No matter what the Democrats do the Republicans will blame them
For decades I've watched the Democrats roll over again and again in an effort to "play nice" with Republicans.

It never works. Republicans backstab us no matter what.

Clinton was fiscally conservative and they called him a spendthrift.
Clinton was cautious in foreign policy and they called him extreme.
Clinton was morally above reproach and they called him (wait, well two out of three ain't bad....)

My point is that no matter what Democrats do, the Republicans will lie about it and take advantage of us and cheat and lie some more.

I hope that Senator Boxer and some other senators stand up for what is right tomorrow. It can't possibly make things any worse for Democrats, and it might actually help.

Sometimes its time to turn the boat toward the enemy and charge.

6. Or call us the "loony left" as
John Feehery, a spokesman for Speaker J. Dennis Hastert, said of the Democrats.

Yeah, this outrageous comment was posted on the NYT website tonight.

Here's the link: http://www.nytimes.com/2005/01/06/politics/06elect.html

13. That's right.
We have very little to lose. Regardless of what we do, the Rethugs are not going to abandon their agenda. If we play nice and polite and just lie down they won't respect us or cut us some slack (Hmmm. It sounds like I'm describing an abusive relationship), they'll just trample us. Then they'll raise a stink and file a challenge the first time one of their candidates loses an important election.

If all of the Democratic Senators stood up, they couldn't be dismissed as a few loonies.

More importantly, we need to get over worrying about what right-wing scumbags think of us.

23. I was a moderate Repub for years
And then the Clenis issue started in clouding the actual FACTS of what Clinton was really doing for our country: attacking the damn terrorists they're crying about now, and they started whining about the budget and we ended up with a surplus and they complained about morals and there were fewer abortions under Clinton than under any prez since RvW. THEN Jr. shows up, shits on McCain -- the last repub I had any respect for, and the 'pugs LICKED IT UP. Heads are still spinning from the speed of my exit. If they couldn't be trusted to see the good the man was doing what was the point of my being there? Now I'm a progressive Dem, with a moderate personal lifestyle. I'm MUCH happier about my life but the state of the country worries me.

They piss on us no matter WHAT happens, and their control of media interests makes thing a thousand times worse. I haven't seen Jr. do much good and I don't expect to see much good coming out of him, especially since I knew about PNAC in '00 and was scared shitless they would win. I don't think the comparisons to Hitler are too far off. I believe more than a few are certifiable. If they can't take a step back and look at things as they are and not as Limbaugh and O'Reilly say they are, then they're more like religious fanatics then political idealists, which is what Nazi Germany was.

I think if some good people had stood up in Germany in '30 or '33 or so, there might have been less tragedy; Awareness campaigns can only go so far against a mass media that screams about one presidents genitals without a peep about another's war dead. I dearly hope we haven't stood up too late.
