The problem we have is that votes are never counted.
The tabulators were a bigger problem in the last election than the E-voting. What we need is required back-up handcount. They we won't have to call for a recount (which won't be done) because there will be an automatic one.

1. both were problems
how to convince elected officials is one thing
getting them to stand up is another
the solutions are simple
we can use optiscan , computers for election day preliminary results
hand count all ballots for official results

4. Maybe the audits required for elections should be 100%.
In other words, the ballots will be processed by the DREs but then the hand count of the paper will be the final result. In the meantime, for the two weeks it takes to count the ballots BY HAND, the machine winner can take office and be in charge. But the hand count has to be the official and real count. Also, it the machines are found to have mis-counted, the companies should be subject to lawsuits and prosecution. Stealing an election is a major offense if there ever was one.

5. states have 41 days to certify pres election
senators aren't seated until january elections only certified after 100% count

audits must be 100% like all forms of business to verify accuracy of machines

6. Touchscreen fraud widespread in most swing states and many other states
Widespread systematic vote machine fraud, and dirty tricks and suppression of minority registration and voting in at least 20 states in 2004 Election: summary of some of the documentation

But there was also a problem with other types of equipment that needs to be dealt with too.
Many types of problems in this election and all over the country. It just didn't get covered by the Media so the public isn't generally aware of it.
