2. One DUer has offered an interesting suggestion...
involving e-mailing or faxing photos of everybody's asses to said senators. Sort of a mass photo-moon.

6. All that will accomplish is make the life of a low level staffer or intern
unpleasant. Senators don't open their own mail, get faxes or check their office's public email account.

4. me?
i'm gonna register as a green and send them each a letter telling them why they lost me...

no, wait. i did that in 2000 AFTER they refused to stand up on the floor of congress to contest voter fraud.

i guess i'v only one fitting response left in my arsenal.

I fart in their general direction.

11. Please seriously consider the effect on the rest of us, some of
us Green already.

lol

They don't care if we register Green because they expect us to vote with them in the nationals.

No, my vote would be to go on a "no incumbent left behind" tour. As if we could vote them out, right?

Still, as these are fictitious times to quote Moore, I'd love to see them pretend that they are concerned.

They've become roaches, similar to republican rat feces.

7. It's a sad fact...
...but most of them think very little of us.

We're a bother...a mere hurdle they must manipulate in order to win their elections.

I suspect that most detest "We The People".

There are some good senators out there. However, you can count them on one hand.

Sorry...I'm pessimistic today, especially after the House Ethics Rules that passed today.

These people have lost their way.

13. hey sparky...
don't confuse losing your way with being mislead.
wanna feel upbeat about the possibility of active change? read any book by Saul Alinsky- Rules for Radicals, Revellie For Radicals.

Chin up and courage. We don't need no stinkin' leaders. we'll create them out of ourselves.

8. Thank the gods that you're powerless.
I'm appalled that so many people are willing to excoriate Senators that have been fighting the good fight for longer than many of us have been alive. Tom Harkin, Ted Kennedy, Pat Leahy, Chris Dodd, to name a few, are people we need. This kind of you're with us or against us is worthy of the shrub. Hope you're proud.

12. We're not powerless, Cali. That would be overstatement, aka
black and white thinking worthy of Shrub.

See how easy it is?

14. but cali...
there comes a time when there is that one issue you can't equivocate on because the implications are so profound. and for me, it comes down to a willingness to go to the mat to defend the constitutional guarantee of enfranchisement.

no enfranchisement, no elections. no elections, no democracy.

for me, it's that painfully simple.

and i appreciate all the triples hit over the years by Kennedy, Leahy, Dodd. But I can tell you this, as a Red SOx fan. If they die on third base when the game is on the line, it don't matter what their batting average is.

9. Stop giving them money, stop volunteering for them ...
stop working to get them elected and stop voting for them! The old argument, "If you don't vote for the Dem, a Repug will get elected" no longer has any credibility. We DID vote for the Dems and it didn't matter because the vote was rigged.

The Senators that are afraid to stand up because they fear they won't get reelected, don't seem to realize that it's only a matter of time before they're targeted by the rigged machines, too. They're not helping their careers; they're weakening the party and silencing the voice of the people they were elected to represent ... and for some reason, they're too stupid to see that it's only a matter of time before they get thrown out of office by Diebold.

The part of my mind that still believes in our democracy thinks that if they're not going to stand up and fight for us and our right to vote, then we need to support people who will. If that means going Green or starting a "New Democratic" party, then that's what we should do.

However ... the part of mind mind that recognizes the fascist state that is now America thinks that by 2008, the electronic machines will be everywhere - and we'll never, ever have a chance at a fair election.

I don't know what the answer is because after the power-play the Repugs pulled with the Ethics Rules, it's become painfully obvious that it's now or never. If no one stands up now, we may never get another chance. Our democracy will be lost ... and things like "party affiliation" and "voting" won't matter anymore. :scared:

The people are being vocal...not so with the senators.

16. What is Reid's position? It's important
I seriously doubt any senator will object without Reid's approval. Reid is just starting as the Minority Leader and an objection by a Democratic senator will fan partisan flames and make his job that much more difficult going forward. If he doesn't want it and it happens anyway, it will put him in a very awkward position. He'll be forced to either lead a partisan fight with the Republicans that he doesn't want or he'll have to face the wrath of constituents that will further weaken the party. Reid will be seriously pissed off under that scenario and will likely retaliate against the offending senator. If he has any brains, he has already told Senate Democrats what he wants and warned them not to do anything different.

If there is an objection, it will likely come from a larger group of senators - at least 6 or 7. If there is only one senator objecting, the MSM will make him look like an idiot.

My bet is that nothing happens. Reid is just starting out and he's not going to sh*t in the punchbowl as his first official act.
