Please E-mail C-span and ask that Chris Hitchins be a guest.
He used to be on c-span alot and even though he was for the Iraq War- he now sees the light on the stolen election in Ohio.

2. OK but the man is so damn long winded and IMO "touched" wrong
about so many issues, including the Iraq War. However, if he concludes the election was stolen, he could prove somewhat useful IF, and only IF he's willing to debate it as passionately as he did the rational for the Iraqi Invasion.

I'm not so sure that we may truly want ole' Chris H. on our team. What say others?

I read his article on the stolen election. Sorry, Christopher, too little, too late.

6. He's such a pompous boor
I used to enjoy reading his articles, but watching or listening to him blather on with that air of besotted superiority simply makes me nauseous.

8. I understand the negative sentiment, but....
I think the good outweighs the bad here. A known journalist saying there was election fraud in Ohio is worth something.

12. Forget the Media
Fill out an election fraud complaint form.
Word this in your own words.

Your right to vote was denied.
Your vote was not counted.
When your ballot was converted to digitized data.
It traveled at the speed of light.
No human can follow it.
No human can SEE it.
No human can audit it.
No human can count it.

All printed copies are irrelevent, they are not what got counted.

Paper Ballots
Hand Count
Ban electronics, digitized data, and insecure networks

15. Anyone remember him during the Clinton impeacment....

I do... He was a rabid dog, made more damaging by his claim to be on the "left". Let him join with Pat Buchanan, another unpredictable opportunist... Let them chat with each other about the three things they occasionally agree with the "left" about.

16. I respect anyone with a dizzying range and command --
-- of ideas and language like Hitchens.

Is he too conservative for me on some issues? Yep. But he's a big, big mind from whom I can learn much.

Whereas Ann Coulter seeks disputation as ends-AND-means, Hitchens, even if liberals disagree with him, backs up his positions with erudition. He's a genuine intellectual. She's a reactionary shrew.

I continue to read him in any journal with the good sense to print him.

19. Wow...

A "big, big mind"? A "genuine intellectual"? A "dizzying range and command of ideas and language"?

And here I thought he was just the very ordinary variety of garden snake...

"Backs up his positions with erudition"? That I buy. Erudition is sometimes a substitute for facts and logic.... like Creamora. William F. Buckley played that game for decades.

You can like him if you want to but your choice is at least debatable...

...and here, the discussion is not about simply reading him - it is about promoting his views.

21. I don't have to agree with a writer to respect him/her.
Hitchens is intelligent and my praise for his work is deserved.

He is often slandered on these pages owing to his drinking. I have no personal experience watching him drink so I read his words and I am impressed with how he uses them.

17. He's still on C-SPAN a lot -- was on right before the Iraqi elections...
... and has also appeared in a number of political and literary group presentations -- such as the recent children's poetry reading on C-SPAN2 ("Book-TV").

The network has some guidelines for how often guests are on; however, after checking w/ the station's rep. just now, it appears that there are no hard and fast rules regarding guest frequency -- so Hitchens could be a guest again, given sufficient viewer interest and his schedule permitting.

23. If anyone has a real interest in how a good writer --
-- uses language at the top of its expressive range, and you have three bucks to spare, here is:

http://www.nybooks.com/archives/search?author_name=Christopher+Hitchens&title=&reviewed_author=Vidal&reviewed_item=&form=&year=1999

--the New York Review of Books piece by Hitchens on very left and very gay author Gore Vidal, NYRB, Vol. 46, No. 7.

Traditionally the New York Review of Books does not send checks to hacks.
