230. You would know about this Seito. What is the style of martial arts that
involves using swords or sticks? Is it Kendo? I would like to start my son in a discipline, and he is very interested in swords. I studied gojuru (sp.) karate for a couple of years. I've forgotten almost everything. I loved doing kata, and hated sparring so I quit. If I could have just done kata I would have still been doing it. It is so beautiful. My best friend teaches Chi Gong (I don't know how to spell it).

244. It depends on what he is most interested in
Kenjutsu is the art of Japanese swordsmanship. It is difficult to find traditional Kenjutsu schools. Kendo is the sport form of Kenjutsu. It is practiced more widely. Iaito is another Japanese sword art which focuses more on the art of drawing the sword.

As far as stick fighting, the Philippine and Okinawan arts such as Kali and Escrima would be good.

Here is some information on Kenjutsu http://www.reddragonjujitsu.com/kenjitsu.htm

When I studied Kenpo, I enjoyed doing Kata. I don't really do them much anymore. They did a lot for developing the little bit of grace that I currently possess.

257. Thank you so much. There is another style with long sticks that I've seen.
Is it Aikido (sorry about my terrible spelling on all these terms).Yes, Kata is so graceful. I loved it.

I will check out the site you mentioned. My son likes sticks and swords equally. I thought about fencing for him too, since he is quite the actor as well and there is a fencing school in my town.

277. A lot of martial arts teach the staff
It is a 5-6 foot stick. Aikido is a derivative of Ju-Jitsu. They incorporate the sword into their training. Many martial arts offer weapons training as part of the art, but it usually comes after the student has trained for a year or two. Some martial arts, such as kenjutsu and kendo are specifically sword arts. You start out with a wooden or bamboo sword.

I teach teenagers and adults. One of my classes is called Adult Mixed Media Drawing and Collage, I just think that sounds hysterical, the Adult added on sounds like it's X-rated or something (actually when I book a nude model, sometimes it is).

275. My avatar is a close-up of one of my paintings. And yes, sometimes I
slip in a sigpic with my work in it too, if the image fits the conversation. There are lots of anthropomorphic figures in my work (lots of bunnies too, they are my symbols for vulnerability among other things). Yes I am having a solo show next month at Fairleigh Dickinson University. It should be fun. I love the chance to show lots of work together, and I love talking to people at the openings. Working in the studio gets kind of lonely sometimes so it's always great to exhibit and get the chance to talk to people about the work.

This is my fifth or sixth one-person show, most of them have been in College galleries and public spaces, one in a commercial gallery to date. I'm having a show at my Nashville gallery in June. That's really going to be fun. Never had one in a NYC gallery yet, but have been in a number of group shows in NY and I've curated two shows in the city. I'll keep trying to get representation there, have gallery representation in a couple of other places around the globe.

Thank you, I'm glad you think my avatar rocks. I actually didn't make it myself, someone in the Graphics group on DU helped me make it. I don't know how to make my own avatar otherwise I would have put a new one up for a change. How do you make them if you are not going to use the ones provided by DU?

284. If you ever have one
in Hartford or Boston, or above NY city, I'd love to see it. Wow, I've always loved seeing the different ones you've posted. To me, the shapes and colors emote warmth, and safety, so it surprised me that it's a symbol for vulnerability. Of course I have no artistic talent so it's not surprising. : )

For avatars, in your preferences where it asks if you want DU smilies or your own, just click the upload button with the url of the pic you want and type in the box on the right what they tell you. The pic should be 48x48. I just did mine the other day, after many attempts. Most all the ladies here are pros at it.

Thanks for the info. You really are good!

287. I might be curating a show up in Newtonville at New Art Center. I've sent
them proposals for shows a couple of years in a row and they've not chosen the shows but encouraged me to reapply with the same theme or a different one. My co-curator and I might propose one by this years deadline and if it gets accepted I'll pm you with the where and when (that is if they haven't shut down the internets by then).

I've tried to do that upload of the avatar image from the url but I can't get it to be the right size and it doesn't show up. I know I must be a numbskull about this, I'm a whiz in photoshop so this is embarrasing. How do I get the pic to be 48 x 48 (is that pixels btw)

Here's another of my strange creatures. Enjoy.

