Poll question: How far will the GOP go to get Rossi in WA Gov office?
Edited on Fri Dec-24-04 11:29 PM by merwin
Simple question actually... Now that it's been proven that Gregoire was the clear winner with a tremendous mandate (130 vote advantage). How far do you think that the GOP go in order to get Rossi into office (whether it is successful or not).

1. Other -- give Gregoire the Carnahan-Wellstone treatment
the next time she gets in a small plane.

2. Other: As far as they have to
Unless the juxtaposition between us in Ohio and them in Washington is too burdensome. We should, therefore, make it as burdensome as possible.

5. lol, i had to look juxtaposition up :-) Good idea though, get all
of the republicans angry and bitter over Gregoire/Rossi. It might get two things accomplished. One, get the MSM at least somewhat interested in Fraud claims... two, distraction from Ohio... make things a little easier for us over there.

7. I don't think we want to distract from Ohio
We want as much light as possible. Bad things happen in the dark. See: Green county, Warren county.

8. Well, we can't get the media any more distracted from Ohio, so we might as
well get the Republicans distracted for a while.

6. Exactly. We need to make the parallels with Ohio very clear...
...that way if they keep pushing in WA, everyone can see how incredibly two-faced they are with their treatment of Ohio.

...to all my RW-leaning friends. Because I believe, like John Kerry, that EVERY vote should be counted. And as long as there are any questions, it's the only patriotic thing to do.

10. They will do whatever they can to steal this one too
but I really don't think the supremes have jurisdiction. I didn't think they did in Bush v. Gore either, but it was a federal case. I am sure that one of those activist cons will think of something.

Happy holidays to all!

13. I don't think they can take it to the Supreme Court
Edited on Sat Dec-25-04 12:39 AM by BanzaiBonnie
My understanding is that the laws regulating elections are the same in all counties in Washington state. They are all equal under the law so that one won't fly.

I'm hoping Rossi is SOOL.

Before his boorish behavior showed him for the big baby he is I was going to suggest that he and Gregoire co-govern. Yep back to the play yard for them. Learn to share and play nice with others. O8)

24. I don't think so. Any case can be appealed to the SCOTUS.
For example the Roe Vs. Wade case was a state issue, but reached
the SCOTUS.

15. Other, they will declare Washington
a terrorist state, that Gregoire used WMDs in the last recount, and then they'll send in the marines. The good people of Washington will be overjoyed at seeing the US military intervention and will greet the soldiers with flowers and smiles. Gregoire will be found hiding in a sauna and arrested. Rossi will then be crowned govenor for life, doves will land on his shoulder and the voice of God will boom forth from the heavens proclaiming "IT IS GOOD".

16. Washington to Washington
The radical/mainstream talk radio here is already talking RECALL
( ala Gray Davis in CA ). Hey, we just proved here that actually hand counting, looking at EVERY ballot, CAN make a huge difference
( substitute Gregoire's Governorship for Kerry's Presidency ). This will be the PR reasoning/justification behind the same thing happenning soon in Ohio re. Kerry. And the results for that "other" Washington will be the same.

Democrats leading in BOTH Washingtons.

That's my sincere Holiday wish for all my brothers and sisters here at DU , and for the future of our World. Peace... from Seattle

19. I'll tell you what
if they begin pushing this recall/revote scenario, we need to blast this to the four corners of our country and we need to skip the enuendo and just lay it out like Murkins are 4 years old. Simple words and simple actions and compare, compare, compare. After all what's good for the Washington (state) goose is also good for the Washington (DC) gander.

We should go on a serious shaming the shameful binge. Slap their hands and make them hang their heads.

18. Irony Abounds.
It would be a great time to tell republicans, thank you for pointing out that all votes should be counted. may I have your signature on the petition and future legislation to make elections wholly transparent and the private sector removed from the touchstone of our democracy...

20. Good idea, but
of course the first thing they will ask is "will signing this petition insure that Republicans will win?".

Since they're a pretty stupid bunch, just tell them "of course" and they'll gladly sign.

25. If She Lives To See Inauguration, She'll Be Alright
The righties have no case to buck to the Supreme Court. If they actually try to maintain that some voters were disenfranchised, the Dems simply can haul out those ballots which weren't counted even though the voters did their part.

27. WHY???? is this race so damn important to the repukes?
Why won't they just let the winner take office? What are they up to? Surely it can't just be that they are sore losers. Can it? WTF is the big deal? LET THE WOMAN TAKE THE OFFICE THAT THE PEOPLE OF WASHINGTON WANTED HER TO HAVE!!!! They MUST HAVE some kind of plot that needs a repuke Governor in office so they can implement it. Voting machines needed to be rigged in 2006?? Maybe??
