For all here who naively said things like
"we cannot act like them" or "we are better than that" I ask you, How do you feel about the 'high road' now?

And for those who are saying that we have to keep fighting (politically), especially on the local level, I ask, "Why?"

Have you not learned that you cannot fight against an enemy who controls the means of battle on their terms? The ballot box (or black box) is not the way we are ever going to change things. Their power will become more and more entrenched.

Democratic politicans have lost my respect, and support. They are more concerned with protecting their meager jobs and perks than representing us, the people who put them in those positions. Kerry conceding is just a replay of the 2000 Congressional inaction on the theft in Florida. Until there is someone who will fight for us, they will get not one more penny from me. I've been fooled for the last time.

The proper actions and the only ones that have any chance of success, are direct ones that bypass the political system that is so stacked against us. People can read into that whatever they want, but the future of my two daughters is too important to me to fade quietly into the background by continuing to support a corrupt system.

We must fight them BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY. There are no rules anymore. The real war has started.

1. What does that mean?
This sounds like a call for action, but what action? Civil disobedience might make you feel better for a while, but will it really acheive anything? I cant see any action, other than a regrouped political effort, that CAN have any effect.

7. Civil disobedience is the feel-good masturbation of those
not willing to do what is necessary. All those protests sure stopped the war on Iraq, didn't they?

Political action is useless when you cannot even get to the ballot box.

I do not specify what the "actions" should be - that is up to each individual?

11. Thank you, I have been saying that over and over
Talk of holding the White House under siege and half-assed attempts at sedition are just futile self-indulgence.

12. Oh please
What do you think you will accomplish? Lets get real here. If we claim to be the party of tolerance and civility, we need to act like it. Ive heard to many keyboard tough guys come out and say its time to do.....what? You gonna go bash someone in the head cuz they voted bush? Blow up a polling station? Steal some bush bumper stickers lol? What exactly do you think would be effective, short of political regrouping?

The answer, my passionate friend, is nothing. You might (assuming youre not just blowing smoke) you might end up in jail and not able to vote next time. You might hurt someone, or some people, who dont deserve it. You might hurt yourself. But doing something stupid will definately NOT change anything.

15. It means we need to get "Down and Dirty"
No more gloves. No more high road. Smear. Lie. Cheat. Prostitute and drug stings for Repuke dignitaries. Whatever it takes. Get used to it because this is the only way Dems is going to win.

3. We must fight them by LEGAL means.
Break the law, and you won't be around to protect your daughters.

It's OK to take the "low road", so long as you comply with the law. Morality v. Law -- get it?

8. Why obey the "law" when it is irrelevant?
Results are the ONLY thing that matters. And if you are smart enough, you do not get caught.

The history that most Americans seem to have forgotten is that we won our independence from England, not by playing by their rules (laws), but by doing what was necessary for victory.

But, I fear that Americans have gotten too lazy and complacent and comfortable to really fight for anything.

17. The law is not irrelevant.
The ReThugs get away with breaking the law because they control the US Justice Department. If you break the law, you will be prosecuted.

Basic tenet of war: do not make commence battle until you know that victory is assured (because you've laid the proper groundwork).

Play smart.

21. Results are NOT the only thing that matters
The reason I'm not a Republican is because I don't beleive in the "win at any cost" mentality. When you begin to act like them, you simply become them. How does this solve anything? How does abandoning the 49% of the population that voted with us make us any better?

Do you really think that if we begin lying and cheating and stealing our way into office we will magically turn back into good guys when we get there?

Fuck that. I'd rather lose and keep my conscience clean than win by underhanded means.

I meant using every legal means (v. illegal means) at our disposal.

revive the Weather Underground?

Kerry fought his ass off for us. We might not have agreed with him on every issue, or on his tactics, but he gave it everything he had. In the end, he lost, TinFoilHat brigade theories about Diebold notwithstanding.

10. Kerry did shit.
Not one time did he call * on any of his lies.

Violence is the only thing that the cowards on the right will respond to. As long as the left tries to stay "above the fray" in terms of tactics, we are doomed to fail.

13. Their actions will come back to haunt them.
It just may take some time.
We will see them pay the price for what they have done.

However, I fight that feeling every minute, I really want to reach out and choke the slimy bastards who let this happen.
I am fighting within to keep from violence against the neo-cons.

14. I am not so sure about that.
I have seen lots of nasty people prosper while waiting for them to have "it" come back and haunt them. I have never seen a single case where "it" really has. I now believe that this idea is nothing more than ignorant superstition.

I have stopped believing in an equalizing force that creeps out from invisibility just to "pay those bastards back" on our behalf. Such a force simply does not exist.

I now understand that the world is how we make it. We can let the evil bastards impose their bogus morality upon us, or resist.

Shame on us for handing the world over to the Antichrist <smile> without a fight. The suffering of the hundreds of thousands of innocents due to this new conservatism is upon our heads due to our intellectual pride, and our unwillingness to be honest about what we see, know, and feel.

Stupid people do not understand subtle gestures, and a whole bunch of them just set our nation on a very very bad course.

Their "morality" is nothing more than greed with a halo

Edited on Thu Nov-04-04 01:51 PM by Mountainman
I'm not a bible thumper but I like this one, "For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and suffers the loss of his soul."

I don't believe in hell but to give up on your values to me is to lose your soul in this lifetime.

27. "The real war has started."
The real war started long ago and still far too many Democrats don't realize it. We've been losing one major battle after another, most of the times surrendering without a fight. This is our Valley Forge moment.

Kerry's concession was just the latest chapter.