Oh my, that must be awesome in real life! There's no real words, just a feeling! Thank You!!

I'm not familiar with photoshop, I use photosuite 7, a much cheaper version. There should be a place to resize, usually under the transform, or crop tab. Yes, it's pixels.

If you have a problem resizing, PM me the pics you'd like and I'd do them for you this weekend and send them back.

Thanks again for sharing.:loveya:

meant to make the viewers have emotional reactions so yours is very gratifying. Thank you.

If I have time I'll pm you the pics this weekend. I would love to succeed at posting a home made avatar and figure it out though. I did try when I first joined DU back in November, haven't tryed to do it since. I kept messing up. I like a challenge though so I might give it another whirl.

There is something vulnerable about them, yet I don't feel that they're threatened... it's as if they're vulnerable, yet they know someone's going to take care of them. Okay, that made no sense at all, so I'm going to shut up now. Anyway, I enjoy your work too, so please keep putting it out there!

7. NEW BLOG! Gannon/Guckert
Edited on Thu Feb-17-05 07:59 PM by Patsy Stone
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6210240

"It was a bad enough that somebody let in a guy with no media experience, an alias, and a background as an on-line escort — but why did they let him in if he wasn't even pretending to represent a news organization of any kind? We saw videotape tape of Guckert/Gannon, peeking out from behind reporters, at the White House briefing on February 28th, 2003 — so long ago, that Ari Fleischer was still President Bush's press secretary. It was so unlikely that — as first reported today on the website Salon — Guckert, under his pseudonym Gannon, "boasted on-line" at a chat room called “Winds Of Change” about asking Fleischer a question at that briefing (the return address that pops up when you scroll over his comment is www.gopusa.com)."

The exchange ran as follows, playlist included (and I'm still looking for back-up singers!):

WhirlyGirl
250. Hey, gang -- we're rounding on 250 posts... and the midnight re-air is still 2 hours and 45 minutes off! This is gonna be another monster meeting!!!

KO, let these floaties float me to Central Park so I can serenade you under your window!
<sigh> :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya:
- - -

Miami Liberal
259. Oooh a serenade! But what will you sing? Ya think KO likes the love songs? I think he's too snarky to have a romantic side, but maybe I'm wrong.
- - -

Sydnie
264. "Why don't we do it in the road"? I think that would about sum it up! LOL
- - -

Miami Liberal
267. LOL Okay that one might work.

I was thinking of something more innocent such as "Take me out to the ball game" since he's such a sport nut but I like your suggestion better.
- - -

WhirlyGirl
277. Ah, I've noticed a very tender side to our guy, Mi-Lib. :-)

I'm going to wear a red rose behind my ear and perfume so delicious that one tiny molecule
wafting into his window will make his olfactory nerve do a little olfactory dance
all around his apartment!!! :bounce:<--KO's o-nerve

282. You go girl! Thank him for wearing our tie while you're there. :P

WhirlyGirl
297. Strumming my guitar ever so softly...
I'll begin with a ravishing rendition of Stevie Wonder's "OLBER-joyed." :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya:

The middle song, I haven't quite settled on -- perhaps the old standard "Somewhere, OLBER the Rainbow."

And of course, in honor of KO's favorite music, my final selection will have to be the Chuck Berry tune that the Beatles resurrected so successfully: "Roll OLBER, Beethoven" -- creating a joyful party atmosphere!

By the time my concert concludes, the rockin' in the park will have caused all those wretched "gates" to fall down and KO will fall asleep peacefully, knowing his beloved park is back to normal.

How's THAT for a scenerio? :-)

298. WG, your post really made me LOL!

Very nice medley. I hope you don't use one of those tacky karaoke machines. You must go all out and hire a small orchestra to accompany your vocals and guitar.

:nopity:

WhirlyGirl
312. Central Park Serenade, continued...

You are right, MiLib -- prerecorded accompaniment would NEVER be good enough for OUR Keith! :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya:

To be truthful, I'd envisioned only yours truly delivering the Central Park Serenade due to the considerable amount of floaties needed to convey just me from Ohio to NY. I was a mere slip of a girl years ago when I moved in with my husband-to-be, but I've become quite a little lap-ful in the interim. (I was about to postulate something about living with a man making you fat -- but maybe we better not go there...).

