Evidence of a Second Bush Coup?

By Robert Parry
November 6, 2004

Theoretically at least, it is conceivable that sophisticated CIA-style computer hacking – known as “cyber-warfare” – could have let George W. Bush’s campaign transform a three-percentage-point defeat, as measured by exit polls, into an official victory of about the same margin.

(snip)

Though there's still no proof of such a cyber-attack, suspicions are growing that the U.S. presidential election results were manipulated to some degree. Voting analyses of some precincts in Florida and Ohio have found surprisingly high percentages for Bush. Others have noted that the large turnout among young voters and the obvious enthusiasm of John Kerry’s voters would have suggested a better showing for the Democrat.

Exit Polls

But the most perplexing fact is that exit polls into the evening of Nov. 2 showed Kerry rolling to a clear victory nationally and carrying most of the battleground states, including Florida and Ohio, whose totals would have ensured Kerry’s victory in the Electoral College.

Robert Perry is on the job!!

2. My question also -- Kerry should be aware of this stuff
He was able to got through military indoctrination and go on to lead an anti war movement.

He was able to follow the leads in the Iran-Contra investigation -- even under tremendous pressure to quit.

WHY did he quit now -- when the fate of the nation and the world is at stake?

3. Interesting Point
Clarke: Nations using internet to spy

The world's most advanced military powers are using the internet to spy on their enemies and prepare digital attacks against targets, a leading cyber security expert has said.

"When there's a major cyber incident it's very difficult to prove most of the time who did it," said Richard Clarke on Friday, former White House adviser on national security and cyber threats.

Clarke said he suspects Russia and China are the most pervasive users of internet for intelligence-gathering on suspected enemy states and plotting ways to use the information for military purposes.

"Maybe the United States too," he said.

If the voting system is vulnerable then why hasn't someone pointed out the possible influence of a foreign power directing the politics?

4. I have been thinking domestic manipulation
So which countries would benefit if bush were elected?

Israel might spring to mind -- but I didn't see much difference between Kerry and bush in regards to Israel -- so would sort of rule them out.

And that has been where the whole focus has been. But just imagine that one is going to spend billions on starwars and leave the back door open to someone else.
Just imagine how some would run to stop everything if Cuba, North Korea, Iran or any one else not in the good book had the chance to interfere and influence things.
It would seem to me that a system of voting that is not audit able would/should send shivers down the spine. Just think about the potential of outside influence.
How could anyone stand up and defend an unsuitable system.
The whole thing that is going on at the moment is about one party vs another and no one seems to be considering the other possibilities. Seems like maybe Clark was firing a shot across the bow.
Just seemed like serendipity to me.

Edit: Starwrs
