Resistence."

It's the new world....

But, there's a "core" that will hang in there....after a break...it isn't going away...doesn't do any of us any good to get "Over-Spun" and "Burned Out."

Breaks...even though this is addictive...I know. :D I thought Moore's article was a good "guidepost" to us...if one reads the whole thing.

"Eyes on the Prize" and all that stuff we here...but that's just me...

10. On further inspection, you're wrong.
MM was on the tonight show saying that Bush got more votes. He doesn't believe there was fraud.

11. ..yes.... but perhaps....
he is just stating the obvious -- bush got more votes -- and not saying one way or another *how* he got them, within a month of the election, Bush's approval ratings are below 50%.... maybe (speculation here) maybe, he's letting this line speak for itself.... for introspective folks to see how weird it really is....

12. Things aren't always what they seem...took me a long time to understand
that...we are up against something very dark. It will take cleverness to overcome it. The "Truth" hasn't worked...

not only does it go against the physical laws of nature, it goes against the essence of peace and justice.

But anyway. . I'm done for the night. Good luck, folks, in rwading between the MM line's

15. I said "Cleverness" not "darkness against darkness." Didn't you read?
Did you read Moore's whole interview? I wonder because you replied so oddly to my post.

Being more clever in "outfoxing" one's opponent when they don't listen or care to hear the "TRUTH" and don't in fact know what the word means...says one has to find another method of "attack."

 you don't understand what I'm trying to say?

19. Bush *did* get more votes. He just got them frauduently.
As KoKo1 said in an earlier post, we can't expect him to publicly categorize the election as fraudulent until the evidence is gathered.

16. If Politics makes one crazy.....it says alot about "Whom" we elect to
serve us here, doesn't it...

We are called to make them accountable that they are making us crazy...

It's not fair...it's not what we read in our history books or what we were taught about America and our Constitution..but all governments are fragile and can be "taken over" by malevolent interests.

We just don't always see it coming. As a person who was close to WWII who had many relatives who knew what Hitler and Nazi's were about...I probably take it more to heart than some of you who are after me.

Believe me...these folks are "dark forces" and we are called to show them out for what they are... Every generation has it's challenges...

I guess this is ours..

17. I don't know what to think about the election. I have no trust left.
My mood matches yours! I can not stand to see anyone
in Bush's administration on TV or anywhere else.
I have never had so much mistrust for the government.
I keep hoping that something miraculous happens and
that tomorrow will be a brighter day. But for now,
I feel I am living in a dungeon.

22. Thank you. Boy ,do you spell out how I am feeling!
I can't sleep and am not pleasant to be with either!. I reread this interview and Moore is NOT being sarcastic. Give it a rest people. He says what he means. How many times does he have to say it? I believed it was sarcasm at first on the tonite Show. I no longer do. This was very specific. He mourned the loss of an election. Period. He probably thinks there was some fraud ,but not enough to turn the election. That was Kerry's original reaction, and is still what the Democratic leadership believe! I wish people would stop trying to parse Moore into saying what they want to hear. I think there was a stolen election. Moore doesn't. As he says "deal with it".
Thank you gain Donalin for some perspective! Try and have a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, whatever!

20. Votergate site

"As democracy is perfected, the office of the president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron."
