The BLUE paper clip is working!
For the last 2 days, I've had a blue paper clip attached to my shirt at the neckline.

Everyone I have had contact with has asked why it was there. It was sad how many people have NO FRIGGIN CLUE as to what is going on!

I was able to educate 7 people so far (I don't get out much!) and I plan on keeping this campaign going for as long as necessary.

Keep up the good work, kids!!!

Peace!

Nicki :)

5. I borrowed the idea from...

...a post Will Pitt posted a couple days ago.

<snip>
I wear a big blue paperclip on my coat. As it is winter in Boston, whenever I am outside I am wearing that coat. That paperclip has begun more than two dozen conversations since I put it on.

"Dude, you know you got a paperclip on your coat?"

"Yup."

"Why do you have a paperclip on your coat?"

"It is a symbol of soldarity with those working to figure out why this past election was so screwed up."

"What do you mean?"

"Well, it's like this..."

Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

7. I educate.
I ask them if they had heard about voting irregularities that had gone on not only in Ohio, but throughout the country. I make sure I keep my talk away from "Kerry really won" and focus on voters rights and how so many thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of people got screwed, again.

I reiterate...it was truly sad to find out that all 7 people I talked to yesterday had NO IDEA.

10. Sometimes the simplest solutions are the best ones!
This idea is a winner! There are so many people who did not know there was a contesting of the Ohio electoral votes on the 6th.

Great job with this.

11. Here is the easiest way to explain it...
Edited on Thu Jan-13-05 01:03 PM by Atman
(Will has a couple of my bumper stickers, but I didn't know he was doing the paper clip thing, too. Too cool!) I made up a little card which briefly and succinctly explains the whole paper clip concept without using scary turn-off words like "Nazi" and "fascism," (the reasons are explained in that long thread, and another one linked within it). It is NOT about Nazi Germany. There is a free card download here, too.

17. blue paper clip logos
Today I taped blue paper clip logos over the two "Dell" logos on my laptop, after reading that Dell contributed $250,000 to the inauguration. I didn't want to get rid of the computer (though I won't be buying from Dell again), but I can't continue to be another source of their free advertising. At least now I can flip up the screen and believe in what the logo represents.

18. I have yet to get one person ask me...
Perhaps I look like I should be wearing a blue clip :)

I did however find a package in staples of assorted colors one had been opened. It was the blue section. Coincidence?

19. Blue paper clips?
We've lost the presidency, the Congress, and the Supreme Court and all we can come up with are blue paper clips?!? I'm sure Bush and the Republicans are shaking in their boots.
