20. Evening, Ms. Sharon!
:hi:

Social Security is such a difficult thing to screw around with. I'm not expecting it to be there for me, because I'm at the end of the Baby Boomers (you guys get all the best stuff!), but the majority of 55+ (who were the majority of the voters) are not gonna like the idea of it -- even if it's not supposed to change their benefits.

39. I'm in that group (barely)
and I really think it's a lousy idea. It will just make matters worse. Even though I'll be okay, I worry about my daughter and others in her a future generations.

215. Hi Pats!
Lindsy Graham (R-fool) admitted privatization would not cure SS's solvency 'Problem'. Since Graham is a staunch Republican fool he'll probably be hauled back into line. I'm on SSDI and if Bush succeeds in screwing up SS in the next 16 months people like me will be royally screwed.

Hey, Hangem'! Nice to see so many faces here
Likely to be a slow night, since we had such a party when Keith wore our tie on Monday (over 500 posts!) and then last night we kept thinking about the blivet** jabbering about his wonderfulness.

But the KOEB brew is still good!

192. Like I said in The Tie thread - it was a moment of sweet solidarity
when he thanked us the only way he could for our support.

Partially along these lines, did you hear the new official KOEB toast (who needs a mission statement) that I proposed:

"TO THE TIES THAT BIND"
:toast:

236. Yeah, Miami, maybe it IS a mission statement as well as a toast
The ties that truly bind us together are at the heart of our fight for this country now. Without them, what can we accomplish? And what would drive us?

And it's a fun toast as well, keeping THE TIE in mind.

Dean group members on black list for Bush event in North Dakota.

http://www.blogforamerica.com/archives/005919.html
It starts with a list...
President Bush will be speaking at the Bison Sports Arena in North Dakota today to stump for his Social Security reforms; however, 42 Fargo-area residents won't be attending—even if they wanted to. Fargo City Commissioner Linda Coates and 41 others have been blacklisted from the event (view the list) seemingly because of their ties to a Democracy for America Meetup group.

"I thought that was democracy," said.
Coates said she was shocked and "creeped out" Wednesday to learn she was on the list. Now she's outraged.

"To me, this is very revealing as to what this administration is all about someone who doesn't want disagreement," said Coates, whose husband, Mike, is also on the list. "That's not healthy."

It was revealed that at least 33 out of the 42 blacklisted citizens are members of the Fargo-Moorhead Democracy for America Meetup Group and listed publicly on the Meetup website. Commissioner Coates plans to attend the event anyway and will demand a reason if she is not admitted.

Don't let this blacklisting slip under the radar—let the media in ND know that DFA supporters are not content with being relegated to a blacklist for exercising their right to free speech. How long before your name ends up on a "do not admit" list?"

...consider interviewing Bill Moyers about a piece of his that has just come out. See the link to this article and more on this idea of Moyers and other possible "serious" interviews by KO downthread in my Reply #159 and subsequent discussion.

Your story idea sounds just right for him, though. Such a good illustration of the exclusivism and anti-democracy of the blivet**'s Goon Government. Talking to the people that this happened to, seeing their faces, might make it more real to some of the people who are denying that there is such a problem in this country.

All he could do is try to make the best of it and not roll his eyes too often.

Poor Keef!

The source of Tweety's popularity remains a mystery to me. GOP Payola? Bad Hair groupies? It's beyond understanding.

121. MSNBC beat CNN last night in the primetime lineup and killed
in the key demo of 25-54, from 8-11pm, MSNBC led in ratings. Methinks it was because they didn't exile KO to 6pm this time and let him do the lead-in show to the SOTU address! More ratings details at tvnewser.com

145. That's GREAT news - journalism still counts for something
with the viewers after all. And it sure wasn't Tweety. The more viewer support KO has, the more independence he may be able to show. His style and content are clearly finding an audience different from the Kool-Aid vendors' one.

241. Wait. There are other shows on MSNBC? What? Do tell.

I refuse to watch 'Countdown'. I used to, though, but I couldn't take it any more. The man is bipolar, I swear. He says one thing one night, so I then tune in the next night and he goes the other way, spouting nonsense. I get whiplash trying to keep up with him. I call him 'Tweety', now, too, but not for the physical similarity with the cartoon. I call him that because he's like a tweety bird in a room with mirrored walls - always flying from one wall straight into the other wall, over and over and over and.... All the while telling his guests exactly what their reply will be to his question. He's the only one really allowed to speak.