How in the world the KOEB would be able generate enough floaty-hearts to float a WHOLE ORCHESTRA to NY, I confess I do not know.

Rather than a band, you know what would REALLY be good?-- BACKUP SINGERS!! Can'tcha just imagine close harmony charming KO right out of his Size 14s!!!

Any experienced hallway singers wanna volunteer? :-)

I see you were having something of an insecurity complex in last night's thread. You shouldn't worry about getting fired. Although it's true that we'll be forced to discuss some sort of disciplinary action at your next performance review if you miss too many nights tending bar, we'd never terminate you; it just wouldn't be the KOEB without you.

And here, these are for whoever you are tonight, and not for Keef:
:loveya: :loveya: :loveya:

Those second-hand floaties are kind of grimy; you deserve some clean ones now and then. :D

All that matters is that gagman was in-dah-room, day after day, and as I've told oh so many folk these past few days, whatever photoID the dude was wearing, you know that the guys and gals with the big guns at the gates and the entrances to the WH knew he was 'kool'!!

Think I'm joking -- hang any ol'photoID around your neck and just try to get onto the White House grounds, let alone into the building.

... and then a minute later said he thinks the press corps "resent it when the briefing gets hijacked... but... the solution is worse than the problem," and they can sort of work around these ringers, I don't think KO was ready to hear that.

(Was KO thinking the same thing *I* was when the guy said anyone can get a day pass? Like maybe he'd like to take a run at it some time? :-) )

226. I know, but I worry that the Pillsbury Roveboy has this in the news for a
reason, another three card monte scam. Look over here, so you don't look over there. I just get paranoid. The 52 warnings to the FAA about Al Qaeda should have been on the front page a little longer. I want them to chase down the Gannon story don't get me wrong, just get nervous that a bigger, scandal will slip by unnoticed. But wait, that's happened already several times, so maybe it really is best to have this story snowball into the straw that broke the blivet's back.

So many scandals, so little time.

307. Answer to "How did [Gannon] get there?" --
-- is the answer I usually offer when an abjectly unqualified person is given a choice spot: "He's probably bl*wing somebody."

If this turns out literally to be true, the reasoning which enabled Kenneth Fudd to leverage the Paula Jones civil case to a criminal investigation also obtains here since it would have given Gannon a leg up -- oh, I *am* sorry for that choice of words! -- on other would-be WH reporters.

This would make it paramount to go into the sexual histories of all those involved in approving reporters, in addition to those the reporters questioned; those supervising those questioned; friends of those supervising those questioned; etc., etc.

That was a great column by Ms Dowd.

Imagine her outrage at discovering that she was cut out of the WH press corps to make room for this dork.

Hullo gk! Yeah, Sparky's rita & foot rub are sure going to be welcome
I can't remember another story with more PUN POTENTIAL than the JimmyJeff GannonGuckert saga. There are double, triple and probably some quadruple "entendres." In my current weakened condition, with that yummy margarita on board, I really can't resist pointing out that this story is REALLY OVER THE "TOP"! (**Ducks flying Guinness glasses and a couple of ripped bodices**)

Actually, I suspect "Gannon" of being an agent working for the administration. It would explain a lot of the odder aspects of the situation and it would also fit the fine espionage tradition of using homosexual prostitutes to entrap powerful closeted gay or bisexual men in order to blackmail them into compliancy with policy objectives and silence. This was discussed in some of the posts in this thread
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=307x49#73

There are also a lot of disturbing parallels with the 1989 gay prostitution ring scandal, which is mentioned with a link to a scan of a contemporary news article in that thread. Creepy stuff, and that investigation was derailed by the administration -- Figurehead Reagan and Poppy Bush, with his CIA experience. I think they are running the same rackets now.

Now I'm going to try to think of something else, or I'm going to have horrible dreams in spite of Sparky's wonderful rita and footrub.

279. Hi Hope.
Very discouraging that the WAPO woman KO interviewed tonight seems to think John 'it's not my deathsquad' Negroponte might get confirmed without much of a protest. So we have to just bend over for liars, torturers, and death squad murderers as nominees now. When will this madness end? It seems the Blivet gets perverse pleasure from nominating one miscreant after another, almost like he's giving us the evil rasberry, 'yeah and this one's a murderer, what are you going to do about it?' It makes me so furious!!!!!!!

