Well, as a collective group we outdo her in the estrogen department. Keef knows he's got a harem of cute, liberal women whenever he wants us and he wore our tie so maybe he's sending out some hints.

She sounded like she thought it was pretty funny. I was sitting here at work, working away and minding my own business with our new progressive station on in the background, when all of a sudden I heard SM say "Democratic Underground." The my ears perked up and I heard her talking about the KOEB, or Keith Olbermann Estrogen Brigade. I just about flipped and quickly started this thread. She read some sample posts. Before I knew it, it was over.

We're famous, ladies (and Sparky and Botany, etc.)! But we better be careful not to say anything to offend her -- either she has a spy, she lurks or she's one of us.

Tonight should be fun. I wonder if anyone else heard it.

But she talked about how we all get together at night and talk about KO. She then read a few sample posts.

wouldn't bet that a man as smart as KO is would go for a lot of gushing. Most of the smart guys I've known have a pretty low threshold for that sort of thing. I don't think of the tie gift as being an example of gushiness... it's certainly not equivalent to announcing on the air that KO is our future husband -- or at least that's not what I thought the gift was about!

That's a good start. Here are some more random thoughts:

I figure we can give Botany the benefit of our expert knowledge of how to charm & intrigue women worth charming & intriguing. This would be available on an as-needed basis. We will doubtless have opinions for every possible situation and can give him all the advice he can stand...er..all he wants.

For special occasions when he may be seen by Stephanie, like at restraining order hearings, we can assist him in coordinating his apparel (software, so to speak) to optimize his look (hardware).

On some occasions when KOEB thread posting slows down to under 200 posts per hour, we can ask him to make us margaritas and give us foot massages and then express our enthusiastic approval of both. (That should make any woman jealous and would have the added benefit that we would get margaritas and foot massages.)

Much as he may be reluctant to do this, we might encourage Botany to deliberately miss some KOEB meetings so as to impart an air of elusive mystery in his doings. He has actually done this on his own on numerous occasions, as in the last couple of days. (Thus giving us the chance to have fun talking behind his back!)

We can at times consider occasionally emailing or calling in to Stephanie's show to discuss politics (she can probably use some more friendly calls) and watch for an appropriate moment --if any such exist--to mention Botany's general wonderfulness and/or elusive mystery. Indeed, maybe she will bring the subject up herself. Or not.

Surely it serves Botany's objectives here to be seen at comfortable ease with us KOEB EDVs, who are a formidible lot to be sure.

Since Stephanie does appear to read our threads from time to time, we can try not to scream too much at her about her brazenness in proclaiming KO as her "future husband." (The gall!!) Then she'll be more likely to hang around long enough for Botany to have time to shine while she's watching.

What do you think? Maybe if Stephanie is reading this she can use her mysterious unknown DU username and make her own suggestions!

I move that we form a stalking research committee to find out what Stephanie's interests are. We can pass the info along through secure channels to Botany, who can then talk about those topics casually.

Phoning in to the show is a great idea. We could subtly steer the conversation in ways that can help us.

Example: Hi, Stephanie, I'm calling with a two part question. First, I wonder what your thoughts are concerning the two-tiered inheritence options plan for Social Security, and second, I would like to know if you enjoy Italian food.

Yes, I'm sure Stephanie would never suspect a thing if one of us called in and pitched a devilishly clever multipart question like the one you suggest.

And of course, this whole dialog is taking place on such a secure channel!

Oh, and I forgot a "software" point for the restraining order hearing outfit for Botany -- see my comment on suspenders to Sparky in an adjacent post. How could I have forgotten the scarlet (subtlety again) suspenders?

No, not a blah cement-block-grey suit. If it doesn't look good on our Keef, it's unlikely to do much for Botany either.

Seeing you here reminds me of another important point of apparel: he should wear some SUSPENDERS to the restraining order hearing. They could peek coyly from beneath his suit jacket, and then, after the hearing in the warm sunshine (this wouldn't work well in the winter), he can take off the jacket and roll up his shirtsleeves and there those suspenders would be. Deep scarlet ones, I think. I doubt Stephanie is any more immune to the mysterious seductive power of a good pair of suspenders than other red-blooded women are. It wouldn't really be playing fair to play the suspenders card, but what the hey.

By the way, taking Skinner's suggestion to go to Preferences and turn off the sig line and avatars/images really does speed up the long threads significantly. Not enough for 650-post monsters, but enough to help more normal ones.

I'm not certain what a wingman is (*blushes at her ignorance*), but it sounds like a good thing to be and to have. And if I were to have lots of clients like Botany, I'd NEED a good lawyer to contribute to the lovelorn advice!