I can't stand it.

And don't even ask me about Scarborough. Bleah. Tucker Carlson with a better tie.

I love 'Countdown'. I loathe 'Hardwhatever' and 'Slimeborough Country'. All the other so-called shows on MSNBC.

Thanks for setting me straight, merh! I'm going to give my fingers a good talking-to, now! ;)

342. Yeah, that sounds like my kind of luck, all right.
Sorry, Keef! I meant 'Hardball'. **sigh**

I honestly started watching 'Countdown' because Keith's consistent. His sense of humor, along with an excellent reporting style, hooked me. I stopped watching 'Hardball' because Matthews is anything but consistent...... Wait. Okay, I really started watching 'Countdown' because I was too lazy to get up and change the channel after 'Hardball' one day. I confess. Then the contrast between the two shows became rather obvious and I started tuning in to 'Hardball' later and later and...Until, finally, I tuned it out completely. One of the smartest things I've ever done. I may not have kept my sanity over the years, but at least I can still visit it.

All the time!

I don't have a clue why Junior and Pickles do the Hook 'Em sign. He was rejected by the UT Law School before he went to Harvard and she went to SMU. I know that Jenna was rumored to have graduated from UT, though. :eyes: Still, Barb went to Yale. Why pick on UT? Junior's father's library is at A&M. The Aggies must be just thrilled when he gives the Hook 'Em sign. He should be doing this:

Junior's such a putz.

Take your pick: Iran, Syria, North Korea, Libya, Cuba, etc. He 'linked' North Korea and Libya in that story the other day about "evidence" showing N. Korea supplied Libya with processed uranium. A two-fer. This "evidence" gives him the option of punishing either one.

That felt good. I haven't laughed enough recently, so it cleared out some cobwebs.

Oh my, that's funny!
:)

OK...edited to admit: I have on occasion read some of the (I swear!) best-written ones (and they do exist). In these sad, scary times, reading something that you know will have a satisfying ending is like having a fabulous hot fudge sundae when you really, really crave one. It can lift one's spirits, as long as one is willing to suspend disbelief for a span of time and doesn't overindulge. Only the best writing can achieve this - with the usual dreck there is no way to become happily lost in the story.

326. Why Sparky! You may have just invented a whole new genre!
Believe me when I tell you -- you DON'T want to have to read them yourself -- that there is a romance novel genre for darn near every possible psychological twist, healthy, unhealthy, and VERY unhealthy. I once made something of an amateur psychosocial study of this, finding the kinds of unreality craved by the buyers of some of these awful books most revealing. (Excuse the choice of verbs - I know it's a pun but my brain is shutting down.) I'd be surprised if there aren't some psych PhD's based on romance novel plots.

In all my romance researches, I NEVER came across a hero who went bounding around with a sinus mask, let alone a wet heat one, though there have been a few with aesthetically described asthma. Wow, a new genre - probably worth lots of money! Many of the real mass-media formula romance novels with the screaming-pink and red covers are actually written by men with pen names like "Blaze O'Passion" (yes, I made that up but it's typical). It's quite a racket, all driven by the unmet psychological cravings of millions of women. Fascinating, really. And there are just a few rare romance-style novels that are also good reading -- they are definitely not the norm.

My computer has now crashed or frozen more than half a dozen times and my brain seems to be doing about the same thing. The fact that I am rambling about this ridiculous subject is proof positive of that! Time to shut us down on purpose for the night.

Be well and have good dreams.

If she is a progressive, pro-choice candidate, she can apply to Emily's List and they will help her organize her campaign, raise funds and even run her campaign. That is what they are there to do. hang on to that check and tell them in no uncertain terms that they will not get your money unless they support the candidates you want to support your values...i have been getting daily calls from emilys list and every large envelope and the whole shabang for months now..and i let know everytime they call that they will not get another dime from me until they now" prove" that they stand for the very values they say they stand for....and i have with held this years money to date until "they get it"..i will no longer rubber stamp anyone or any organization that does not stand for the principles of what i believe in and that is democracy,,i will no longer support * lite, or those catering to the middle..everytime we go to the middle, the repugs go further to the right..i will not support that and i will speak with my checkbook..i will not compromise my beliefs. i will not compromise when it comes to lies to war, i will not compromise 47 of my coworkers who died on 9/11 and died for the lies of the administration of the right, i will not compromise with my own senators and congress people lying to me, i will not compromise my bill of rights or constitution
and if the people who are suppose to stand for my principles fail to do so..i will work to see them removed and put people in their place that will also not compromise. my family members have fought and put their lives on the line for the very values i hold dear..i will not compromise that. not for any one person..be they repug or democrat..if we elect someone and they do not stand for what they were elected for and by the people who put the blood, sweat and tears behind getting them into office , for the very principles that we believe in, then it is time to remove them and replace them with people who have the guts and cojones to stand for those values !
the time for excuses is over...it is time for all of us to stand for our constitution , and our principles , and never ever compromise them, because if we do..we are not worthy of those who fought for our contitution in the past, or in the present.