290. Yes, I agree. The blivet** gets a buzz from his "in your face" games
It's a form of dominance mind game for him, I think.

You say: It seems the Blivet gets perverse pleasure from nominating one miscreant after another, almost like he's giving us the evil rasberry, 'yeah and this one's a murderer, what are you going to do about it?' Yes, that's exactly right. And he's also renominated the worst judges that the Democrats had successfully blocked.

NEROponte is a new low, and in this administration that is really saying something.

If JimmyJeff GannonGuckert ISN'T an agent (which I think he is), then I'm betting he's a lover of the blivet** and the little turd thinks it's funny to put him ahead of all the real journalists in the press conferences. He really is capable of this kind of "joke," I think. But I do believe that "Gannon," with his very odd longtime security access and roles in Plamegate and Rathergate, is a professional agent with one goal being to gather useful blackmail evidence to help keep selected key closeted gay men in positions of power or with the ability to expose corruption compliant and silent.

You know, my very first record was of Gene Autry singing "Here comes Peter Cottontail, Hoppin' Down the Bunny Trail." The fact that I am thinking of that now after so many years probably relates both to your username and that Sparky margarita!

Good night!

292. Very interesting theory about Gannon/Guckert.
I tend to agree, all is not as it seems. They would not have been so stupid as to let him in with that easily found out history unless they had him there for other reasons, perhaps the ones you suggest.

Too creepy for words.

At least it was among the first two or three.

Right up there with "Teddybears' Picnic" and "how Much is That Doggie in the Window?" :-)

327. Amazing! Actually, I think "Doggy in the Window" was the reverse side
of my Gene Autry record with "Here Comes Peter Cottontail." That feels right, and I recall the doggy one being sung in a voice like his. I didn't hear Teddy Bear Picnic until I was in graduate school, surely a deprivation that explains all my imperfections!

333. Because we don't see or hear one another in internet-based discussions
ageism, like sexism and racism, don't stand as an initial barrier to mutual understanding. It's one of the great strengths of internet-based activism, I feel, and is often overlooked as the factor that it is. We talk basically mind-to-mind and many of the unconscious prejudices that would otherwise undermine the sense of commonality and community are bypassed. For this reason, I do NOT look forward to later developments when web camera and microphones become standard and expected. That will bring back baggage we are far, far better off without.

As for dating ourselves, I find I don't mind all that much. Besides the deeper well of experience to draw upon for insights, age doesn't really doesn't have to matter much in internet forums. Friendship and common purpose aren't prevented by difference in age and other visible marks as they often are when people meet face to face. In real life there is a powerful instinct to sort ourselves into groups that we "fit," whether we realize it or not. That instinct is the enemy of understanding and trust.

I'm not CERTAIN it was Autry with the "Doggie" but it feels right as the reverse of the "Bunny Trail." A nice memory to share. I recall Pattie Page too, and I'm pretty sure I have heard her singing the Doggie song.

334. I don't think I'll go for the camera and mike even if it does come
into vogue, but then I'm still holding out against cellphones, believe it or not. I'm not a Luddite; I just don't feel a powerful need to have one simply because everyone else does and I'd rather spend the money on books.

Truer words were never spoken about the ageism thing. Back in the late '80s, I "met" a guy at Cornell via a BITNET mailing list and we became fast friends, even though I was 27 and he had just turned 17. There's no way he would have ever crossed my path in RL, yet we had a lot in common and have remained friends over the years.

And yes, I believe I grew up with the Autry recording of "Bunny Trail" but I don't remember what was on the flip side. :-)

335. I think the mind-to-mind bypassing of social barriers is a very important
part of the reason why internet-based activism can be so amazingly powerful. United we stand, divided we fall, right?

I won't be going for the webcam/microphone either. I like my privacy and despise the automatic sorting/ranking that divides people who can see each other when they meet. Your friendship is a good example of what can happen when these artificial barriers between souls and minds are bypassed. On these DU boards you have the complementary strengths of all the different age groups and other societal sets working synergistically. This hugely enhances the more talked-about advantages of internet communitcation like its speed, reach, and mass of resources. There might be a 65-year-old gay white college professor in Brooklyn in a deep discussion with a black 17-year-old female student in Fresno and a heterosexual 40-year-old computer engineer in Chicago -- or Sao Paulo. They can value one another's perceptions and ideas without being distracted by the differences and distances that would otherwise prevent any kind of communication at all.

