Therapeutic, Post January 6th Haiku Thread!!
Edited on Sat Jan-08-05 01:57 AM by truthpusher
To help ease the confusion, shock (and pain) of the last few days...I thought I would try to get a "Post January 6th Haiku Thread" going.

What is Haiku: Haiku is one of the most important form of traditional Japanese poetry. Haiku is, today, a 17-syllable verse form consisting of three metrical units of 5, 7, and 5 syllables.

Here is my offering (a bit serious for my taste, but the best I could muster at this point):

Democracy cried
thumbs twiddled, eyes abated
hearts hiding, what now

for fun, here's a link to a random haiku generator: http://www.everypoet.com/haiku/

With keen intellect
He sweeps the electoral votes
All chimps puffed with pride

And another

Faithless by the lakes
Blunder costs one. Who did it?
Woe Minnesota

9. Here's mine
Short Boxer stood tall,
Mere moments we heard the truth,
We shan't let it die.

Denying the truth,
Conspiracy Theory,
Mad Republicans

Angry and fatiqued,
Watching democracy die,
Right there on T.V.

It's not a mandate,
It is more like a dictate,
The crash will be loud.

Oh, no, I'm misunderstood,

You made huge mistakes,
Your memo was true evil,
I'll vote to confirm.

Pay no attention,
to memos having my name,
That was then, not now.

30. Stop me before I Haiku Again!
They cannot fix it,
If they cannot ascertain,
that it is broken.

They have to wonder,
Will the Iraqi votes count,
When we show the way?

Yes, without D.U.,
I'd be sure I don't belong,
In this country now.

Sometimes the bottom,
Must be hit before rising,
Surely we are there.

Hope is on the way,
It's been postponed due to rain,
Or is that just tears?

May I live to see,
The turn and their quick downfall,
May they eat their words.

Haiku story for January 6, 2005

Will there be a voice
For truth, honor, and justice?
One by one they rise.

Servants of Evil
Lying in the face of truth
Their words scrape my heart

Damn their impudence!
And damn, too, my impotence
Tears soften the rage

Seeing more clearly
This was a small victory
The seed has sprouted

Our fledgling movement
It can grow strong, mighty wings
We each have a part.

Onward and Upward!

destroying the world.

He knew all along

Yet, he declared War
for the benefit of friends
his base now richer.

Steals the election

And how about you?

Marley said it best,
Stand up, stand up for your life,
So damn it, stand up.

If you knew what we

69. God I love this place. Basho would be proud of you: justice through haiku.
We'll just take these votes,
Count them in our clubhouse, and
Let you know later.

What are they hiding?
I think we all know, but how
Long can they hide it?

Pink ties, gray suits, and
Snarkiness to spare: Thanks, Keef;
You saw through tin foil.

It's hard work, hard work
Being president to all
No time for the truth.

Freedom for Iraq,
Where is our freedom we say
Who protects our back.

Top down, sun on face
Tension gives way to the wind
Peace comes yet again.
