ACTION! Letter to pro-Rice Senators on Rice, Gonzales & Election Fraud
PLEASE WRITE to Democratic Senators who voted for Condoleeza Rice for Secretary of State, criticizing that vote, demanding a vote AGAINST Alberto Gonzales for Attorney General, and tying the arrogance and insult of these Bush nominations to Election Fraud: lack of mandate, lack of accountability, obliviousness to public opinion, and low Bush approval ratings (hovering at 50% or lower--unprecedented disapproval) including nearly 60% of Americans who disapprove of the Iraq War.

Here's a sample letter. Edit it to make it your own, and individualize it to specific Senators. (For instance, Senators Biden and Harry Reid (Minority Leader), although they voted for Rice, spoke strongly in defense of the "Heroic 13" who opposed Rice, AND spoke to the truth of what they said about Rice.)

------

SAMPLE LETTER

------

SUBJECT: Rice, Gonzales appt.'s, & relationship to 2004 Election Fraud

Dear Senator (who voted for Condoleeza Rice):

Your vote in favor of Condoleeza Rice last Wednesday puts you way out of the mainstream of American public opinion. The thirteen Senators who voted against this nomination were the only ones representing the majority of Americans, nearly 60% of whom oppose the Iraq war, and nearly 50% or more of whom continue to disapprove of Bush generally.

We were lied to on Iraq. We were manipulated and propagandized. And over 100,000 innocent Iraqis were slaughtered, and over 1,300 U.S. Soldiers were killed, and we now have a disaster in Iraq the likes of which we have not seen since Vietnam, and the architect and spokesperson for all of this was Condoleeza Rice.

Now they present us with Alberto Gonzales, the writer of the torture memos, for head of domestic law enforcement. His views on torture and his toady attitude towards Bush make him unfit for this office. I'm also concerned about enforcement of election law. Given the flagrant misconduct by Republican election officials in Ohio, and given our egregiously non-transparent election system nationwide, we need a civic minded Attorney General--hardly a description of Gonzales.

These Bush’s nominations are an insult to Congress, to the American people, and to democracy itself. Are mass murder and torture and endless lying now to be our “moral values”?

I fear for our country. I am convinced these people committed massive election fraud, not only because the evidence is very strong--indeed, it is overwhelming—but also because I will never believe that a majority of Americans voted for these policies.

How do we get out of this mess—of stolen elections, of illegal wars, of false and hypocritical “values,” and of massive thievery and corporate domination of our country and its foreign policy?

I imagine you’ve given it some thought. Here’s mine: paper ballots, hand counts. We were a pretty good country when we had those. We can be a good country again.

Some think the electronic voting system can be repaired—with open source code, a proper paper trail (a ballot that takes precedence over electronic tallies in any recount), other proper security and auditing procedures, removal of Republican partisans as owners of the secret, proprietary programming code that counts all our votes, and undoctored exit polls to verify the election (unlike our exit polls for 2004, which were doctored on election night—"adjusted" to fit the official result-- hiding the fact that Kerry won the exit polls—a prime indicator of fraud).

I think we've gone too far toward an inherently fraudulent election system, and need to pull way back to something simpler that occurs at human speed and that human eyes can see.

Once again, I am profoundly dismayed by your vote for Condoleeza Rice. Thousands of activists around the country observed the debate and vote, and have noticed that you were on the wrong side. I urge you to join the "Heroic 13" who voted against this nomination, to create a truly progressive opposition to the Bush regime.

The activists at democraticundergound.com stand ready to assist any politician who courageously opposes the Bush regime, and who is willing to investigate the 2004 election and support election reform.

And always remember: We—the good people of the United States, the people who believe in fairness and justice and good government, and who oppose unjustified war--are the majority!

Sincerely,

P.S. Enclosure: Here are some of the expert reports on the 2004 election that you should read, if you are unfamiliar with them.

1. Hey, the Democrats who voted wrong on Condoleeza Rice need to...
...hear from us! And Gonzales is coming up! And neither of these arrogant, insulting nominations would have been possible in an election fraud free U.S.!