254. Good for you, fly!
And thanks for filling us in. A group here in town is starting a PAC similar to Emily's List but for local candidates specifically. I hadn't paid much attention to their effort yet but now I wonder if that sort of thinking on Emily's list part has also factored in, hmmmm... Is there a list or something where you can find out who they supported in the last election? I am curious to see if they supported our new Sheriff Lupe.

264. call them...
ask them..ask for references..ask who they put their money behind..ask how much they put behind which candidates, call those candidates, ask them...its your money..and its your time..time is much more valuable than a check, knocking on doors is hard work..doing the grunt work is hard work..and there is no thanks for it..other than knowing you did your part to stand for your values. interview them like you would someone who worked for you!! because your money is hard earned, and your time is priceless..

make them earn your money and your time, and if they do not share your values..than hasta la vista baby! move on to tjhose organizations that will respect and stand for what you believe in..there are many groups for women, i belong to many, one i particularly like is "revolutionary women" here is there web site..adunphy@revolutionarywomen.com

i know here in fla the sec womens convention is in may..each area is looking for young women to take them to the convention..each area is recuruiting 10 young women for free ..to go to the convention, we need young women to get involved..if you are in fla ..call your sec chair ..state executive committewoman..call tallahassee dem party and get the name of your sec chair and ask to be involved ..ask to go to the convention..and get your voices heard.
the only way you can demand change is to be involved.
go to your local dec meetings and become a member. have a voting say in what goes on in your area. you can not change it if you are not going to be involved..
i was never so proud and happy as when i was at the convention and i saw so many young women involved in the caucus's, i never thought of doing that when i was younger..and yet so many of these young women today had a voice..ahhh it was my proudest moment sharing with these young women, and hearing what they had to say, and knowing their concerns and worries , and dreams. keep the dream alive ladies...

182. Maybe she was told they would close military bases in the
state if she didn't support the weed's torturer. Louisiana's economy is not the greatest, I think the bases they have in the state are used to train a lot of the reservists before they go to Iraq. Base closings are very scary for the economy of a lot of states.

It doesn't matter, she is a damned coward! Stand up to the bastards, somebody, everybody has to! :argh:

There's a ranked BRAC (base realignment and closure?) list that my husband just saw this week, I know ours (TACOM) is on the list, but supposedly below the cut line. I think they are supposed to formally announce them in May, but that's just rumor here.

Glass Box

You know, it's the old glass box at the—
At the gas station,
Where you're using those little things
Trying to pick up the prize,
And you can't find it.
It's—

And it's all these arms are going down in there,
And so you keep dropping it
And picking it up again and moving it,
But—

Some of you are probably too young to remember those—
Those glass boxes,
But—

But they used to have them
At all the gas stations
When I was a kid.

He owns a dachshund. I've owned two. I know the breed well. That dog can't possibly be happy living with a Republican! Just like *'s dogs--someone needs to call a rescue league and save that poor dachshund!

A reporter was asking a question and quoting that statement today.

I had to jump up and grab my head on it's way back down because it just went *PING* right off my shoulders when I heard that.

Between the Lieberman kiss of betrayal last night and this vote today and this story... I don't recognize where I live anymore!

123. Hi ladies! I'm here!
Shockingly late, I know. Went to a fundraiser to retire the campaign debt of our FANTABULOUS SHERIFF.

Oh yea, if we can elect a BLINDINGLY QUALIFIED Democratic openly gay female Hispanic Sheriff in DALLAS COUNTY -- anything can happen. I (heart) Lupe, infinitely!!!!!!

Caught part of the show on MSNBC XM audio feed on the way home. Was, like, every single one of the Oddball bits straight out of the Lounge? most excellent.

And the intro to the Iraq story with the quotes from Vietnam-era NYTimes -- THAT was brilliant. I was forced to sit in my car in my own damn driveway to hear the rest of it.

