Mr. President,

I was surprised and disappointed that you told the Washington Post last week that no Bush administration official should be held accountable for our failures in Iraq. As the situation worsens and more American lives are lost and troops deployed to the region, it's time to stop rewarding incompetence and to start demanding accountability. For the sake of our men and women in uniform and their families here at home, I urge you to start by replacing Donald Rumsfeld. His record of failure and his inability to play it straight with the American people and our troops overseas make him unfit to serve as Secretary of Defense for one more day, never mind four more years.

If you care about restoring our credibility around the world and our credibility with our troops on the ground in Iraq, you've got to start by removing Donald Rumsfeld as Secretary of Defense. That's why I am joining Senator John Kerry and hundreds of thousands of Americans in adding my name to the johnkerry.com petition calling for Rumsfeld's immediate removal from office.

I urge you to act without delay. We can't afford any more auto-penned letters of condolences and shifting stories about what kind of armor we have to protect our troops.

American soliders and their families are counting on you as Commander in Chief to hold those in charge of the war in Iraq to the highest standards.

First, Bush* will never listen to this. Ever.

Second, this only bolster's Kerry's name which might give him impitice to run again in 08, a thought I can not tolerate since he failed to follow through on his only real promise to us: to make sure election 04 did not become like Florida in 00.

I agree with the petition, but it's only real value is to bolster Kerry, and I have a definite interest in seeing Kerry disappear into the woodwork.

Petty Attacks on John Kerry Do Not Impress Me

I signed the petition and I hope everyone else does too. John Kerry realizes the fraud in this last election or he wouldnt be talking about it. yet he also realizes the Bush Admn. should be held accountable for their actions and the reselcting of Bush does not signify our approval our his Iraq policy. its time to get rumsfeld and get a foreign policy thaT WORKS. Kerry is defending us to the best of his ability, in the Senate, as we saw today, and in life in general.

If you claim you are a democrat and choose not to sign this petition because of your dislike for John kerry, your not a democrat your a hypocrit, and thats the last thing we need right now.

As usual, Kerry kicks ass and takes names.

I can't see why someone who's really on our side could possibly argue that this is a waste of time. I find that peculiar. :shrug:

Sign the petition if you wish. March in the streets. Bash your heads against a wall. Go for broke.

BUT, and let me make this absolutely clear, if Kerry runs in 08 he will lose. That is a foregone conclusion. Why? He is a died in the wool liberal, and not just because Bush* called him that. He really is. I had my entire RW family thinking about things, but there was no way they could stomach Kerry. That will NOT change in four years. And, Kerry does not have the cojones to do what is needed. Will he admit he's a proud liberal in the American tradition? No. Will he pursue voter fraud? No.

I have marched, petitioned, yelled, called, travelled, and done everything I could to promote Kerry, but he failed. He didn't fail to win. He failed do defend his win, as he promised he would.

This is the big leagues, and there is no room for error. I like Kerry. I was a Kerry supporter from the beginning of the primaries. I would love to have him as Pres. But, that day is gone. The voice of the people is OUR voice, and we must speak loudly and wisely.

So, let Boxer do this silly petition that will go nowhere and I will sign it. And let Kerry do whatever remains in his power to do. But, as a unified voice, we must not only defend ourselves but we must let Kerry know that he let us down when he broke his promise about fighting voter fraud.

The time for petitions is behind us. Keep acting like we live in a Democracy. That's exactly what your leaders want you to do.

Let me go one step further...last November I cast a vote in a "silly" election. It was a fantasy, a ruse. It was a foregone conclusion that Bush* would win.

Do you need proof? Well, try this. If you know anyone with a lot of money (I mean a LOT of money), why don't you ask them what they think. I'll put odds that they knew all along Bush* would win because they are well aware of what's going on. They KNOW how much richer they are. They KNOW what tactics are being used. I have several friends in this position. Almost all of them told me they were voting for Kerry, though I don't necessarily believe them. I know this is anecdotal, but it points to the truth nonetheless.

If there is anyone on this board who thinks this petition will actually work, or even has a CHANCE of working, I'd like to hear your reasoning. In point of fact, it has much more power for bolstering the cry of "whining liberals" than for actually changing anything.

Again, I don't oppose the petition. I say it's a waste of time and might possibly work against us.

Checks and balances in democracy..."silly thing", indeed.

The system can be saved, but WORKING FOR THE CHANGE.

First, I never called checks and balances or democracy silly. I called petitions and voting silly in today's america. That's reality. We must learn this lesson if we want change.

Second, I've not given up, or I wouldn't be here writing a little missive to an anonymous person.

Third, there is no 'saving' the 'system'. There is only the future, and what we do with our present darkness to create the change I think we both want.

I'm glad for all of you that feel inspired by signing this petition. But, consider the opinions of those who are on your side, will you? If we all want change, it's going to take more than petitions and sign and protests. It's going to take: MONEY, SUBVERSION, and an honorable LEADER who is as powerful at speaking as MLK was. Kerry had MONEY, but not enough. And, he showed he did not have enough of the skills in SUBVERSION and LEADERSHIP to move us out of this present darkness.

I hope we will all continue to work together for change in realistic ways.

And I've been crying again over how cruel the people who did 'win' are. Any doubts that I had about Kerry were removed after watching him in action as he brilliantly grilled Condi tonight. I don't know what will work - but, I do know that if the Bushbots succeed in keeping us divided, they will have succeeded. I want our democracy to succeed and I trust that Kerry has the best interests of America, the world and our future in his very careful approach. If he hadn't gone to the middle-east when he did, he could not have pulled off what he did today in his questioning. He made me proud.

I don't why, but I have a feeling that the lid is going to blow off something any day now.

You know what I'm talking about, all the work we've been doing, Kerry's silence in the past few months, his trip to the middle east, these petitions we've got from his website, the challenge to the electors, today's interrogations of Rice, trying to break the media blackout, this feeling we're seeing a shadow presidency emerge, etc.

All the "I Believe" threads do have some significance to a certain extent.

Something big is about to happen. I don't know what, but I have a feeling it's something good.

I know this for sure, Kerry has our backs. He did from day one.

My message was (in a nutshell) that Kerry was the true President-elect and that the election results were a sham. (Not necessarily relevant to the petition but could not resist).
