we want some input on this overnight. Coming soon all reps and senators that stood and supported will be underneath Boxer, Conyers and Tubbs Jones!

also the site will not have a post comment feature till its a lil more mature and is getting hits.

remember this is beta, just check out the look of the site, the colors and what not and let us know what you think.

By the way this is a completely DU grassroots effort, Chili has been phenomenal in taking this on and buying space and developing the site.

I guess you've never worked with a publisher program before.

These programs have templates, and the text area is filled with this latin text temporarily, then you write your own words in them later.

1 suggestion -- put links on here to each of their addresses, fax numbers, emails etc and a statement encouraging people to write to them expressing their gratitude.

I fear that all of the minority yesterday (Boxer the most) will be the target of relentless smear campaigns and other negative publicity: They need to hear kind words that what they did is appreciated... let the site make it easy for many to show their appreciation...

something like next to each name:

where *snail mail* would be a link that would open an .rtf or .doc file that that has the start of a letter with address filled in and maybe an opening statement *email* would be same but launch browser-based mail and *fax* would be same as *snail mail* but would have fax number...

thanks for your efforts... and thank chili for the shadowbox site.... which I have read EVERY DAY since its inception.

regards to contact information and donations. The last thing we want to do is have these heroes associated with us if it might not be what they want.

We are also unsure as to the legality and the appropriateness of setting up direct to official donation links.

If you know anyone with knowledge on this stuff it could save us a lot of time and potential downers.

For example, when I when out to Rep. Tubbs-Jones site, I couldn't send her an e-mail because I don't live in her district (or state, for that matter). If there's another way to e-mail her, it would be great to have it handy like this.

I love the way you were able to combine red, white and blue with the orange. The stars along the sides look great. It has a clean look, not too busy or confusing. Can't wait to see it with the content.

Edit to add: I don't know what resolution you've used for the photos, but it's taking an awfully long time to load. Can you reduce the size of the photo files by reducing the resolution and/or physical size a bit and bringing down the load time? At work, I probably wouldn't have this problem, but at home I'm on dial-up and it's very slow. Just a suggestion, but I think it would help.

Very happy you all liked the design first time out - that was a first draft, that's why the text is in Latin - that's just a text place holder. You guys agree on what you want it to say, write the text, and I'll replace the Latin with it!

You're right... it is hard to read right now. That's not even the font I wanted, I'm in the middle of setting up a new pc, and transferring all my files... my fonts are still on the old pc, so I have to migrate them over... limited on the choices until I do that (which I expect to do today / tonight). I really wanted an old sorta distorted text - you know, like an 18th C. news sheet type printed in a basement somewhere (you get the idea!) - I have a few of those, and I'll try them out.

Also, you guys decide what you want the links to be, what text you want, etc. I'll just fill in the blanks!

Will be offline for the rest of the day working on the transfers, running errands, etc. Be back tonight.

This is a great idea, and the site looks fantastic.

My only comments are re- color, which perhaps I overreact to. On my screens, which are pretty well color-adjusted (one for "avg" Mac and one for "avg" PC), the overall look comes across as red, white & blue. I think we shd stay w/ red-white-blue as predominant colors but perhaps make the red a bit less orangey and make the RIBBON a bit MORE orangey . . . if that was the intent.

Also, I like the stars in the borders not being pure white, so they're not too distracting, but I think I'd like them a hair whiter than they are.

But color's v. subjective, so pls excuse if you don't agree. Overall, the site looks terrific!