Oh, and wassup the table thingy? that's different, eh? I guess I like it.

:loveya: for Keef, who has a very nice tie on tonight, even if its not ours. Is that suit new?

supposedly in the top 10 of national radio hosts? WTF? anyway...
it was about talk radio in politics, it was them two, and a great journalism program head from a u in md.
franken was on, he got gallager to say great thing about having Franken and AAR to have some balance and it's all good....
and then all pulls out an interview quote where the same mr gallagher says since the election -- he's irrelevant,as are we, and he doesn't deserve to be on radio.
al's graeat when he pulls paper out of his pockets!
too much conversation on the issue of liberal bias. in the media.
i recognised this actress from my favorite show ever as a kid, she got up to ask the last question and i knew her voice! i remember her characters name pretty damned close and sang her part of the theme song. she was lovely! marylin sobel or sokel.

I think Al's mission is to work on rebalancing the media.

Al is making some really smart business decisions. He seemed like a really nice guy. he signed my Lying liars book:

To Amy:
Love,
Al Franken

It was panel with a Conservative, a Liberal and a professor of media studies at U of MD. The moderator was a writer for talkers magazine.
The audience and Al made mince meat of the conservative. He was turning red! But he kept his cool. It was a good experience overall.

I think the conclusion is conservative talk radio wouldn't be so bad if there was an equal amount of hours of liberals on talk radio.

And someone made a really good comment at the end about bringing ethics back into journalism and bringing ethics in to talk radio.

159. I wish KO could have Bill Moyers on as a guest
If they dared, it could be a groundbreaking interview on the state of delusion in this country, also about how many powerful people WANT major war with Islam in the Middle East as part of the biblical prophecies. Very, very scary stuff people desperately need to hear about.

I recommend reading the Bill Moyers piece here:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=104&topic_id=3053395

Be very afraid. I do wish KO would consider this interview.

That rotation of talking heads they make him talk to is getting old. At least Little Howie Fineman hasn't been on in awhile. I would love to see KO talk with Bill Moyers or Arundhati Roy or lots of other deeply intelligent people that he could have a great discussion with.

I do recommend that new Bill Moyers piece. He is a social historian, as well as other things, and he has a very scary and believable story to tell.

I don't think most people realize how many people are supporting militant Israeli policies and MidEast war with Islamic countries BECAUSE they believe we are moving through the predicted events (as they interpret the text themselves, of course) in the biblical Book of Revelations. Might put a different light on things if they actually heard these things instead of the unending feel-good propaganda. They need to be frightened FOR THE RIGHT REASONS and then DO something about the situation - like dumping the blivet**'s policies and then his administration.

237. Yes, she would be a great interview.
He usually does an interview to accompany a current news story though and since they won't even let Sibel Edmunds give her testimony...... she never gets on MSM, even with Keef. He should really start just going after all the stories that won't be reported elsewhere on the teevee, after all he started that precedent when he was the only one to report the election fraud story at all.

Just for the entertainment value alone. ;) And to hear him say, "Keef." Besides, there's still lots going on with Katherine Blackwell these days. He's being sued by an Austin, Texas voting machine company claiming he unfairly changed the rules while determining which firm would get Ohio's business. Katherine changing the rules mid-stream?! Are we to think that Blackwell was trying to deliberately choose one company over others? Now, who'd believe that malarkey? :eyes:

Katherine's also fighting the Ohio war against Arnebeck and watching helplessly as Cliff mounts his defense with volumes of documentation about voter irregularities/fraud in Ohio. The truth is coming out. In pieces, but it's there.

Bring back Blackwell!

248. You are right Hope. KO could have a great discussion with Moyers about
the religious 'wrong'. Keith's blog this week addressing Dobson was revealing of his frustration with the hypocrisy of these religious zealots. He really let them have it and it came out of a very personal conviction. Great read. He and Moyers could definitely have a substantive discussion about it, not sure it would be right for such a short Countdown segment though. You'd want it to be an in depth interview.

He could expand in his blog, or maybe -just maybe - with the ratings so good for MSNBC coverage for the SOTU - they might let him do something like a 15 or even 10 minute piece.

They could cover what the REAL motives for invading Iraq and now wanting to invade other Middle East nations might be, since they were certainly NOT for the stated reasons.

It's the Doomsday gang and those who are making a fortune on them, and the rest of us and our children will be paying the price for a long time to come.