This ability to "hyper-communicate" is so amazingly powerful, I think it can change the course of human societal evolution if it is allowed to proceed without suppression by the fascists in power or worldwide calamity.

And I don't think you're a Luddite -- after all, here you are on the internet! It sounds like you don't embrace new technology automatically but only when you perceive a NEED for it that is not satisfactorilly filled by what you already have. What's wrong with that? I have an ancient cell phone that I got for emergencies while away from home; I hardly ever use it and most of the time don't carry it with me. I won't go for the webcam/microphone either, as I consider them an invasion of my privacy as well as a destroyer of the wonderful "hypercommunication" I described above; it would be a giant step backwards. But I do think the time will come when NOT to use them will be seen as a message in its own right--"What are they hiding?" -- unless something is done to change preconceived notions by then.

336. I'm sure some will see it as "what are they hiding"?
but I'll see it as "my words speak for me, not my appearance or voice". I have blonde hair, which used to be quite a bit lighter when I was young, and my speaking voice leans more toward the soprano than the contralto side, so you can imagine the first impression most people got at work, especially when I was young -- and how I enjoyed the looks on their faces when I chopped them off at the knees, not by being coarse (I save that for here ) or cruel but simply by making a timely and appropriate remark they hadn't expected.

338. Yeah, I can imagine. But they HATE it and will hurt you if they can
I was in science -- first in academics then in biotech -- and very, very good at it. So good, many men got advancements based on taking credit for my ideas and my work. It was a theme. As long as I let them do this without making a scene, I was left alone. Not advancing, always asked to do MORE for them, but left alone. I finally got totally fed up and made some waves, going to Human Resources and complaining when no one else gave a damn. Well, to make a long story short, HR was in cahoots with the bosses and they framed me with lies and backstabbing treachery. Just after I finished a major paper on a project I was successfully completing -- one that I had worked on 60 hours a week, busted my head and heart over, and had saved a major product line of the company --I was laid off. One of the boss's pets (male, of course), who had no idea of what the project really was, gave the big presentation on its success to the appreciative senior management 10 days later.

I saw similar things happen to other women. The competent ones were resented and tolerated only if they allowed their male colleagues and bosses to claim their ideas and work as their own. Any woman who stood up for herself was slandered, shunned, and if she persisted, thrown out of the company. I am not petite and blond and my voice isn't soprano, but I am female and therefore can never be allowed into the club.

This made me stop enjoying working in science. To this day I'm not sure what I am going to do with the rest of my life.

sometimes I think "boys have cooties" is merely the base case of the induction proof for "men are scum". I've met some decent ones, but they're pretty thin on the ground and usually not willing to speak up when they seen somebody getting screwed.

340. I think this is one of the effects of having the genders so unequal
It's a downwards spiral. When women are excluded from leadership and their insights are ignored, this is what happens. And of course, the men-clubs in power want to perpetuate their supremacy and feel threatened by the talented women. Since they themselves are so greedy and insecure, they assume that women must be motivated by the same things and go on the attack when a woman dares to speak up.

Same thing has happened on a national level. It's endemic and is one more appalling symptom of a society hugely out of balance. EVERYONE loses, even the few powerful men who have grabbed everything for themselves. No way they're happy or secure.

especially since I have a nephew at Parris Island right now. I have to say this scared the hell out of me when Keith started talking about it.

My nephew has been in a strength building class since he first arrived back before Christmas. I wasn't real thrilled that he joined, but that's another story.

He might be let go because of a broken arm he suffered as a kid. The recruiter told him not to say anything. Apparently he should have told them.

God! After this I hope he gets sent home now. I'm shaking right now because of this story. I'm sick to my stomach.

238. I obviously grew up in a less inhibited household
my dad always claimed that no matter what subject we began the evening meal with, sooner or later the conversation would be about shit, and usually he was right (and he would draw that fact to our attention with some amusement). Then again, dinner conversation tended to range over wide collection of subjects at a fast pace, so much so that one of my sister's boyfriends described a family meal as "watching a six-sided ping pong match". And he was one of the boyfriends who could actually follow the conversation and occasionally contribute. (The boyfriends who couldn't at least follow the conversation usually didn't last very long.)

147. MSNBC is really trying to link their internet site to their
network--which they should be doing since the MS stands for Microsoft--the other partner in the venture. In the early days of MSNBC they did a whole lot more "synergy" between the internet and the network but there's just so much more potential to mine this now then in the early days when the network launched (in '96 or '97--something like that).

208. He's lovely!
Whenever I’m out a wandering,
Chasing a rainbow dream,
I often stop and think about,
A place I’ve never seen,
Where friendly folks can gather,
And raise the rafters high,
With songs and tales of yester year,
Until they say goodbye

Well…..there’s a puppy in the parlor,
And skillet on the stove,
And a smelly old blanket,
With a Navajo wove,
There’s a chicken on the table,
But you got to say grace,
There’s always something cooking at,
Old Joe’s Place

Now folks come by round evening time,
Soon as the sun goes down,
Some drop in from right next door,
And some from out of town...(Pick it)

Well…..there’s a puppy in the parlor,
And skillet on the stove,
And a smelly old blanket,
With a Navajo wove,
There’s popcorn in the pooper,
And a porker in the pot
There’s pie in the pantry,
And the coffee’s always hot,
There’s chicken on the table,
But you got to say grace,
There’s always something cooking at,
Old Joe’s Place.

Now they don’t allow no frown inside,
Leave them by the door.
There’s apple brandy by the keg,
And sawdust on the floor.
So if you’ve got a hankering’,
I’ll tell you where to go,
Just look for the busted neon sign
That flashes....Ea A Oh’s

Well…..there’s a puppy in the parlor,
And skillet on the stove,
And a smelly old blanket,
With a Navajo wove,
There’s popcorn in the pooper,
And a porker in the pot
There’s pie in the pantry,
And the coffee’s always hot
There’s sausage in the morning,
And a party every night,
There’s a nurse on duty,
If you don’t feel right,
There’s a chicken on the table,
But you got to say grace,
There’s always something cooking down at Old Joe’s Place…

Sign o' the times:

In The United States District Court
Southwestern District, Tempe, Arizona

The Honorable Homer Simpson, Presiding

Wile E. Coyote, )
Plaintiff )
v. ) Case No. B19293
Acme Company, )
Defendant )
------------------

Opening statement of Mr. Ralf Rinkle, attorney for Mr. Coyote:

My client, Mr. Wile E. Coyote, a resident of Arizona and contiguous
states, does hereby bring suit for damages against the Acme Company,
manufacturer and retail distributor of assorted merchandise,
incorporated in Delaware and doing business in every state, district,
and territory. Mr. Coyote seeks compensation for personal injuries,
loss of business income, and mental suffering caused as a direct result
of the actions and/or gross negligence of said company, under Title 15
of the United States Code, Chapter 47, section 2072, subsection (a),
relating to product liability.

Mr. Coyote states that on eighty-five separate occasions he has
purchased of the Acme Company (hereinafter, "Defendant"), through that
company`s mail-order department, certain products which did cause him
bodily injury due to defects in manufacture or improper cautionary
labeling. Sales slips made out to Mr. Coyote as proof of purchase are
at present in the possession of the Court, marked Exhibit A. Such
injuries sustained by Mr. Coyote have temporarily restricted his ability
to make a living in his profession of predator. Mr. Coyote is self-
employed and thus not eligible for Workmen`s Compensation.

Mr. Coyote states that on December 13th he received of Defendant via
parcel post one Acme Rocket Sled. The intention of Mr. Coyote was to
use the Rocket sled to aid him in pursuit of his prey. Upon receipt of
the Rocket Sled Mr. Coyote removed it from its wooden shipping crate and
sighting his prey in the distance, activated the ignition. As Mr.
Coyote gripped thehandlebars, the Rocket Sled accelerated with such
sudden and precipitate force as to stretch Mr. Coyote`s forelimbs to a
length of fifty feet. Subsequently, the rest of Mr. Coyote`s body shot
forward with a violent jolt, causing severe strain to his back and neck
and placing him unexpectedly astride the Rocket Sled. Disappearing over
the horizon at such speed as to leave a
diminishing jet trail along its path, the Rocket Sled soon brought Mr.
Coyote abreast of his prey. At that moment the animal he was pursuing
veered sharply to the right. Mr. Coyote vigorously attempted to follow
this maneuver but was unable to, due to poorly designed steering on the
Rocket Sled and a faulty or nonexistent braking system. Shortly
thereafter, the unchecked progress of the Rocket Sled brought it and
Mr. Coyote into collision with the side of a mesa.

