2. Documentation: widespread vote machine fraud and dirty tricks in 20 states
Widespread systematic vote machine fraud, and dirty tricks and suppression of minority registration and voting in at least 20 states in 2004 Election:
summary of some of the documentation

Although it was thought that voting inTouchscreen machine counties produces no paper trail, this was not the case this year since the widespread problems found in the 2000 election resulted in 60 non-partisan organizations interested in fair elections forming a consortium in 2004 to provide an election incident reporting system(EIRS) for reporting election irregularities. Thousands of such irregularities were reported in several swing states, especially in touchscreen counties, thus providing a paper trail for election irregularities down to the precinct and even machine level in many cases. From this and other investigations, including the Ohio recount effort, vote machine fraud and systematic dirty tricks and suppression to reduce minority votes has been documented in most states investigated. It is also clear that this was a systematic effort, not isolated local events.

7. The first hearing was in Orange Co- which has optical scan system &
neighboring counties also don't have touchscreen. So there weren't any witnesses dealing with touchscreen fraud. I hear the witnesses dealt with the widespread dirty tricks in Orange and Osceola county mostly, and voter suppression issues.

Orange Co. had registration fraud that affected Dems & distribution of letters in minority precincts telling them their polling plance had changed. This was done in many counties in Florida, and in many other states.

Osceola County apparently dealt mostly with suspected absentee ballot fraud, which they think changed the winners in 2 elections.
Witnesses indicated that at the end of the day, Dems apparently had won 2 races there. But since everyone knows Dems can't win in Florida even though they have the most voters, the next day that was corrected to indicate the Repubs also won those 2 races. Seems about 3000 absentee votes came in the last day and over 90% were Repub. And it was said all were requested in the last 3 days possible, while Dems who had requested 2 to 4 weeks sooner never got theirs. Investigation apparently underway and suits likely to be filed.

There was a similar pattern in other Florida counties regarding absentees;
and people may also remember similar goings on(known fraud but votes counted) in 2000.

8. Just because optical scanners were used doesn't mean no fraud.
There are many ways to skew the results with the optical scanners. I would suspect that the oval stickers used in OH were also used in FL and elsewhere, plus the scanners "count" the vote using programs in the machine and there are many ways of skewing the "scanning" process, e.g., by having the camera focused so it will not record Kerry votes if the circle or whatever is used on the vote is not exactly on target, while focusing on a larger area for the Repub candidates, by just programming the thing to default all under- or over-votes or certain wrongly filled out votes to Bush, etc., etc., etc. I'm convinced the scanners gave the Senate election to Coleman in MN in 02. The statistics support that. Besides that, it's the central tabulator that finally gives the figures anyway and the tabulator can skew it any way it wants to. Unless the scanners are AUDITED FOR EVERY ELECTION, it is no safer than the touchscreens.

DEMAND A VOTER-VERIFIED PAPER BALLOT AND AUDITS FOR ALL ELECTIONS.

9. You are right that its easy to manipulate votes in opt scan counties
but at least if it came down to it there is a paper trail. but in Florida which has a lot of optical scan counties, the official recount is to simply run the votes through the machine again; so if the tabulator computor is rigged you don't find anything. It would take extreme situation to result in a hand recount; so fraud is about as easy in opt scan counties as TS. But there was a lot more TS fraud noticed by voters than opt scan.