If only they would let him cut out the puff pieces just one time and actually do a real interview that reveals things that need to be heard.
----
edited to add: Perhaps they might do a trial of one interview show (with a 10 to 15 min interview segment) per week, see how the ratings were affected compared to the standard shows. Then work from there. I think it would be a good step for him and an important step for hearing what won't be allowed on the dittohead networks.

263. I'm a woman on a newfound mission...
Edited on Thu Feb-03-05 10:43 PM by AmyJCNJ
While I like Keith, I think there is a huge problem with NBC in general and it became really evident to me last night watching the coverage of the SOTU...

Tweety really pissed me off. I got to starting to write a long letter about the fact that no one in the media is offering an alternative to Faux News. Even MSNBC is, mostly Scaryborough and Tweety, are cloning the FNC model and it has become dangerous to our democracy.

I saw an anti-Keith website last week and read through what some of the freepers were saying about him, and I got really pissed about it because I don't think of Keith as being very "liberal" at all. In fact I think he is the only commentator on MSNBC who come closest to actual journalism. I think he's fair.

I think MSNBC is trying. They have had Janeine Garafalo and Sam Seder on a couple of times and Tweety had Amy Goodman on a few days ago, but I don't think the network is doing enough.

Last night I got so pissed, honestly I was crying. I thought I was watching Faux News, because it was all right wingers commenting.

After the SOTU tweety had three guest panelists on to comment on the speech. It was nothing but right wing spin, spin, spin with no other point of view. I started to calm down a little when Ron Reagan Jr. came on, but jackass tweety only let him talk for like 2 minutes and then jumped on him for making a negative statement about the blivet** using the troops for political gain. I couldn't take it anymore and had to change the channel anyway so I could watch Jon Stewart.

I purposefully subjected myself to the garbage, because I was trying to see what the rest of America sees. Admittedly I live in a liberal city and grew up in the NE, so I'm completely confused as to why we've taken this hard right turn. I'm trying to put myself in blivet** voters shoes, so I can get inside their heads. I want to figure out how we can change minds. I think the media is the key to future success.

I just have such a cynical attitude about the media these days.

What I'm, trying to say is GE owns NBC. GE = war profiteer. Ergo, NBC has no incentive to become more balanced or more liberal. But if they get a lot of complaints from consumers then maybe they'll see the light and see that there is an audience for news junkies who hate Faux News.

wanting to believe ratings is all.
so his answer was for the left to just, get ratings, and you'll get more networks putting your programming on, it's that easy.

284. I think the "ratings" tactic might be starting to work in radio,
what with AAR making good inroads -- and at least they are AVAILABLE. We just got our first AAR affiliate in Texas -- Corpus Christi. And it's really easy to make the case to a radio guy -- hello, there are 10 RW talk radio stations in town, Dallas elected a shitload of Democrats in the last election, bring us AAR and you'll corner the market -- we keep dropping the bug in their ear and maybe that'll work.

But TV -- I don't see HOW we can get started in TV, there's no one source and the owners are so monolithic.

285. I agree; I think he was failing to see the big picture
namely:

6 large corporations control like 95% of information the rest of America gets. My mom doesn't have a computer. I spend 30 minutes a day reading the papers on-line and printing interesting stories that I know she's not getting from big media.

The New York Times is ok they've gotten better since they got complaints about the coverage of the run up to the war; However when you read the same story from 5 or more news sources you start to see how distorted most of the media is.

Thank god I can read one additional foreign language, because I have the option of comparing how (Germany) the Europeans view us and the world. I wished I had studied harder in French and Spanish class.

Edited on Thu Feb-03-05 11:05 PM by Nothing Without Hope
on how to get past the lies and propaganda and let the public into the truth is way overdue.

I do think the internet will prove key in the struggle to overcome the lie machine. I also think the corporate media and the corrupt administration will be doing what they can to stifle free information exchange on the internet. It's evolving toward being a threat to their dominance and they are coming to realize it.

This is all new, as the situation is new. There has been fascism before of course, but never a situation where there was both fascism AND the internet.

288. KO DOES have a burden on him, and I imagine he feels it daily
I don't know what he did before the election, but after it when he was the ONLY one even mentioning the possibility of problems with the election, at first he could not admit that the other network reporters were holding back except to solidify their stories. I think the unfolding of events and the magnitude of the fraud/suppression and the continued silence of the other media on this and on all the other blivet**-opposing issues finally convinced him that he was in a sense standing alone.

