Sorry if this has been posted already.
Of all the people running for the chair, Dean has the most guts.
Perhaps our last hope to keep democracy alive at home????

6. Does she have to decide to run for it?
Or can we just thrust the title upon her whether she wants it or not?

Edited on Tue Jan-11-05 10:08 PM by bush_is_wacko
I can support. I would really rather have hem in the running for 2008, but he is the ONLY stand up guy/gal I've seen mentioned. I'm glad he announced today. I'll go and vote to make it official.

On Edit: Here are the current results. Overwhelmingly Dean.

Simon Rosenberg
6.5%

Martin Frost
2.0%

Howard Dean
83.3%

Wellington Webb
1.6%

Donnie Fowler Jr.
2.9%

Harold Ickes
2.5%

Jim Blanchard
1.1%

31. On another page you can also give your ideas on how to fix the Dem party!
Edited on Tue Jan-11-05 10:18 PM by Amaryllis
Guess what I told them! It’s the voting machines! And tolerating massive voter suppression and discrimination and violation of state and federal election laws, and then saying there wasn't enough to change the outcome! Fix the elections! It isn’t the party that needs fixing other than their ignorance or refusal to acknowledge another stolen election and the fact that they are math challenged and can't add up how many lost votes it would take to change the outcome!

33. I am so on your page....
It drives me nuts when 'our' guys forget that even as the election stands (without the fraud)we were not POUNCED or TROUNCED or whatever.
Almost 60 million votes for Kerry, the most ever!
When you add the discrepancies of the 'official exit polls' we won!
I don't remember the exact numbers, but something like 54% of women and 49% of men voted dem. How does that NOT prove fraud?
Anyway I hope Dean is elected as the chair, but it's hard to imagine.
But since they asked for our input, I thought they should get it.:)

40. Darnit, I finally got my diatribe under their 500 word limit
and now their databases are down.

I figured election reform and election fraud would be submitted quite a few times so I went with this:

____________________________________________________________

Conservatives have accomplished a remarkable feat in a relatively short amount of time. Their dominance over the political, social and religious realms was achieved vocally and visibly. Democrats can learn valuable lessons from Republican behavior over the last twenty years if they want to salvage the liberal heritage of our founding fathers.

Too many Democrats whisper the word “liberal” when describing themselves. The Bush campaign lobbed a verbal grenade early in the race accusing Kerry of being the most liberal senator. Democrats winced and countered that he was not. “Liberal” isn’t an insult. Democrats must reclaim the descriptor as a compliment. Democrats should gladly share this political perspective with the men who secured our freedoms and created this country. The word liberal should evoke feelings of enlightenment, humanitarianism, innovation, patriotism and plenty.

Democrats are the antithesis to the conservative perspective. Contemporary conservatives do not embody the classical definition as their political decisions affect negative change rather than conserving a status quo. Conservatives have convinced too many Americans they hold exclusive rights to family values, high morals, and strong ethics when their actions prove the opposite. We can have no reluctance in responding with the accusation that “conservative” is a label one should no longer proclaim proudly. Conservatives are the ones who should wince at this word that represents oppression, inflexibility, bitterness and crass materialism.

The tactic of repeating something until it becomes reality is an effective one. An appalling number of Americans want to be told how to think, a concept which is anathema to liberalism. Liberalism encourages individuals to do their own exploration and make decisions based on their reasoning ability. Valuing intellectual freedom places liberals at a disadvantage when appealing to a complacent electorate, but ideas and ideals are contagious. Many people may have latent beliefs that can become realized only if they know others feel as they do. Republicans have successfully exploited the human drive for inclusion through conformity. Democrats must appeal to this human need in order to convince the electorate of their desirability.

Republicans control all branches of our government yet present themselves successfully as the underdog. This approach to public relations is so effective that many people blame Clinton for anything negative and he hasn’t held office in four years. The focus of accountability must be shifted! Appropriate and well-placed accountability can only be accomplished with vigilance and consistent communication. When decisions are reached which disagree with liberal principles, a very public dissenting opinion must be disseminated quickly and widely. Republicans should not be permitted to proceed unchecked simply because they have demonstrated the ability to spin any event to their advantage. Democrats must get better at publicizing the hypocrisy rife within modern conservatism by consistently challenging such behavior.

Minimize internal strife and focus on Republican actions, publicly challenge conservative decisions as affecting negative change, use strong positive language to refer to liberal issues and strong negative language to challenge the reactionary conservative agenda. Don’t shy away from partisan politics or media savvy.

______________________________________________________________

Now if I can just get it submitted.

I first heard about the vote on Al Franken today. Your thread was a pleasant reminder. Thanks!

While there I nominated Paul Wellstone for their hall of fame . . . a no brainer.

Sure do not agree with everyone on their list, but life is like that.
