It feels like this may turn
Edited on Fri Jan-14-05 12:15 PM by dogindia
It feels like the republicans can not take being so criminal anymore. Though i eee no outward signs yet. The deep understanding to me feels like it is not about winning unfairly. Perhaps they will bring themselves down.

2. "Perhaps they will bring themselves down. "
Sheer hubris will bring them down...

Their starting to get sloppy with arrogance.

4. you have to realize
as long as they can steal elections, they can do anything they want. They will not implode. They own the media, all branches of government. It is not the case that they'll screw everything up so bad and piss people off and bring about their own demise. If you look at world history, regimes have been able to maintain control for decades and even centuries even though they do horrible things. What keeps them in power is a lack of democracy and fair elections. That is where we are at now.

5. plus you have to ask...
with the media under their control how long can they keep large amounts of people thinking that they live in a free country? From what I've seen a pretty long time.

7. Yes!
Thank you for mentioning buyblue.org. I just made a donation to their cause. (and I almost vomited when I saw how "red" Marriott Corporation is - I stay at their hotels often. At least I've always heard that they treat their gay employees very well.)

9. I've got Marriott and Hilton club accounts. I think I shall be
staying at Hiltons more often now. Thank goodness they acquired some lower priced properties.

15. As I sip my bold blend venti room for cream
The way they conduct themselves, I'd have been surprised if they'd turned out to be Red. They do alot of good from what I hear, from buying fair trade coffee, to paying fair trade prices even when they're the only buyer, to their health plan extension to partners, and their progressive hiring and promotion policies.

But I though some considered Starbucks to be evil. No?

21. We must not support their corporate ownerships and it is
only in this way they will successfully be brought down. When we withhold our money from them. I say instead of making lists of companies not to support we should have a firm list of stores, companies we should support/buy from. Then we can eliminate all the rest. We need to have someone like Soros support a new cable system with real news organizations that report the truth.

12. I don't want to sound like
a wet blanket, but if you mean some of them really have a vestigial conscience that's hurting them, well, truth to tell, I can't gloat; I feel for them, am pleased for them and wish them well. I hope it's not a pipedream.

Purely on a pragmatic level, James Baker and presumably, as someone has suggested, Poppy, seem to be bright enough to see that Iraq is worse than a quagmire. Iraq itself seems almost apocalyptic in its chaotic violence, now, but it has the potential to be apocalyptic for the Republican party, not to speak of the world.

16. I think they will implode for a few reasons
none of which have to do with conscience.

If the cash cow stops, they will jump ship pretty quick.

The Republicans who want to be president in 2008 are already starting to be critical of the president. As for other Republicans, some I think are not neocons and would like the neocons to be gone. Some are not BFEE people and would like to see a non-Bush in the White House for a change. Some are decent fiscally responsible moderate Republicans who just want the bastards out.

So I think there is some hope for some "help" in getting these buggers out of there.

But we need to stop fighting each other and our fellow Dems in office and focus our ire where it belongs.

How long can these people deny a majority, regardless of whether that majority got who they voted for.

19. Yes, criticism is good
But not "let's punish those who didn't stand up on Jan. 6th"
or
"I'm sending Kerry a retirement card"
or
"Who should we purge from the party?"

There's a certain level of childish backbiting that is not constructive.

20. Telltale Heart
A Telltale Heart can only happen when you have a heart.

They have no remorse or ethics. They are not losing sleep over any of this, IMO.

22. No, no
A Telltale Heart happens when you cut out someone else's heart and then your fear of getting caught drives you to insanity and makes you blurt out your own guilt.

And THAT'S what I'm stocking up on my popcorn and jujubees for. :D
