Silver Lining?
In every bad situation, I try to look for the silver lining.

In the case of the election, the one GOOD thing I can see it that Bush and Co. will have to take the ENTIRE blame for Iraq. If Kerry had won, the republicans would have tried to skew history by claiming Iraq was a failure due to Kerry. That won't happen, and Bush will forever be tagged with the Iraq war, which he deserves.

15. You guys know that the LA Times never endorses
candidates for president but Monday's Op-Ed piece was titled
"Our Condolences To The Winner"
It listed all the crap going on and the burden to fix it, whomever is elected. LOL!

4. Well, there ya go!
My yoga teacher was trying to make me feel better tonight by saying that..in everything(like this election)..you ask for the highest good for everybody and maybe bush getting in by whatever means for a 2nd term is the highest good..but won't be revealed to us until later.

It won't be because bush is good for America and the World but as a means to getting us to something better.

19. That was my prayer Tuesday night...
that whatever happened be for peace, justice, and the greatest good of all concerned. When I stumbled off to bed at 1:45am, my last thought before drifting off into a short, troubled sleep was, "Ok, God/Goddess/Universe...ya wanna explain this one to me? Want to tell me exactly HOW this is for the greatest good of all concerned?"
And even though I'm deeply saddened and angry at the outcome, after 8 hours sleep, I wake up this morning, thinking maybe the greatest good is giving these idiots enough rope to hang themselves. At this point, though, it's slim consolation.

I agree, he has made his bed, now he can sleep in it. It will be hard for the GOP to spin the blame when the shit hits the fan.

8. No silver lining for black people...
We feel the brunt of everything that's wrong with this country. When white Americans catches a cold, damn near everyone else gets pneumonia.

You all who are caucasian don't see the ugly side of these EVIL-angelist right wingers. These people are really ugly. They don't want us to vote, work at good jobs, get adequate health care, or anything else. These conservatives are some really funky-assed people.

I think God for all you intelligent-minded people here who actually cares. We need to connect we ALL peoples around the world. With a global boycott of American-owned companies, we can bring these thugs to their knees.

14. I do agree, African-Americans are getting royally hosed as always
Edited on Thu Nov-04-04 02:15 AM by lachattefolle
My husband invited a co-worker and his wife to dinner a few weeks ago. Since his co-worker is black, I was looking forward to some serious conversation about how we can win back the White House. Imagine my surprise when he showed up with his caucasian wife from a red state and they vote Republican. This guy must have it in for himself.
I am a caucasian female and it's sad I'm more concerned about his welfare than he seems to be. He told me he was voting for the one who was "better for his bottom line". Hell, since we are upper middle class also, maybe I was an idiot not to vote for my "best interests". NOT, at least today along with swollen eyelids I have my self-respect. Sometimes people are just way beyond my comprehension.
Two days ago my soon to be divorced evangelical friend called up and started yelling at me how awful Kerry was and what a flip-flopper and she was voting for * because he was a "moral man". Today she says CPS is cutting funding for her two grandkids at daycare at the end of the month. This was the same person who said not long ago that only stupid people didn't have health care in this country. Now I'm supposed to feel sorry she has to pay out of pocket. What the hell is wrong with people in this country?
No sympathy from me for any * voter ever.

On edit: She lives in a red state.

22. nor for women
and I fear the treatment you are already receiving as a culture will be raining down on women (of all races) very soon. Right after they finish stripping the gays of their rights and hammer some more on yours.

We're all basically fucked. No kissing and no lube first, either. Just bend over.

10. You got it
Remember how Nixon inherited the Viet Nam war ? Kerry would have been in the same position - damned if he does, damned if he doesn't.

Bush broke it, it's his. Plus with the house and senate republican, no excuses.

18. Puh-lease
The repukes will still blame anyone else but * for Iraq. And when we suffer more terrorist attacks throughout the world & increasing violence in Iraq, they will NOT accept any responsibility - will not acknowledge that the nightmare of a foreign policy of this administration led to all of this violence. "It's all the terra-ists fault, not mine."

However - you are right in one thing. Had Kerry become our President, they would have wholeheartedly blamed EVERYTHING on him, regardless of when things actually happened. And with the repuke control, Kerry would not have been able to accomplish much.

And they will take credit where no credit is due - remember, some still claim that the economic health we had with Clinton was all due to Reagan!!

Americans don't care about iraq anymore. We care about "moral values". Heard it on NPR even.