-------

Here's a re-write of the above letter that covers all three topics somewhat better, and is more current as to action:

-------

Dear Senator (who voted for Condoleeza Rice):

The thirteen Senators who voted against the nomination of Condoleeza Rice last week were the only ones representing the majority of Americans. Nearly 60% of Americans oppose the Iraq war. Bush's approval rating hovers at 50% or below--an unprecedented "vote of no confidence" by the American people for a second term president.

Last week you voted against the opinion of most Americans by endorsing one of the chief architects of the Iraq war. I trust that you are not going to compound that mistake by voting for the author of the torture memos, Alberto Gonzales, for head of domestic law enforcement.

And I think you need to ask yourself why these arrogant, insulting and egregiously bad nominations are being presented to you, and to us.

Why is it that Bush has so little regard for you and for American public opinion? How is it that mass murder and torture and blatant lying have become qualifications for the highest appointed offices in our land?

In my opinion, the answer is a fraudulent election system that will never elect a good government ever again. And I urge you to face this reality. With Wally O'Dell and H. Ahmanson counting our votes, in secret, behind their "Wizard of Oz" proprietary source code curtain, our country has become a fascist state that operates in the interests of war profiteers, and the rich and powerful.

On Jan. 29, nine Ph.D.'s--experts from leading universities--issued a report that calls the 2004 election results into serious question. They find that Kerry won the exit polls (by a 3% margin). They find the odds against exit poll error--and thus, the odds against the Bush win in the official results--to be 1 in 10 million. They find a large, unexplained skew toward Bush at the precinct level in electronic voting vs. paper ballot (a skew that has been confirmed by several other reports--see the U.C. Berkeley/Florida, and democraticunderground.com/North Carolina reports, below).

This Jan. 29 report also finds the explanation by Edison/Mitofsky (the exit pollster) for why Kerry won the exit polls--that Republicans were shy of the pollsters--to be without foundation. In fact, the data points to the opposite conclusion--that the exit polls actually favored Bush--which makes the unexplained discrepancy between the exit polls and the official results even larger. The report calls for a full investigation of the 2004 election--the latest in a growing list of expert reports that do so. See:

http://uscountvotes.org/ucvAnalysis/US/USCountVotes_Re_Mitofsky-Edison.pdf

This report comes after many other analyses and reports (see below), all of which point to the same thing: Stolen Election II, this time by electronic means.

The best solution? Paper ballots, hand counts. We were a pretty good country when we had those. We can be a good country again.

Some think the electronic voting system can be repaired—with open source code for all electronics, a proper paper trail (a ballot that takes precedence over electronic tallies in any recount), other proper security and auditing procedures, removal of Republican partisans as owners of the secret, proprietary programming code that counts all our votes, and undoctored exit polls to verify the election. (Our exit polls were doctored on election night—"adjusted" to fit the official result-- hiding the fact that Kerry won the exit polls—a prime indicator of fraud).

I think we've gone too far toward an inherently fraudulent election system, and need to pull way back to something simpler that occurs at human speed and that human eyes can see.

But I do support the Ensign Bill, and strongly oppose the Dodd Bill, on election reform. The Ensign Bill will at least give us a paper trail. Much more is needed. The Dodd Bill is a dark joke on the American people: election reform by 2009 by pouring billions more dollars into the hands of the electronic voting industry, which then contributes large chunks of it to Bush campaigns.

Thousands of activists around the country observed the debate and vote on Condoleeza Rice, and have noticed that you were on the wrong side. I urge you to join the "Heroic 13" who voted against Rice, and help create a truly progressive opposition to the Bush regime.

Vote against Gonzales, and filibuster it. Don't let it happen! Fight for real election reform, and at the least, investigate the 2004 election and educate the public, if the Bush thugs in Congress continue their lockdown against verifiable elections.

The activists at democraticundergound.com stand ready to assist any politician who courageously opposes the Bush regime, and who is willing to investigate the 2004 election and support election reform.

And remember: We—the good people of the United States, the people who believe in fairness and justice and good government, and who oppose unjustified war--are the majority!

Sincerely,