So he either lives on Fifth Avenue, very toney East side overlooking the park, or Central Park West on the other side. He could be on Central Park South as well, but I kind of picture him in the San Remo or some great Upper West side building.

I used to live in the Oliver Cromwell on w. 72nd St. and CPW, across the street from the Dakota and John and Yoko, that was when you could still afford an apartment there on a bartender's salary. I saw John in the deli on the corner once. I was already living downtown when he was killed.

210. I know one thing for sure--he likes modern high-rises
He used to live at 301 W 57th which is a super-expensive, modern 40+ story building. I read this in an article from the days when he was at MSNBC the first time around (before he left to go to Fox Sports). Then in an article from 2001, it said that he was subletting a place on West 67th, near Lincoln Center. Yet another article from that same time period mentioned he lived on the 42nd--43rd-44th floor (somewhere in the 40's). And no, I swear, I am NOT stalking him. I just have a really good memory for what I read.

I'm in Joisey now. I miss NYC but don't have the bucks to live there anymore. Unfortunately, it's lost a lot of it's individual quirky artsy fartsyness because of that, people just starting out, artists and musicians and actors and dancers who haven't 'made it yet' can't afford to live there anymore. The character of the place has changed quite a bit, too many rich people, not enough edge. The Upper West Side is like a big mall in......New Jersey now.

sigh!

Don't be scared Keef, we are all sane, professional women with tremendous dignity, not at all like Glen Close in Fatal Attraction.

But......we will not be ignored. (turns light on and off repeatedly).

252. This was another case where my research skills and my shopping
skills collided. I get to go to NYC a few times a year on business. I love to shop and there is no better place for that than NYC. And what I know of NYC geography, I know from my shopping expeditions!

So when I read little "clues" about where KO lived, I was able to hone in on a few areas in particular. My bet is on CPS. Although I have not completly ruled out a couple of the high-rise buildings near Lincoln Center that have killer views of Central Park. He's mentioned on-air that he lives near Columbus Circle and that his building is near the TimeWarner Center, by the way.

But KO will be thrilled to know that I'm far more likely to stalk a sample sale than I am him the next time I'm in NYC! I'd just stammer and make an idiot of myself in the off chance that I did run into him. So no. And besides, my time there is usually pretty limited so my focus is usually completly on shopping.

I've yet to see a single museum while there or even set foot in Central Park. But boy, I can give you an exhaustive list of where to shop in NYC!

My son told me were GOING to live there in our lifetime. LOL!

P.S. I should mention that my son wants to be an architect when he grows up. He got the notion after 9/11 and said he wanted to design buildings that would know how to move out of the way of planes.

209. I don't think there was a thread
I was in my car sitting outside of the drugstore when I heard him call in. I stayed and listened to his call. He was so excited, as he usually is when he calls. At the end of the call he said "floaty hearts" and she said "floaty hearts back". I knew it was him when he first called because she calls him by a pet name.

I have mentioned that name in posts to him before, but sort of promised I wouldn't point it out directly to the KOEB.

He gave us the clue about the name one day, then called in about 15 minutes later. So I caught him that day too.

Somehow I think sex will bring * down. It sells.

321. I meant it was inevitable that you'd love Keith - being of sound mind. :-)
It's merely the reasonable response to everything he is, does, and says -- including last night's show opening.

It borders on miraculous, given the business he's in. On another thread yesterday I quipped -- ironically -- that the only time KO may have cheated was when he went thru the line *twice* when they were handing out courage and journalistic integrity.

How long can he continue to get away with this, beholden as he is to a huge corporation for his paycheck?

You think perhaps KO and his merry band of pinko subversives have been sneaking into the studio, and we're the only ones who know he's there? :-)