It's both an amazing opportunity for an investigative journalist and a truly frightening responsibility. I am guessing he resents having to add some of those silly puff pieces, presumably audience pleasers ordained by management. Reading his blogs, I saw ever-clearer evidence of his true outrage at what was happening in this country, the lies that go unanswered.

It's a HUGE burden on him and his brief little show. I admire him for trying to do what he can despite what must be piles of hate mail and scary threats. He's a nice enough-looking fellow, especially with our tie, but this is really the reason for these:

It's so obvious to me that people like us are the ones who watch Keith. Wouldn't you agree that none of us really give a crap about Michael Jackson? And the pope coverage was waaaay overboard yesterday. 5 minutes would have been enough time on that story.

I think he's not crazy about the format "Countdown".

305. Pope coverage is OK - nobody else really laid it out like he did
and it is an important upcoming transition that will affect millions of people. There was, for a time, a feeling "in the air" that the pope was dying, and a lot of people were asking what would happen.

Michael Jackson? Can you see Keith WANTING to cover that? Or some of the puff pieces? And I'm betting he wants more time and resources for some of the stories that are important.

I'm hoping that with the good ratings, he will gradually be allowed to reshape the show's format. I wonder what the demographics are, really. People like us would like him to be free to do more real news; I wonder what proportion of his show's viewers that represents.

Someone in yesterday's thread mentioned that KO's show has been renewed for another year. That's a bottom-line vote of confidence that he can deliver the viewer share. I hope we get the chance to see what would happen if he were given more freedom.

I see on here, you guys thought it was great (but, we would); however, some other blogs I read were also commenting on it's fabulous-ness!

I can't wait until the repeat at midnight. Sorry I missed it the first time around!

i enjoyed franken tonight. he made mince meat out of thet gallagher dude. he was red faced, two faced, and ass faced. f'ing idiot.
al was very good. i like him because he never loses his cool, he keeps a good sense of humour as well as an amazzing command of the facts. he apologized when he couldn't cite a publication, can you imagine a Faux doing that?
he sources one quote of o'lieley's as coming from o'liely's ass... he said, i quoted the BOL statitistic, and he cited, his ass!
:bounce: for mr franken, who officially :loveya: AmyJCNJ !

According to Media Matters giving it a worse ratio than even Fox News. How can Keith stand being the token liberal at MSNBC? Is he trying to hold out until George Soros can offer him a job?

299. maybe that's why Keith...
... was somber at the end tonight (according to the thread). Maybe he's seeing what we're all seeing and is pissed too. I don't think he wants to be labeled a "liberal" talking head. I think he genuinely wants to do journalism and what the rest of the network is doing is not journalism it is all opinion. It is a burden. Because someone has to fill in the gap and it has to be him. Everyone else is blurring the line between journalism and commentary.

Don't you think its sad that we have to turn to a comedian to find our point of view on the airwaves?

I don't know what to think about the high-chairs-at-bar-table concept. It's different, I suppose -- it gives them some new camera angles, which is good I guess. They always do such fun camera stuff on this show.

335. If NBC wants ratings they should make Keith the anchor, watch CBC
"Sticks and Stones" the first ten minutes in which they talk about the so called "liberal bias" of Walter Cronkite and then Dan Rather who made CBS News reign supreme in America. You will see that what Richarm Melon-Scaiffe hated about them was really New Deal, "Grapes of Wrath" Dorothea Lange-Walker Evans WPA humanism---they knew how to put a human face on the news, how to look for stories of human tragedy and then show people striving to improve the human condition. It is quite possible that the TV News as we grew up watching it was a product of the Great Depression and the New DEal and the artistic style it produced. By stripping the news of its humanism, GE, Viacom, AOL-Time-Warner, Disney and Murdoch have removed the art and soul of it and made it so boring that people no longer want to watch it. They can bring in marketing people to try to fix it, but there is an art to journalism. Keith has it. That is why so many woman get together every night to drool over his tie. If NBC had an ounce of sense they would make him anchor and let him pick his stories---however this would earn them the Wrath of Karl Rove, so they wont.

Too bad. He is gonna be the next Walter Cronkite for someone. I guess it will have to be for George Soros.

End of Rant.

This one hangs out here, loves everybody, posts lots of floaty hearts, constantly professes their love for Keith Olbermann, and gets together to watch the show live every night. And that's pretty much it. We have no agenda other than this and we're quite easy to recognize because of the :loveya:, the humor, and the heavy drinking. :hi:
