Did you all get the email from Kerry?
Sorry again if this is a dupllicate. I didn't even get it myself (though I should be on his mailing list?), but a friend shared it with me.
--------------------------------------------------------------

No American citizen should wake up the morning after the election and
worry their vote wasn't counted. No citizen should be denied at the
polls if they are eligible to vote. And, as the greatest, wealthiest
nation on earth, our citizens should never be forced to vote on old,
unaccountable and non transparent voting machines from companies
controlled by partisan activists.

Tomorrow, members of Congress will meet to certify the results of the
2004 presidential election. I will not be taking part in a formal
protest of the Ohio Electors.

Despite widespread reports of irregularities, questionable practices
by some election officials and instances of lawful voters being denied
the right to vote, our legal teams on the ground have found no
evidence that would change the outcome of the election.

But, that does not mean we should abandon our commitment to addressing
those problems that happened in Ohio. We must act today to make sure
they never happen again.

I urge you to join me in using this occasion to highlight our
demand that Congress commit itself this year to reforming the
electoral system. A Presidential election is a national federal
election but we have different standards in different states for
casting and counting votes. We need a national federal standard to
solve the problems that occurred in the 2004 election. I will propose
legislation to help achieve this.

Florida 2000 was a wake up call. But the Republicans who control
Congress ignored it. Will they now ignore what happened in 2004?

There are nearly 3,000,000 of you receiving this email. We
accomplished so much together during the campaign. Now let's use our
power to make sure that at least one good thing comes from the voting
rights problems of the 2004 election. If we want to force real action
on election reform, we've got to demand that congressional leaders
hold full hearings. Make sure they hear from you and help hold them
accountable.

Speaker Dennis Hastert: 1-202-225-0600
Leader Bill Frist: 1-202-224-3135

And please report that you've made your call right here:

http://www.johnkerry.com/signup/electoral_reform.php

I want every vote counted because Americans have to know that the
votes they stood in line for, fought for, and strived so hard to cast
in an election, are counted. We must make sure there are no questions
or doubts in future elections. It's critical to our democracy that we
investigate and act to prevent voting irregularities and voter
intimidation across the country. We can't stand still as Congressional
leaders seek to sweep well-founded voter concerns under the rug.

Please join with me in calling Speaker Hastert and Leader Frist and
telling them that you want action on election reform now.

A recent report from Representative John Conyers (D-Michigan) reveals
very troubling questions that have not yet been answered by Ohio
election officials. I commend the Democratic National Committee for
its announcement this week that the DNC will be investing resources
and reaching out to non-partisan academics in a long term study of
Ohio voting irregularities. I am only sorry that we haven't seen the
same from Ohio Secretary of State Blackwell and GOP officials.

Congress must play a positive, proactive role on this issue. That's
why I will soon introduce legislation to reform our election system,
ensuring transparency and accountability in our voting system and that
all Americans have an opportunity to vote and have their vote counted.

Please remember to let us know that you made your call when you're
done. We're hoping to ensure House and Senate leaders' offices hear
our demand for action on election reform in meaningful way. Please
take a moment to let us know you have made your call here:
http://www.johnkerry.com/signup/electoral_reform.php

Thank you,

John Kerry

P.S. Thanks to all those who participated in our USO "phone home"
campaign last week. The totals are coming in from the USO, and they
are thrilled with your generosity and support for our brave men and
women in uniform. We will send you totals as we get them.

7. "2008 will be too late!" That is the message I left for Kerry everywhere
that I could. I also told him that I would never support him again if he did not fight now, That is how I feel.

On the other hand, use your anger to call and ask for Hearings and Investigation into Ohio Voter Intimidation and Election Fraud.

I ain't going through some mass-market "fill in your name" form - I want the Kerry campaign to know I am not happy with this at all.

11. Kerry's email
Received mine this morning. I find this statement very odd: "I will not be taking part in a formal protest of the Ohio Electors."
Does he mean he will not be protesting, or does he mean, "I will not be taking part AS a formal protest"? Big difference.
The email I had sent him this week said, ok, it's time for you to be "Reporting for duty" again. Be a hero, be a champion of the people. Be the guy I thought I was campaigning for. I think if he lets other people fight his fight, he'll not only not get another shot at the presidency, he may not be a senator for long.
No guts, no glory. Just ask Viktor Yushenko.

13. That's exactly what I did
When I dialed Hastert office was closed and I left a message to the effect that I urged him to stand with John Conyers tomorrow and object to the certification of the electoral vote. When I called Frist his voicemail box was full.

26. I don't think he's left us... he's reaching out
I too have somewhat mixed feelings. Can't help but feel disappointed. Yet I understand, and still stand by Kerry as a great man! I'm sure he knows so much more than any of us about all this, and he understands the law, things behind the scenes, and he is in a real difficult position right now. I think he truly believes that in spite of all the evidence and what we all know to be true deep down, it is still hard to nail the absolute proof and it just isn't happening in time for tomorrow. I guess that's what he's saying. I never thought he should be the one to stand up, but I sure hope SOME Senator does. I think he's reaching out... he doesn't want to lose his friends either. And I know he truly cares about this issue and is clearly ready to fight to fix our election process. He wants our support in this effort, and since it's what we've all been fighting for we should extend our hands back to him once again. Isn't that what the "Friends of Kerry" list should be about?

I always thought it would be so great if the people would be able to give Kerry the win, without him having to even get involved. Well, we'll see what tomorrow brings, and I know what Kerry has said is a bit disappointing, even to me...but don't lose the faith, and don't give up the fight. John Kerry will continue to do great things, and we should continue to support this great man. A crime as big as election fraud is just not easy to get to the bottom of, but we've made tremendous progress now. Bush's empire will now start to crumble. The next election I think we will be able to have much more faith in! Things are gonna change!

Still hoping for a miracle tomorrow... you never know. But if not, will continue to fight anyway!

21. Yes, and here's my reply:
Why are we waiting for election reform instead of challenging this election? A senator needs to stand up with Conyers and challenge the election......especially with all of the shenanigans in Ohio. I understand that it is very politically incorrect to stand up and challenge an election...I really do understand, but it wasn't done in 2000 and looked what happened. If not now, when? If not a Democrat, who? The grassroots people are TIRED. We have done hour upon hour of investigating, we've donated money (often money we couldn't afford), we've organized protests, we've written emails and letters and made phone calls. What ARE THE DEMOCRATS IN THE SENATE DOING? I've written letters to the editor of the local paper that could have cost me my job in my conservative little town. Sometimes the right thing to do is the hard thing to do. When will the Democratic Senators and Congressmen stand up and be counted?

Sure, I'll call, but what can I expect from the Democrats tomorrow?

22. I got it. Frankly, what time is better to highlight all the problems
in Ohio than now???

I'm pretty disgusted and depressed right now. Shit, if our "leader" Reid doesn't have a clue either...
Meanwhile in NM, they are itching to clear the machines...our gov. Richardson and Sec. of State dont' want to know about irregularities.
According to the latter, lots of people showed up to vote for county commissioner but couldn't be bothered to vote for President.

31. yeah... disappointing
tho he's just being honest, in spite of his difficult position right now ... with the republican control right now, even with an abundance of evidence it's probably not gonna do the job to remove bush... at least not in time for tomorrow! Without the ABSOLUTE PROOF it seems they will keep finding ways around it and not contest this election even if a senator stands up too (and hopefully at least one will!). But we've still got much work to do and MUST continue to fight for a new election process! Kerry's ready to fight for this too, so we must not get so discouraged that we give in or just accept what we KNOW is election theft either! We can all work together to FIX this thing if we don't get discouraged now.
