2. Last night's was a rehash of a better one from a few months ago...
I transcribed it because it was just too damned perfect. :)

From "The Daily Show", 9/21/04

JS: With more, we're joined by Daily Show Senior Media Analyst, Stephen Colbert. Stephen, thank you so much for joining us. You're the Senior Media Analyst here at uhm (noise) Comedy Central. Stephen, you have to think this is a huge blow for CBS News to have been uh...this misled, do you think that this apology is sufficient?

SC: Well first off John, let's not jump the gun here. Remember, this is CBS News. Given their track record of late, how do we know they aren't getting this whole apology story wrong as well?

JS: (pause) They're the ones apologizing. Are you saying that they're lying about being sorry?

SC: No, I'm saying that they were duped.

JS: Dan Rather went on the air himself and personally apologized.

SC: (smirk) Yeah, he's a credible source.

JS: Well Stephen, what do you think is gonna happen now at CBS News?

SC: Well John, there's gotta be some accountability. Dan Rather is the head - the "Commander-in-Chief," if you will, of his organization. He's someone in the ultimate position of power who made a harmful decision based upon questionable evidence. Then, to make things worse, he stubbornly refused to admit his mistake; choosing instead to stay the course and essentially "occupy" this story for too long. This man has got to go!

JS: Uhm...we're talking about Dan Rather?

SC: Yes, John. Dan Rather. CBS is in chaos, unsafe, riven by internal rivalries - if you ask me, respected, reputable outsiders need to be brought in to help the rebuilding effort.

JS: At...CBS News?

SC: Yeah! At CBS News! What possible other unrelated situation could my words be equally applicable to? Now people need to be held accountable - the Commander-in-Chief, the Vice President, the Secretary of Defense, the National Security Advisor - EVERYONE at CBS News needs to go. I can tell you John - John, I can tell you somewhere Walter Cronkite is rolling over in his grave.

JS: Walter Cronkite is still alive.

SC: Not according to my sources...at CBS News.

4. The right wing
had a veritable army of bloggers and news readers on the Rather story like a swarm of killer bees, the WMD story on the other hand you can hear a pin drop.
